  2. Hi all!!! Was banded on 04/15 sorry for the delay in getting you all an update on how things went. I am back to work this morning and am trying to get back in the groove of things. Five days and now work....shewww I didn't know what to do! But, surgery went well...and the doc put in a standard band!!!! He said he could tell I did really well on the pre-op diet, my liver was small and very little fat around it! So those of you not yet to surgery...make sure you stick to that diet!! It will be the best for you in the end. Surgery day was fine...the anesthesia really kicked my butt...couldn't wake up for nothing...but the actual surgery lasted 30 mins...was in recovery for about another 30 and was on my way home. Got home took my meds as instructed and crashed on the recliner pain wasn't too bad that day...was still really out of it. The next day was very uncomfortable...walked around as much as possible but don't feel I walked around enough. The gas was horrible. Friday was better... Saturday I went out and about with family in town...Sunday helped around the house and today I'm back to work! The only things I will say is a little "different" feeling is the hunger feeling...I kinda feel hungery but not really...sounds wierd I know..don't know how to explain....not sore at all....I know alot of people complain about their port hurting...my port is located on my chest...and have to say it doesn't hurt really at all...kinda feels like bruse mostly. Other than that...all is good..still feel a little week...but I'm sure that will pass. Good luck to everyone!!!!
  3. Well dang....I'm excited!!! They weighed me on my post op on this tuesday the 7th at 297...started my dieting on the 8th...and as of today I am weighing 289!!! three days and 8 pounds!!! Good Golly Miss Molly I hope it comes off like that after surgery!!! haha!!!

  5. Hi Y'all!! Okay so I had my pre-op (or as the nurse called it Pre-Admit) on Tuesday the 7th. Got all my test done!! Everything looked good! The Doc said I need to lose 5 pounds before surgery...made me all scared that if I didn't and my liver was too big they would have to close me up and do it again when I did....AT MY COST! But they aren't requiring any liquid diet before sugery...just a "sugar buster's diet" And I can't lose 5 pounds in a week on that!!!! Grrr...so I am determinded....drinking 100 ounces of water a day and taking protein drinks for breakfast, eating sugar free jello for lunch, protein bars for a snack...and grilled chicken and broccolli at dinner... I was 297 on tuesday and am now 294 today!!! Yeah!! working on those 5 pounds!! Which I am sure it is all water weight! That evening of my pre-op I went to my first support group meeting they invited me to since I am now "good to go" with surgery. It was so inspirational!!! We talked about working out and protein!! Got to get those firm bodies!!! To see these women and men before and after and have them physically standing there...was a pow right in the face!!! I CAN DO THIS! They have clothing exchanges...they are going to have a Fashion show in a month! And I'm going to be ready!!! And the doc was there that night to...the fashion show was his idea!!! hahaha! which is really cool cause he had lap-band done as well...and is doing great!!! He better be in the fashion show to!! Any way..just wanted to check in on my bunnies!!! Hope all those that had surgery is recovering well...and getting great support! HUGS! And those of us that are fast approaching that S day! Good luck to us! and many prayers!! Hugs! Sylvia
  6. Thanks y'all for all the great help!!! My doctor suggested the Flintstone chewables too!! LOL...and it was hard to believe...but I guess I'll be getting some. :0)
  7. HUGS Hannah!!! I've been there...you can do it. High schooler's are very cruel you are right...but, it doesn't last for ever...when you get older they will see you totally different...they will have respect for you and what you have done. Chin up!!! Stay strong!!! You're beautiful!!!!
  8. Band_Groupie, I totally relate...I think you hit it on the head...threads like that made me feel as though there was a higher chance of failing....(my hands up) I love that we have each other on this board!!! HUGS!!! Hope everyones surgery goes well today!!!
  9. I am a firm believer in Vitamins...but have to be honest I don't know very much about them...lol..I'm a "Woman's one a day" girl. And suggestions on what you take to stay healthy?
  10. Hi Early and Band-Groupie I am worring...I have my date (04/15/2009) And have done quite a bit of research on my own to "prepare" myself for the changes... But I read this thread today and it really started to make me worry... http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f278/im-mad-heck-85466/ I know it is a lifestyle change..I'm just so very worried that I become a failure even with the band's help. All I keep thinking is the my doctor told us at the seminar..."It takes the will power out of it" And I want to stay positive...but then I read things like above... LOL....I am determind NOT to be a failure!
  11. I have a question...I was told by some of the ladies from the support group that a good way to make sure you stay on track is: 1. Of course eat on a smaller plate and this one makes perfect since... 2. Eat with a baby set... I have been looking on line to see if I can find some cute ones....in a travel case so that I can take with me. I would prefer them to be metal....and of course I am just finding ones that are cute plastic character labled sets. I want the metal ones so not to stand out too badly...and I think it's a great idea...smaller bites...and chew chew chew....Does anyone have any suggestions as to where to look for a Baby's feeding set in metal with a travel case?...lol...asking a little much I know. And for those that have used this method..how's it working?
  12. Congrats Doodlebug! for staying on track and good luck with the doctor tomorrow!! I, personally, have never heard of sugar alcohol...but that doesn't say much...Sorry I couldn't help
  13. LOL...yup...just kept working at it until I figured it out.
