Ok so I have a question for all the long time banders out there. I had a fill 2 weeks prior to a vacation to visit my family in Indiana from Massachusettes. Was losing well and felt great. Two days after arriving I was feeling alot more restriction. Up until this point I have never been sick. Love my band. I am 9 months post op and it took me about 5 months and 6 fills to get great restriction. Ok so anyway the first day I was there I was very careful about eating. Second day we went out and I got a salad bar and stuck with the basics which are things I have always eaten. That night out again and only have vegetable Soup because I wasn't feeling so well. About an hour aft…

So I got a pretty cool compliment today. A fellow teacher had asked me a few months back how I lost the weight. And I told her everything. Then she emailed me about who my surgeon was. Today I saw her and she said she had started the process with my surgeon it made me feel good to know that my journey has inspired someone else to get healthy.

I was banded 2/20/2013, I am 15 lbs from goal weight. I was wondering what everyone experiences when they are "done" eating and if my experience is typical. First thing that happens is that my nose runs, then I start hiccupping. If I take another bite, then I have pain and I have to stop. Period. Sometimes I can wait, and the food finally goes down, if not, I am running to the bathroom to throw up. It comes up pretty much as it went down. dinner is over. There are some days everything goes down fine. There will be a day or two in a row that nothing seems to be going down except liquid. I get worried that maybe my band has slipped. The next day everything is back…

I'm close to goal and have been thinking alot about the maintenance phase of my journey as the weight loss phase been successful so far. I took my first baby steps towards this being a lifelong lifestyle change by not tracking everything in myfitnesspal anymore. It was invaluable to me in terms of what I was consuming but at this point, I'm well aware of the calories/sodium/sugar/protein of most of the foods I eat regularly and I'm trying to be less obsessive. I'm still weighing out my food as that gives me a sense of comfort and control but I hope to stop doing that as well one day. I just don't want to be thinking about food all the time...even if it's not thinking a…

Does anyone else feel like they have a hair ball stuck in the back of their throat every time they eat?? It's so annoying...happens after I take 2-3 bites. I stop eating of course, and then it takes about 30 minutes for the feeling to go away. Sometimes if goes away quicker when I walk around or burp.

I am writing here for the first time in the hope of getting some sort of answer from anyone who can relate. I am also trying to figure out if I am going crazy. I have had my band for a year and a half and have been doing great, was adjusting to the restrictions of not eating certain foods, smaller amounts etc...I was losing weight but very slow so I got "greedy" and wanted even more restriction. This came at a time when I was assigned a new Dr. So in late October, I got a fill in which I requested it to be "tight." And, tight it was. I could barely eat and lost 8lbs in 2 weeks and oddly, I was happy. However, stupidly, I ate something I knew I shouldn't have, and it got l…

I see this arena doesn't have much activity but I will use the RI forum for my own diary as I work through this process. Today I see Dr. Roye for my preliminary consult with him. I had the seminar this past week and am looking forward to it. Wondering what to expect if anyone is out there. Mixed reviews from the site were it seems some aren't able or willing to make the behavioral adjustments. Trying to represent little RI. Look forward to hearing from anyone.

I was banded back in May of 2011. I have had great success over the last nearly 3 years and have lost over 200 lbs. Recently, about 3 weeks ago, I started getting some discomfort and mild pain near my port area. I can best describe the pain as such. Whenever I sit, stand, bend, or use my abdomen muscles I feel moderate pain in the stomach muscles around my port. i have noticed a little swelling in the port area however the swelling has no pain. I have noticed a little redness and very slight itching on the outside skin where my port is at. Has anyone ever experienced this or have some insight what it could be? I went to my primary care doctor and had an Xray tak…

Hi all: Just a reminder that we are getting together. Anyone from the tri-state area is more than welcome. Details are noted below. As I mentioned in an earlier post, if this goes well and we want to meet regularly, we can look to find a space that is not food-centric. See you on Saturday. Date: Saturday, February 8th, 2014 Time: 3:00 PM Location: Europa Cafe. 1412 Broadway (between 39th and 40th streets)

  15. I tend to get very swollen after a fill, so I've been sticking to fills of .25 every 3-4 weeks. Friday night, I got stuck on shrimp. VERY STUCK! By Saturday morning, I could drink Water but in very small amounts. By Saturday night, I was okay. I ate grilled chicken with cheese for dinner and had a few glasses of wine. Woke up Sunday morning and was SO tight. I mean, beyond tight. I couldn't even keep my saliva down. I'm not sure what caused it. I probably threw up/PB 30 times on Saturday. Struggled through the night and went to the Doctor on Monday. The Fluid FLEW out of my band. We tried to only take out a little, but I kept throwing up. 3 unfills and 1.5 ccs later, I…

Then awakened one night with feeling of fullness in stomach. Called Surgeons office and was told to go to emerge. Dr there removed total amt of fill. Thinking last fill which was my 5th fill was too much. First three days after unfill was unbelievably hungry And thirsty. Got partially refilled three weeks after. Then half fill two days ago. Which means one more fill in a month to catch up. Gained 9 lbs back and can't seem to lose it. Keeps losing and gaining 3-4 lbs every other day. Have gotten back on track. Journ…

I’ve noticed a number of posts lately from bandsters who are non compliant due to stressful situations in their lives. I am very sympathetic to anyone dealing with difficult situations but not so sympathetic with those who deal by eating too much, or eating poorly. I can’t help but think it’s just an excuse to self sabotage. If you were an alcoholic, you would avoid drinking during stressful times. Otherwise, you would be back to drinking uncontrollably again. Same for us foodaholics...and yes, I'm a foodaholic. If stress makes you reach for a cookie or a taco, what makes you think you won’t eat a box of Cookies or a ton of tacos? We must must must find better outlets …

I had to take so many classes to be approved by my insurance company and I thought I had done my due diligence on the lapband but apparently, I don't know as much as I thought because I'm a little discouraged and confused. I've not yet ever had any feeling of fullness or satiety. I could mindlessly continue eating and eating which is what got me to be overweight in the first place. I do notice now that it is easier to get stuck and I've had two stuck episodes that were resolved by a PB. I know this was caused by my not chewing enough. I knew as soon as I swallowe…

We have been not been eating out, eating more Protein, and have cut out most carbs. I've also been watching my calories, using My Fitness Pal, and walking on the treadmill. The thing is, I have been craving something sweet for 2 or 3 days now. The sugar free pudding cup is just not solving the problem. Tonight I had a 100 calorie pack of blonde brownies and one sheet of cinnamon graham crackers. They were really good and low cal, but I felt kinda guilty about the sugar and the carbs. Im optimistic but getting a little nervous now! There is a possibility that the band may have to be removed altogether; I won't know till I wake up. It looks delicious and I want to eat it but I'm wondering if my body is telling me no. I also have a sort of full feeling in the back of my throat, like I have a burp trapped. Does that sound to you veterans like a signal to stop? I've only had 3 bites! But in no way do I want to push it, so I will listen to your advice!

I'm about 7 weeks post op and lost about 25 lbs. I know the weather isn't helping this issue but I'm either burning up or freezing cold. I know when I was skinnier I was always cold. The weird part is more or less when I'm cold I mostly feel it in my legs and feet. I would say it's almost a burning cold. Is this normal with weight loss this quickly? Should I go to my primary or back to my surgeon? I don't feel like there's anything majorly wrong just curious of your experiences.

Hi, I was banded September 2013. And I have lost about 19ILb, I feel restriction with my band, but can't stop eating In between meals and sweet foods! I haven't gained anything, but it's getting me down as I haven't lost any weight since christmas. How can I stop this cycle! I am so disappointed with myself. I know I never had an operation on my brain, but I was doing so well! Please help me get back on track. It doesn't help that my husband won't stop bringing chocolate home and I have no willpower.

  38. I'm very frustrated and hungry :,( I am on liquids and I just keep feeling hungry no matter what I consume. I know this is a short time in the long term goal but I just wish I could at least be on puréed right now. I can feel that whatever I eat is going right through. As it should because I'm only on liquids and have no restriction in my band yet. I'm just venting. A lot of it is head hunger but this is rough! I guess it's also good because it means im healing well and the stomach swelling is going down.

I am still a little hungry, just finished dinner. I waited a bit late to eat dinner because of schedules. My awesome husband grilled my pork chop in 7 inches of snow while their homemade chili was cooking. I get to have a sugar free carnation instant Breakfast in a bit. That will help I am sure curb my hunger. If I had eaten on schedule I probably wouldn't be as hungry, or it could be I burned calories shoveling snow.....idk....but we are taking before pics tonight. ????????

Stress and studying for hours at a time with little time to exercise (excuse i know!). I am so tight that I'm nearly closed when it's cold outside or cold around me...I have learned that I simply cannot eat or drink unless the temperature around me is at least 70 degrees and I've been in the environment for at least 30 minutes. I've experimented with this over the course of a week and have determined that cold weather affects the tightness of my band; if you are having this issue, it could be your problem as well so try this before go…

My doc injected 4cc's into my empty band (he did suck out anything that was in there first, there was very little) - as hopeful as I was that I'd feel more restriction it really didn't happen - I would occasionally feel that soft stop burp - but that was usually after I had eaten quite a bit (upwards of a cup of food) - then …
