  1. Thanks, I have an appt July 1st. The PA told me they will probably start with a fill of 3 cc on that day. She said they do not have to go as slow on the re-fills second time around. I am afraid of what will happen with no fill. I haven't been able to control my eating in the past, that is one reason I got the band! I hope I don't gain any weight!!!
  2. I have been through 2 rough days. I had a fill on Wed which brought me up to 6.5 cc's. When I drank the water in the office it went down fine but as I got the the car I started sliming. Luckily had a couple of towels in the car. I went and got a cup of coffee thinking it would help but one sip and I started pbing and continued the sliming, gaging, vomiting. I hurt so bad I thought I might be having a heart attack. I went back to the dr office and they took out the added fill. The PA then told me I now know what too tight feels like. However, the damage was done. When I went home couldn't swallow my own spit, literally! I thought it would stop but went on all day and all night (sliming, gaging, vomiting). I fell asleep twice during the night for 30 minutes each time, both times woke up drowning on my own body fluid. Scared me to death! I couldn't wait to get back to the doc today. I had lost 2.5 lbs of fluid overnight. They took out all of the fill, said my stomach had become inflamed from all of the vomiting, gaging, etc. I will have to start all over on the fills when my stomach heals. Thought I would just warn everyone not to get overfilled. It is my own fault. I couldn't recognize that I really was past my optimum fill level. I'll know this time. When I started having trouble swallowing, I was probably at the appropriate fill for me. This may be why I haven't had the great weight lose all of you are having. I haven't been eating the right types of meats because I have had trouble swallowing and so I have eaten softer food instead. Good Luck everyone.
  3. Fixin, I was banded 3/19/09 and I am also 5'2", but I am not having the great weight lose that you are having. Can you give me some pointers? I have not been on any real diet, I am depending on the band to restrict my eating. I haven't done any exercise at all. I keep telling myself I'll start exercise program tomorrow.
  4. Had my first fill today. I can't tell that it made any difference in my appetite yet. I will get my second fill in 2 weeks.
  5. 21 lbs is wonderful. I lost the 15 lbs fast but haven't lost any for 2 wks. My fill is Wed. Apr. 22 and I'm suppose to go back on liquids for 2 days. I'm hoping that jumpstarts my weightloss again. Good Luck, Brenda:thumbup:
  6. Bella, How long have you been banded. I have about the same amount of weight to loose. I was banded March 19th. How many fills have you had? Sounds like you have good restriction!! BG
  7. Gameon, How much have you lost so far? bg
  8. I was banded March 19th also. I am back on most foods except for beef, pork, & ham. Many of you have lost more than I have. I haven't been counting calories or anything and the doctor did't tell me to. I get my first fill April 22nd and I can't wait. I've heard one fill will not give us much restriction but I hope they are wrong. I can't tolerate the protein drinks. They make me very sick, especially in the morning. Since I am back on most foods, and since I am eating fish, do I really need the protein drinks?
  9. Jancar, How are you doing? Has the pain gone away? I'm curious, why haven't you had a fill until now? I am still having the popping around by left lower rib. I think it must be the tubing?!?! bgab
  10. Thanks, Salliemae. I'll try not to get so excited over everything, but my surgeon hasn't done many of these surgeries and I am afraid he may have done something wrong.
  11. Hi Everyone! I was banded March 19, 2009. I can now have potatoes, oatmeal, eggs, cheese, beans, soft canned fruits and cooked vegetables according to the diet provided by my surgeon. But I think it has caused a problem because when I take a deep breath it feels like something pops in the center of my chest (at the top of my stomach). It's not uncomfortable but it feels funny. Has anyone else experienced this?
  12. I was banded 3/19/09. Everything has gone pretty smoothly. But a couple of days ago I noticed a feeling in my upper stomach that doesn't feel right. When I take a deep breath it feels as if something hits the back of my rib, in the center of my chest. Its like something popping. Has anyone had this happen to them? I am afraid my band has come loose.
  13. I am doing fine. They inserted an ON-Q device to slowly deliver a numbing medicine to the port site. I wll be removing that tomorrow. My biggest problem is, I''m Hungry. I thought my stomach would be swollen and I wouldn't want to eat but that hasn't happened. This clear liquid diet isn't very filling.
  14. emurphy, I'm taking off work until Monday. I work in an office. Do you think I will be able to go back at that time? Laptastic, Let me know how your surgery goes. My surgeon has only done a few of these surgeries unsupervised. I guess that is one reason I am so nervous.
  15. Emurphy, how are you feeling?
