Hi all - My name is Christie and I had lap band surgery on 12-18-08 - so far I have lost almost 20 lbs. It is nice to be on this website with folks that are anticipating having it done and folks who have had it done - this is great support I think. I love my lapband and I would do it again and again!

My husband just had the lap band surgery and he would never join a discussion forum. I wanted to join because I want to help him through this process with support and ideas for making his meals enjoyable. He is on a liquid diet right now as he just had the surgery on March 3rd. He is tired of the shakes and clear broth and I am trying to find ideas for something nutritious. I made chicken soup and strained it, he has had jello and ice pops and of course the protein shakes. We just ordered a protein powder that is tasteless that we will put in his soup once it arrives. If you have any suggestions for a different meal I can make today, I would appreciate it. I am just finishing my six months of diet/logging for my insurance and then the Dr. will submit his recommendation for the surgery. I am getting excited and can't wait to have the banding done so I can get on with the next step in my life. As of now I have lost 59 pounds and feel wonderful. Now I want to loose the rest and KEEP it off. Would love to hear from anyone out there - we are in this together.

Hello to everyone. I a 29 year old soon to be 30 (like in two weeks)year old single mom of two. I have not been banded as of yet, but have my first dr.s appointment this month with my primary phycisian that will hopefully refer me and get things started. I have always been heavy. I haven't been under 200 pounds since 9th grade. I am currently at my heaviest, right at 300. Even though my situation is as dire as it is, I am still nervous about the procedure and its effectiveness, since I have read and been told that the weight can come back. In addition, I just have a fear of being cut on period. I am open and grateful for whatever help and advice anyone can give me…

I thought I would stop by and say hello. I've been enjoying reading through this forum and reading up on some of your experiences. For example, I had no idea that I'd pretty much never get to drink diet soda again! Fascinating! Anyway, I got banded on Feb. 27, 2009 so I'm about 9 days into this. I started my Medifast pre-op diet on January 2nd at 224 (I am 5'2) pounds and I have lost 24 pounds so far. I'm only a pound from my "triple digit rollover!" I've a had a little history with yo-yo-ing weight. I was pretty much large all my life, but when I was 21 I decided to go to a doctor and get some help. He put me on a medication diet (Phentermine, Adipex) and I lost …

Hello! I'm Tiffani. I'm 26 years old and decided to pursue the lap band surgery via self pay. My insurance won't cover it for any reasons and I have a few health issues that need resolving and they all center around the one thing this surgery will help.. my weight. So, I'm here for education, support, friends, and whatever else may come as I head down this new road. I've had to take my behavioral health eval (732 true/false questions) and then followed up two weeks later with the psych eval. That was this last Monday, March 2. The 20th I'll see the nutritionist and on the 30th I'll see the psych again. He wanted me to make a few changes and show I'm committed. …

  23. So I have had the same boyfriend for about three years, and our relationship is good for the most part but I feel as if he is trying to hold me back for some reason. He would be an idiot not to realize how unhappy I am with myself since I have put on so much weight. He dosen't want me to get banded even though I have explained to him numerous times that it is deffinantly what I want. He will not change my mind no matter what, but I'm not quite sure what his motives are [if he has any]. I don't understand why he wouldn't want me to be happy! Has anyone ever had any issues similar to mine? Or do you have any theories on why he may be reacting this way? please let me know if…

I had 3 babies in 3 years and the youngest is now turning 3 next month so I can't blame my weight on that. I have never weighed this much. I have long been thinking about the lapband and have a friend who had it done in December and is very happy thus far with the results. My dh was negative about it at first but the other day he brought it up and said that if I was truly unhappy (which of course I am) that I should really look into it and make a doctor apt. I do have two questions although. 1) Do you have any tips on what I should stock up at home for post op? Things you have found helpful. 2) Because of my weight I developed a hormone imbalance and due to the imbalance I strated to have some facial hair. I'm so embarassed about it, as i now have to shave it. Like a man. Its not a full beard or anything. The question is has anyone else had this problem and did it go away with weight loss?
