Hi there :w00t: I'm 7 days post op and feeling pretty good. The first 4 days were tough. I was constantly feeling so icky. But then one of my friends told me that I need to eat more substancial soups. (I was living on cup-of-soup, and yogurt). Right when I started to make my own home made soups I started to feel much better. (Even before I got the band, if I was really hungry I would feel very sick, so it's normal for me) I have been out to eat and had soup as my meal. I really enjoyed myself. Getting out of the house made me feel much better. I'm back to my normal routine and feeling great. I am having some strange aches all around my rib cage (front and back). Not su…

Day 5 of liquid diet. 10 days until sugery. Woo hoo! Dr. Lenz will be my surgeon, and I am super excited (and a little nervous)! Does anyone have any suggestion for compression garments? I've heard a little something about waist wrap, generally sent home with you from the hospital, but what about something more full-body? My thought is ... what might help reduce the skin sagging? I'll continue an excercise regime when I am able post-surgery, but I want to be as proactive as possible. Any suggestions? What has worked for you?

Hi everyone! I am a 28 year old female and I was banded in December of 2007. So far I've lost 115 pounds. I still have a way to go (I'd like to lose another 100 or so) and just came across this site. I thought it would be helpful in keeping me on track! A little about me...I am an English teacher in NYC. I am in a committed relationship and have been for 7 years with a wonderful woman who has stuck by me through thick...not so thick...and on my way to getting thin... I am extremely musical; I play piano and guitar and own more music than I know what to do with. Hi guys! I am 20 years old and weighed 237.8 pounds at my local gym on Tuesday (3/17/09). On February 12th, I had my consult with the surgeon. On February 26th, I was approved by the psychiatrist. Now it is 3 weeks out from the psych approval, 2 weeks out since contacting the surgeon's office again, and about 2 more weeks possibly until I know whether I am approved or not. At any rate, I am pursuing this harder than I have anything else except my college degrees. Oh, I live in Gainesville, FL (thus the title) and I noticed another UF-area person is on here. Also part of a lapband community, and wls community, together on LJ so hey there! My surgeon wil…

Hello, everyone. I've been reading posts the past few days and decided to join up. The support here seems amazing and I'm excited to begin my new journey. A little about me. I've been overweight all my life. I actually lost 60lbs ten years ago on Atkins and kept most of it off until about three years ago when I let it all come back. A bad cholestrol test, which was subsequently followed by a good one so I don't know if it was a fluke, gave me the wake up call I needed to get serious about losing weight for good. Problem was, it didn't seem to come off as easy as ten years ago. But more than that, I was positive I couldn't keep it off, even if I do lose, without drastic…

I'm very excited...but nervous. I have a lot of weight to lose but I have a great at home support system to lean on. Anyway, I'm sure I'll be posting a lot more now that I actually have a date and my journey is officially starting. I look forward to getting to know everyone.

Hi everyone. I'm so glad I found this site. All the comments and atttitudes are so positive. I'm scheduled for surgery on March 30 and go for all sorts of tests tomorrow. I guess I will get pre-opand post-op diet instructions at that time. As I was surfing for more info on the post-op experience, I saw it listed where asparagus is a no-no food. Is that true? Asparagus is my favorite food of all time. Why is it on the banned list? I can understand something like popcorn, but asparagus? Anyway, I look forward to checking back in here and get help and support from this community. I'm glad I have joined already.

I feel great and really have had no pain or problems. I had surgery on Tuesday and went back to desk job on Wednesday. I feel good and ready to make a new life for me.

This is new to me and I have no idea what I am doing. I haven't been banded yet but I am planning to do a seminar as soon as I get feed back from the doctor on when and where the next seminar is going to be held. Has anyone used Dr. Nick Nickolson at the Nickolson Clinic in Plano. I was looking for the Baylor Hospital Bariactric but his clinic is what I came up with. A couple of ladies at my church used another doctor but he doesn't accept my insurance so my doctor suggested I try Baylor. I am both excited and nervous at the prospect of doing this. Are there any seniors who have had the surgery if so please tell me about your experience.

The facility seems to really care and is in order. What I need to do is to kill my wife's "addiction" to Pepsi. As I sit here typing, I look over at our kitchen table and see four cases of Pepsi. I don't drink soda. The other issue is finding cookbooks for my wife's needs after the surgery. I'm sure I'll find plenty of recipes and books on this site though. 25. Hi all, My name is michael Brown and I was banded 7/9/07 by Dr. Nirmal Jayaseelan in Dallas, TX. My highest pre-band weight was 396 pounds. I managed to get down to 285 on the Atkins diet (three times). On my way back up the fourth time, I decided I needed to do something different and that's when I found the band and Dr. Jayaseelan. At the time of my surgery, I weighed in at 346. I had gotten down to 239, but due to stress and other factors, I had to have some Fluid removed from my band. Today I am at 268, back on the bandwagon, and dropping again. I hope to reach my goal of 220 by the end of the year, though I am giving myself until this time next year. I…

My insurance is BCBS of Illinois and they require a 6 month weight management program which I can do through True Results. I also have to do the nutrition consult (not covered by insurance), psych eval, sleep study and chest x-ray but I don't mind if it gets me to my goal. The best thing about my insurance is my out of pocket cost... $500, that's it! I know a few others who have done it and they had to cover from $1,000 to $2,500 so I'm super happy So I have to wait 6 month but at least that will be more money…

I have been feeling a little bit of frustration because I haven't lost more weight and I have also been experiencing the phlegm sometimes after the first bite or two of food. This kind of contributes to my indulging in some "junk" foods which go down easier. I would like to know if anyone else has experienced this and is there anything that can be done about it. I sometimes feel like my stomach is coming up through m y thraot and I'm not sure if this is something others have experienced or if maybe something is wrong. The liquid diet is definitely harder than I though it would be too.

Hello fellow banders. 3-5 for me and doing well except for wanting real food now and then. Still wearing same pants size and down at least 10lb, I think maybe due to swelling. I'm amazed at how much water I can drink without feeling full. I'm sure after the first fill that will change. a little tip I use when making protein shakes, I flavor it with a very small amount of jell-o and that works great and saves on calories,I noticed the flavored protein has 50 more calories that nonflavored. I see the Dr. on monday and think he will put me on soft foods. Better days ahead.

First I want to say that this site has been a God-send! Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to post! I have learned so much from this site and I feel completely ready (but still nervous) about my banding on 3/30. My question is about the pouch and having it get stretched out over time, if a person consistently eats large amounts of food. Has anyone had a problem with this? Does this happen to a lot of people? I was under the assumption that if a person with a band ate too much, the excess food would "come back up" in one way or another. I want to be very careful not to overeat and stretch my new pouch! Thanks again for your input, everyone! God bless!
