Anyone else catch the Dr. Phil Hose of Hatred episode on Monday? Six individuals with different judgments and prejudices move into The Dr. Phil House together, with cameras capturing every move as they struggle to challenge their own beliefs and values. Gary is a white supremacist, and B. is an African-American who hates white people. Staci is thin and hates fat people, and John is over 600 pounds and hates skinny people. Christina fears and hates homosexuals, and Tessa is a lesbian who hates straight people. They all work together in various assignments from Dr. Phil. Will they break down the walls of hatred and intolerance and learn to accept one another? Part 1 su…

I'm all for it! Let's put the "under" back in underwear! By TAWNELL D. HOBBS / The Dallas Morning News A proposal to ban saggy pants in Dallas gained steam Wednesday as City Council members discussed how to deal with the popular clothing trend. Several council members voiced support and asked the city attorney's office to research whether such a rule is enforceable. Dallas school trustee Ron Price recommended the ban at Wednesday's council meeting, following through on a plan he announced Tuesday. Mr. Price wants the city to create an ordinance to allow police to cite people who wear their pants too low. "Too low," he said, allows too much underwear to show. …

Recently a kid came to me and asked me to sponsor a group/dance team type thing at school. I told her I would ask around to see if I would be able to do it. (Because I am no dancer.) When I asked around, most teachers told me that usually the African American teachers sponsored that, and I wouldn't be a good fit for it. This got me to thinking. My family has a multitude of races in it. We have one hell of a family photo album, and I really never think of it anymore. And being on the internet, I never go: "Hello, what color are you?" I know the kids know I could handle it (the race difference), or they wouldn't have asked me. Now the dance part... I don't know. …

Hey i have a question for all the nurses out there. When you took health assesment did you preform the tasks on yourself or a partner? And what did you wear. Next semester i have to take health assesment and i was talking to some girls that are taking it now, they told me that they preform the exams on each other, all of them including finding the femoral pulse and feeling for the intercostal spaces across the chest. They said to do these everyone wears just a sports bra and shorts during class. Now there is no way i am about to take off my shirt in a room full of these perfect girls. (none of the girls in my class are overweight none!) How was this handled at your school?…

except the chance to share the memory of my hero. My mom was 49 years old when she passed away a year ago today after suffering from ovarian cancer for 4 years. She was young and beautiful and taken from my family way to soon. It's amazing how much I've become like her in the year that she's been gone. I'm such a different person and it pains me that she's not here to see it even though I do know she is watching over me. I was best friends with my mother. It wasn't always that way of course. Well, Lena is hired at The Tickle Me Elmo factory and she reports for her first day promptly at 8:00 AM. The next day at 8:45 AM there is a knock at the Personnel Manager's door. The Foreman throws open the door and begins to rant about the new employee. The Personnel Manager decides he should see this for himself, so the 2 men march down to the factory floor. When they get there the line is so backed up that there ar…

He goes to a magnet school where the kids have to score a certain level to qualify for this program.. so, 'troubled kids' arent a big issue here. We are all so eager to lose weight and we do unhealthy things to achieve that goal. I wonder sometimes if being fat would be so terrible if it was socially acceptable? I generally don't like being fat because I feel like an outsider. I feel like the ugly person in my group, even though I know I have a prettier face/hair/attitude than some other girls I know. If fat was 'normal' and skinny was 'ugly' would we all want to lose weight? Would we overlook the physical discomfort and be happy with the attention we get? Sometimes I get this crazy idea that being fat isn't so bad as long as I eat right and excercise, but then I hear someone call me a fat bitch and I want …

The Miracle Toddler Diet People are always on the lookout for a new diet. The trouble with most diets is that you don't get enough to eat (the starvation diet), you don't get enough variation (the liquid diet) or you go broke (the all-meat diet.) Consequently, people tend to cheat off their diets, or quit after three days. Now there's the new Toddler Miracle Diet. Over the years you may have noticed that most two year olds are trim. Now the formula to their success is available to all in this new diet. You may want to consult your doctor before embarking on this diet, otherwise, you may be seeing him afterwards. Good Luck! It will all be on Larry King Live tonight....so that show should explain a few things. If he is the killer, it is too bad that Patsy passed away before knowing the truth. Here is the problem: my husband and I would need to cover my tuition and supplement his salary with about 30k in student loans. I already have 45k from undergrad debt. The difference in salary if I had a BSN, as a new grad, compared to what I make now, is 20k gross annually. That doesn't take into account any OT or shift differential. It's just the starting salary at most hospitals where I live for day shift. The additional debt really scares me. However, the additional income would help a lot in pa…

I quite like the idea of joining friends for dinner, however it's been an insanely busy week and I think, for our sanity, it's likely it will be just the family for dinner. On the whole, it seems like it's a much more casual holiday here than in the US. On the west coast, if the weather is nice, lots of people go camping. To me it seems like it's not a really big deal if the whole family doesn't get together. Now, I get the impression from movies that Thanksgiving in the States is VERY important, that people have to get home for it at all costs. Is this really so, or should I not believe…
