Mini Gastric Bypass Surgery Forum

Mini gastric bypass support. How it works, how it compares to RNY, diet, weight loss, and risks.

  1. Started by mmy,

Hello, I'm 1 year and 1 month out of Mini Gastric Bypass. Last week I've experienced the worst heartburn ever that I was almost certain I will vomit blood (I only vomited green bile). Rushed to the emergency and I was referred to endoscopy. The doctor found that my pouch was full of bile with a very small ulcer, everything else looked normal but a biopsy was taken and sent to pathology and currently waiting for the pathology report. Next step is to do PH manometry to check the PH value of the esophagus. I have also been complaining of excess weight loss and I'm still losing weight. The doctor did talk to me about the possible need of another surgery saying that bile refl…

I am 3 months post mini gastric bypass. I have lost 30 lbs. everything was going great until about 3 weeks ago. I was constipated and had terrible cramping for 3days. The pain returned 6 days ago with a vengeance. In order to minimize the pain I am eating Tylenol 3 like candy. I have had an X-ray a ultrasound and aCT-Scan . They eliminated gallbladder issue and stones. I am waiting for my surgeon to review the CT-Scan as it was inconclusive as per doctor at hospital. This morning I have had diaheria and cramps are still unbelievably painful (child birth is less painful). Any thoughts

Hi there! I'm a new member to these forums, maybe visited a while back.. Here's my story.. I'm 30, and in 2005 I had a lap band. about 3 years later, after ,maximizing inflations, it started working suddenly! I lost 100 lbs, down to 127 lbs, in a few months. I was pretty much throwing up everything I eat, and learned how to manipulate the "system". I'd eat whatever I wanted, then gulped Water, excused myself, threw everything up, returned to the table, and ate some more. Then I got pregnant, and I deflated the band completely. BIG MISTAKE. I gained the 100 lbs again during my pregnancy. Yes, in 9 months, I gained 100 lbs. I'm serious. ok my baby was probably …

  9. Hi everyone. I had a lap band put in in 2011. I've lost 100 pounds. I've stayed active since then, at the gym pretty much 5-7 days a week, or doing something active every day. I got a bike about 4 months ago and ride steady every day or few days, averaging 50 miles a week. I did my first group bike ride a few weeks ago and did great, finished 35 miles. I did a ride yesterday and my goal was 40. I bottomed out at 33.73 and had to be driven in the rest of the route. The issue I ran into was keeping my body fueled. Not too much problem keeping hydrated, but getting my food in during the ride, well, that seems to be an issue. I rode an hour and a half yesterday and …

Hi I am Mary, 30 years old and I weigh 202lbs my BMI is 34.6, I gained most of my weight during pregnancy. My baby is now 2 years old, and before having another child I need to lose weight. After failed attempts (dieting, weight watchers, workout 5x a week with 3 different personal trainers), I decided to have weight loss surgery - specifically the omega loop/mini gastric bypass. No date scheduled yet, getting all the pre surgery tests done. I have never had any surgery so I don't really know what to expect! Anyone on here had this surgery recently? Any insight would be appreciated, regarding recovery, food intake, pregnancy after surgery, etc..

I was hoping to find some others here who have had the surgery a while back. I have a few issues I would like to ask some questions about. My Iron count is at 5 which is dangerously low and I have yet to find an iron supplement that I absorb. I just found the iron patch and will receive it this week. I'm hoping it works and that I don't have to have the iron infusion. I thought I was 100 percent set on getting the gastric sleeve as it seemed to e the "least invasive." However, I have been reading up on the mini gastric bypass and I am wondering if that would be better for me. I am 5'5 a little over 300 lbs with a BMI of 51 and wonder if I will be able to get to my goal weight at that size with just the sleeve alone. I have scheduled my surgery or June 14th for the sleeve but now I am wondering if I chose the right surgery. I do not suffer from acide reflux, I don't want it and of course I want the least amount of complications possible. I always dont want to have a second surgery if one doesnt go as planned. Hi, I am about to commit to having the MGB done with Dr Cobourn at the Smart Shape clinic. I am hoping to hear from people who have actually had the MGB done themselves. Do you have any positive or negative feedback? I am so excited to reclaim my life but there have been a few fear mongers on another MGB forums that are making me question the MGB because of its newness and making me feel like going the self pay route is unsafe. However, not one of the negative people on the forum have experienced the MGB first hand, so I would love to hear from someone who has already done it, especially someone with the same doctor.

Or is it just that you know your stomach can't handle much food? Like do you actually feel full or what? Do small portions feel satisfying? I'm a little confused about how surgery with change my body. Any comments are appreciated.

  23. Hi I'm due for surgery next week. Doing OK with the pre op diet. Getting very nervous about the surgery. Dr Chris de Bruyne is my surgeon and I've done so much research on him and the surgery. I've been struggling with my weight for 20yrs. 6 years ago I lost 6.5 stone through diet and exercise but struggled to keep it off. I'm now back to my weight prior to 6 yrs ago and worrying that the unhealthy diet I did previously will inhibit my weight loss after surgery. I'm travelling from Ireland and would love to hear anyone's story about traveling to Belgium. Looking forward to getting to know you all! Sent from my SM-G930F using the BariatricPal App

This medication is classified as a NSAID. I have allergies to NSAIDs and develop Steven Johnsons Syndrome; imagine your oral mucus membranes and your "lady parts" turning into big ulcerations. This is EXTREMELY painful.
