Post op cure - peppermint tea

Recommended Posts

Hi I am new to the site and have had revision WLS (band over bypass) on the 9th January 2014. This has been my most happiest post operative experience so far (have had many surgeries) and I must say the peppermint tea that I have been drinking(recommended by a friend) has made all the difference. It's natural , almost calorie free and helps ease pain and wind..so thought I would share my experience and hopefully help others :)

welcome back to the world and cheers on your New journey!

I enjoyed huckleberry tea in my first few days post op, and peppermint a little later. At first I was so tight I couldn't drink a whole cup of tea before it cooled.

I love peppermint tea. I have a cup a least twice a week.

Is the tea sweet at all?

I wouldn't say it's 'sweet'... but it has a good flavor and I don't see it as being bitter like some of the different black teas. I usually only leave my tea in to steep for 3-5 mins. Some of them get super bitter if you leave it longer.

I add a teaspoon of raw brown sugar in my peppermint tea to sweeten it .. I do know it's 15 'empty' calories but needed to sweeten it slightly :)

Thanks for the info. I would like to possibly replace my coffee with some tea. I drink too much caffeine .

Just be careful of caffeine withdrawal headaches. I'd suggest to start with some different black or green tea that still has caffeine. It's still much less than coffee but peppermint has no caffeine.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
