The omega loop procedure may displace traditional gastric bypass

https://www.advisory.com/research/market-innovation-center/the-growth-channel/2016/01/obesity-week-four-trends-on-bariatric-program-growth

Hello Everyone,

I'm new to the Forum. I'm researching getting the Mini-bypass procedure done. I found this article very interesting, so I wanted to share it. I hope the link works.

"The Omega loop, also known as single-anastomosis or “mini” gastric bypass, is becoming increasingly popular. Benefits of the procedure include shorter procedure times (over 40 minutes shorter than bypass) and better weight loss (72.9% excess weight loss vs. 60.1%) than traditional bypass.

It’s too soon to say if the omega loop will fully displace traditional gastric bypass, but we expect to hear about providers adopting and publicizing this new approach to patients."

Thank you!

Thank you for posting this. My surgeon has recommended the Omega Loop Bypass for me when I'd been thinking all along I'd go for the RNY. So now I'm doing my research. :)

I had it done 2 months ago and it has been great. I had minimal pain and have not had any dumping or vomiting, I don't have reflux or nausea with it either. Wounds healed with no trouble and I had no problems in theatre despite being diabetic with very high BMI. I can eat a normal diet already. I have already lost loads! I'm very happy with the choice I made, best decision ever and I already feel healthier than I have a decade or more.
