I feel like dancing! I was kind of bummed because I was supposed to be busy all weekend doing stream sampling (getting wet in a stream while looking for aquatic bugs, basically) for my analysis of aquatic ecosystems class, but I just got an email from the professor saying that it was canceled. We got a ton of hard rain yesterday, so apparently the streams are too high to do any sampling. This is wonderful, especially since it is supposed to be cold and snowy tomorrow!:clap2:

this might be a long shot... short story: i have a 3 year old 3lb RES that i need to set up a nesting area for. we have to do it on the cheap since the sugery and all. she is trying to lay eggs (she hit maturity 2 years early due to the excellent care we gave her, according to the vet.:tired ) and we want her to be as healthy as possible during this process. we set up a kiddie pool with the proper mulch/sand ratio, but she absolutely hates it. so. if you know anything about turtles, :help: . thanks. :biggrin1:

My family and I have found a wonderful way to support our US troops! I thought maybe some of you would be interested also! You just sign up and a soldier is assigned to you. You can send care packages, e-mails, and letters. I have found this a very good experience in teaching the kids what a sacrifice these men and women are making to keep our freedom:clap2: . Just thought some other people would like to join in also! It makes me so sad to read some of the letters from these kids who are 18-20 and learning and living the horrors of war:cry . If a few colored pictures from kids, some shampoo and soap, and a few candy bars help ease that; then it is all worth it to me! …

  7. This happened to me in January, after I had decided on the band. I was lying in bed with my husband waiting to go to sleep and I was feeling the rolls of flab. He asked me what I was doing. So I told him and I mentioned that sometimes I wondered if the flab wouldn't swallow me whole and that on occasions I thought of myself as sort of like pizza the hut from spaceballs and that I was worried I maybe gained a few pounds. So he said I should get up and weigh myself then because I would feel better once I got it over and knew if I had gained weight and how much. So I said ok. I put the scale on the middle of the bathroom floor. I step on the scale. As I am steppin…

From a conversation book I've had for years and years... What, if anything, is too serious to joke about? If you could wake up tomorrow having gained one quality or one ability, what would it be? Whom, if anyone, do you envy enough to want to trade lives with them? If you could change anything about the way you were raised, what woud it be? If there were a public execution on tv, would you watch it? Would you rather arrive at a party underdressed or overdressed? What's more important: actual experiences, or the memories that remain from those experiences? In real conversations, do you tend to talk more or listen more?If you had to chose one, would you rather be…

My grandmother will be 75 this week. I've already set up a surprise dinner (she thinks it's just me and her going, but the entire family will be there) at her favorite restaurant, ordered a cake, balloons, flowers, etc. Those were the easy parts. The hard part is figuring out a gift. :faint: She is in good health, but has started gifting away her possessions, streamlining her will, etc. Because of this I'm hesitant to buy her anything "material" - knick-knacks, etc. I've gone the route of maid, lawn service, pre-paid classes, computer, etc. and they're either done, or haven't gone over as well as one might hope. So my current thought is to treat her to a day at…

The Breast Cancer site is having trouble getting enough people to click on their site daily to meet their quota of donating at least one free mammogram a day to an underprivileged Woman. It takes less than a minute to go to their site and click on "donating a mammogram" for free (pink window in the middle). This doesn't cost you a thing. Their corporate sponsors/advertisers use the number of daily visits to donate mammogram in exchange for advertising. Here's the web site! Pass it along to people you know. http://www.thebreastcancersite.com/ There are other sites linked as well that you can click too. One for the animals, the rainforest…

What are you currently reading? I am a self confessed bibliophile. I love books, I love the smell of them, the look of them, the weight of them in my hands. Like Thomas Jefferson says. "I cannot live without Books." I am also an unashamed, unembarassed romance junkie. So the bulk of my reading tends to be romance novels/fiction. But that is far from my total consumption. I can't find a new website without sharing my passion. I am a pretty fast reader, and I read alot. I like to share, compare and find new reads and authors. So...what are you reading???? Well after working 10 hours that day I was exhausted and was ready for a nice glass of wine and to put my feet up and relax. The trip home took me an hour due to traffic on Wilshire Blvd so I was stressed over that and it was my FIRST day at work. But it was ok once on the freeway going home. I called John to let him know that I was on the way. He said OKAY any ideas on supper. I said No and told him I would see him when I got home. As I got home I walked through the door and was pleasantly surprised. A bouquet of 6 red roses and some star lilies graced our table in a new vase I had just bought in Tucson. GORGEOUS!! 24. I was curious if any of you have ever felt like you need to confront someone in your past that may have not treated you the way you deserved when you were heavier. I remember when Jenny Jones used to have those "Geek to Sheik" shows or the like and these people that were picked on in school made major transformations and confronted the people that made them feel like shit in school. Would that actually bring closure to pain you felt in the past that may still be haunting you?

about diet drinks. http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2005/06/13/health/webmd/main701408.shtml Really makes you think about what you put in your body. I personally feel that most people drinking diet drinks and thinking it is making them healthier are fooling themselves. I never drink them just because I can't stand the taste and the aftertaste. One of my aunts always carries around a giant travel mug of diet coke. She has been on Weight Watchers for years, but has never had any lasting success. I keep wanting to tell her that while diet drinks may be better calorie-wise than regular cokes, she would still be better off drinking water.

Here's how the scam works: Two seriously good-looking 30 year-old well-built guys come over to your car as you are packing your shopping in the trunk. They both are shirtless and start wiping your windshield with a rag and Windex, with their highly defined chest muscles and rock-hard abs exposed. It's impossible not to look. 1.) Fine: This is the word women use to end an argument when they are right and you need to shut up 2.) Five Minutes: If she is getting dressed, this means half an hour. Five Minutes is only five minutes if you have just been given five more minutes to watch the game before helping around the house. 3.) Nothing: This is the calm before the storm. This means something, and you should be on your toes. Arguments that begin with nothing usually end in fine. 4.) Go Ahead: This is a dare, not permission. Don't Do It! 5.) Loud Sigh: This is actually a word, but is a non-verbal statement often misunderstood by men. A loud sigh means she thinks yo…

I just went to the bathroom and my brother, who sleeps in the nude, opened the door -- nude. He's not a prepossessing sight. My friend also sleeps in the nude. I can't really imagine that. I tried it once when it was really hot and felt horribly exposed, but I think lots of people sleep in the nude and I'd like to hear from you all about it. Maybe I'm the weird one. I was discussing this with students today and they said they got hung up in their clothes if they sleep in a tee shirt or something. I sleep in a 3X nightgown which is pretty comfortable since I now wear about a 1 1/2 X. Lord, I hope for a 1X before long.

This is based on a pattern of small quakes that have become deeper and moved northward over the last few days. There has been an earthquake preparedness program in our area for years now. I'll just make sure I keep my car gassed up.

He replied, "Well, I've spent my whole life breaking colts, working cows, going to rodeos, fixing fences, pulling calves, bailing hay, doctoring calves, cleaning my barn, fixing flats, working on tractors, and feeding my dogs, so I guess I am a cowboy.
