I will be starting my liquid diet on March 11th. I just got back from sams club stocking up on carnation instant breakfast and the other things like protein powder. It is the first time that ive ever been to sams club and not stocked up on junk food. It was great. Look forward to chatting with any one who is on this personnel journey. Jim

I just dont want to be disappointed or go into massive debt. sigh. What i am nervious about is there seems to be a lot of documented disappointment over the lapband if not immediately over a period of time. http://www.obesityhelp.com/forums/rny/3841668/Anyone-wish-they-had-Lap-Band-instead/ Weight usually falls off me when i try so i think restriction will be enough. Hello everyone, I"m scheduled for lap band surgery on 3/13. I'm nervous, excited and scared all at the same time. Most of my friends tell me not to go through it and some tell me to do it. I'm confussed. What are some of the things I'm going to feel after surgery? How long is the pain? Has anyone had the lap band for more than 3 years without any problems?

My mind wonders what lies ahead for me. I pray that my insurance company will pay for my surgery. All my labs are borderline and for me I see this as a turning point. I want to loose the weight and be that person I feel is fighting an awful struggle to get out. I pray I am not turned down until they can see my health deteriorate. Any words of encouragement is always appreciated.

Hello! My name is Carrie and I'm trying to research more and educate myself about the lap band. I have been obese now going on about 7 years. The only time in those years I've managed to lose any weight was while breastfeeding and that obviously isn't a long term solution to this problem. All I know is I need to find a way to lose some weight or else I won't have as many years with my new daughter as either of us deserve.

I thought I would touch base with the community and let everyone know that I will be in the forums absorbing as much info as I can. I was just recently banded (3/2/09). So far, everything is going very well. I had pain the first day but since then I have done well. Right now I am doing 3 protien shakes a day (Muscle Milk - Cookies N Cream) @ 21g per and then drinking Crystal Lite throughout the day. I have also got a chewable Vitamin I take 1x/day. Down 17 pounds thus far (10 lbs since 3/2/09).

I really enjoy this site and have learned a lot from everyone here. I think I have packed my brain with all the information on the lap band it can stand, but I'm sure theres something I've missed. Does anyone have any advice for a new bandster?

Hi all> I was banded Feb. 19 by Dr. Earl Fox in Richland, WA. He and his staff are great! Only issues since banding have been that I am not pain-free as soon as I wanted to be (wanted to wake up next day without pain) and even consumming less than 600 calories a day, still no weight loss. Doctor and friends tell me to be patient but it is tough.

I have followed all directions for post op diet exactly as given with one minor misunderstanding, but have never felt nauseated, never vomited, never had heartburn no nothing, no problems whatsoever. Is this normal? Should I just be thankful instead of questioning whether or not this is normal? I self paid, so am thinking why did I do this if I am still hungry more often than not? Am trying hard, but definitely have had some days where I probably ate too much, but yet never felt full or had any problems? I am sure the answers are here somewh…

If all goes as planned I will have my LB surgery this coming Wed. I am a bit concerned about quite a few things but the one thing at the forefront is "will I meet my pre-surgery weight loss requirement?" On 2/20 I was given my surgery date and instructed to lose 12 lbs. 10 days have passed and I've managed to shed 9 lbs. I figure I can wear slippers instead on my shoes and "steal" 1 lb. which leaves me with 2 lbs. to go and 1 day to do it :hurray:. From what I've heard about my surge…

However I think i have my surgeon Mr Stewart Skinner to thank for this. I have lost 12.8 kilos to date and am hoping to lose another 10kgs by April. I am so glad I underwent the procedure as my blood sugars are now constantly under 5 which is fantastic. My starting weight was 107kgs and my height is 175cm so I have been really happy with my loss to date i just wish it were a little faster!!! But don't we all:thumbup:
