No, I'm not shaving my head...BUT I have registered to be a volunteer for the St. Baldrick's Foundation event in my area. Why don't you do the same? What is the St. Baldrick's Foundation anyway? The mission of the St. Baldrick's Foundation is to raise awareness and funds to cure kids' cancer by supporting cancer research and fellowships. Visit the ST. BALDRICK'S FOUNDATION website to learn more about how you can become involved by being either a shavee, barber/stylist, an event organizer or volunteer for an event.

Ok so this is going to sound either mean or wierd. My best friend (Nadine's) good friend (Danielle) is a nice girl, she means well. However she has no idea how to interact with other females. She has only had a couple of female friends in her life and she is 25. My friend suggested that we put together a sort of a manual for her (and she wants us to). A manual that will outline the do's and dont's of being a good friend. Kind of a what to do and a what not to do. She is very inappropriate and she does not think before she speaks. ex. of her behavior- One night we were out at a club with Nadine and Danielle's coworkers. ANother good friend of ours, Mindy was out. When Mi…

Hello y’all! I’m on my second semester of college now! This semester I’m taking Weight training and Bellydancing along with two other real classes that have homework YUCK! I started a “Gamerparents” blog (see my sig for link) basically just use and video game things. The idea is to get my kids to do reviews on the games they are playing and while 1. It’s fun research 2. They get some typing and writing skills 3. I think it will help them, even if it just knowing more about the game they are playing. 4. It’s fun watching them DO their research! A few months ago I signed up to be a contestant in a Miss Video Game contest. Voting started on Jan. 20th and I sure co…

Jesse Jackson, while visiting a primary school class, found himself in the middle of a discussion related to words and their meanings. The teacher asks the Rev. Jackson if he would like to lead the discussion on the word "tragedy." So the illustrious leader asks the class for an example of a "tragedy." One little boy stood up and offered: "If my best friend, who lives on a farm, is playing in the field and a runaway tractor comes along and knocks him dead, that would be a tragedy." "No," says the great Jesse Jackson, "that would be an accident." A little girl raised her hand: "If a school bus carrying 50 children drove over a cliff, killing everyone insi…

After the surgery, have any of you ladies felt an increase in your libido? I'm thinking my husband wants to have his cake and eat it too.

I'm hoping that someone here can help me out. I have a logo for my husband's business that was designed in photoshop. I don't use photoshop, nor do I know how to use it. I want to know if it's possible to change the file type to a jpg or tiff so that I can use the logo in Microsoft Publisher. Is it possible? How can I do it? Thanks for the help.

Hey Guys I've got a bunch to unload and ask about and hopefully some other newbies can benefit from you really wise lap sages . I was banded 11/11 in NYC..So far I am doing great weight loss wise. I know men have this weirdly unfare advantage but I'm taking advantage of it. I started my journey 2 weeks pre-surgery at my heaviest weight ever of 302.5. This morning 12/17 I am 256. 46 1/2 loss is really cool and I am so psyched. But............ I started eating solids last Thursday and then got my first fill Monday 1.2 cc...I'm really so unclear about what will go thru and be easy and what gets stuck and will make me feel so sick..My first solid experiment was with my …

The other day I posted that I was being considered for a job doing enrichment seminars on cruises. Today I got the official word and a list of 10 cruises (all to Hawaii) that I can choose to work on. I am literally beside myself and my DH is not home yet for me to tell.... he is going to freak....he has been through so many of my schemes and my dreams and my plans....he will not believe what I have pulled off now. I am sooooo excited.

While I was in the emergency room with my mother last week, TIVO scheduling messed up on night two of the auditions, so I haven't seen it. Is anyone able and willing to send a copy to me? I'd so gladly pay for Mom and I to get to see it. Please pm me if you can help me out, I'm so sad about missing it!

The best comback line ever The police arrested Ward Branham, a 22-year-old white male, resident of Lethbridge, Alberta, in a pumpkin patch at 11:38 p.m., on Friday. Ward will be charged with lewd and lascivious behavior, public indecency, and public intoxication at the Calgary courthouse on Monday. The suspect explained that as he was passing a pumpkin patch he decided to stop."You know, a pumpkin is soft and squishy inside, and there was no one around there for miles. "At least I thought there wasn't," he stated in a phone interview. Ward went on to say that he pulled over to the side of the road, picked out a pumpkin that he felt was appropriate to his purposes, cut…

Oh you guys, I have this total broken heart. I feel like there's no end in sight right now. I broke up with my boyfriend last Tuesday, right before friggin Christmas! You know, he was amazing, and even though I ultimately broke it off, I want the bastard back. I don't think I'll ever be able to find someone I am that attracted to mentally and physically again. He has the SAME personality as me! The stars seemed to align with him. But oh, it's an emotional rollercoaster ride with him right now. He was recently divorced (like 2 months ago), and needs time to heal and recover... without dragging me along for the ride. Am I a stupid female? I sorta feel like one. I just am…

By golly, I have to admit that I had never given this any consideration, but did you know that if a man wants to take his wife's last name when they marry, it's no easy thing (in most states)? When I got married, I just took my marriage license to the DMV and they changed the last name on my DL. I also had to send a certified copy of the license to Social Security. Everything else was easy.....the credit cards, bank accounts, etc. But a California man and woman tried, using those steps, to change HIS last name to HERS and guess what? It was a big no-go. So they called up the ACLU, who, of course, promptly filed suit against the state of California. A 2004 Harvard …

I decided that I want to wear the items of clothes that I feel comfortable in. I honestly look good in that early 90's style of vests over white big shirts and black pants. I look nice in Rayon dresses and feel comfortable in them. When looking for items on the internet, they are kind of hard to find. The pretty "Boho" look items on ebay, are totally my style, but my sister says that they are not "in style". Does it really matter? Everyone wears what they want to now a-days, seems to me. From leather clad people, to lacey dressy people. What do you think?

Hi all, Thought I'd start a new thread to see how those of us who had to self-pay financed our surgeries. We took out a second mortgage with payments of $350. per month. Me... I teach school and our ins. refused to pay. I also tutor afterschool for 2 hours per day. I've always baked cakes and sweets for friends. Well, soon after my surgery, people began asking me to bake a cake here and there and asked how much I'd charge. I told them I couldn't charge since I don't have a license to sell baked goods but they could make a donation to recent medical bills we'd accumulated. (They have no idea it was for lapband surgery. Only my DH knows about the surgery.) Well...long…

Yolanda King Remembers Parents, Civil Rights Movement In Speech (CBS/AP) The eldest daughter of Martin Luther King Jr. and Coretta Scott King evoked the civil rights movement while reminding those remembering her parents that America has not yet reached the promised land of peace and racial equality. "We must keep reaching across the table and, in the tradition of Martin Luther King Jr. and Coretta Scott King, feed each other," Yolanda King said Sunday at Ebenezer Baptist Church during a presentation that was part motivational speech, part drama. King, 51, spoke a day before Monday's celebration of the civil rights leader's birthday, the first since the death last…

I bought a great pair of Chico brand gaucho pants Friday at the local re-sale shop (see photo below). I don't shop much at Chico's....I'm cheap and they aren't. So I forgot about their peculiar sizing. These pants are a Chico's size 3 and are too big. I want to sell them on e-bay but have no idea what "real" size catagory to put them in. So.....those of you who shop at Chico's, please give me an idea of what a size 3 might equate to. Edited to add....I will sell them to any LBT member for $7.00 (what I paid) plus postage.

The "What if...?" list is a list of three celebrities that you're "allowed" to cheat on your SO with should the opportunity arise. Jokingly of course. You're allowed to change who's on the list, but you can only have three at any one point so if someone comes into favor, you have to recycle someone else. So who would be on your list? How about your SO's? For me it would be Ryan Reynolds, Gary Dourdan, and Brendan Fraser. For DH it would be Mini Driver, Sarah McLeod (Rosie Cotton in Lord of the Rings), or Billie Piper.

A good looking man walked into an agent's office in Hollywood and said "I want to be a movie star." Tall, handsome and with experience on Broadway, he had the right credentials. The agent asked, "What's your name?" The guy said, "My name is Penis van Lesbian." The agent said, "Sir, I hate to tell you, but in order to get into Hollywood, you are going to have to change your name." "I will NOT change my name! The van Lesbian name is centuries old, I will not disrespect my grandfather by changing my name. Not ever." The agent said, "Sir, I have worked in Hollywood for years... you will NEVER go far in Hollywood with a name like Penis van Lesbian! I'm telling you, y…

Hello, I had a situation last night that is really making me question myself. I never thought of myself as being an emotional eater, and still don't think I am. I would never eat when I got depressed or angry pre-band. Post band, I'm finding that the hunger control is all I need to be successful at weight loss. So I don't know if this issue I'm about to explain is "emotional eating" or what it is. Here's what happened: Last night, my friend came over to my house and she brought with her three slices of cake for her, me and my husband. All were chocolate, but they had different frostings. She said we could all share the slices. I went upstairs to take a shower, and…

ONE MAN'S STORY... If you read this without laughing out loud, there is something wrong with you. This is dedicated to everyone who ever attempted to get into a regular workout routine. Dear Diary: For my fortieth birthday this year, my wife (the dear) purchased a week of personal training at the local health club for me. Although I am still in great shape since playing on my college football team 25yrs ago, I decided it would be a good idea to go ahead and give it a try. I called the club and made my reservation with a personal trainer named Belinda, who identified herself as a 26 yr. old aerobics instructor and model for athletic clothing …

I am sure us woman can relate to this I am not sure who wrote it but it was posted in my docs office yesterday and I had to take a copy of it and share it with everyone The Woman in the Mirror Walking past the mirrored glass, I take a timid peak. I see a woman staring back, I am to choked up to speak. The puffiness, at last is gone, the skin pink and glowing. The many pounds that melted off, Finally, now is showing. Hard to believe until recently, the same woman was dying. Stuffing the food to ease the pain, Heartbroken and crying. Life revolved around each snack,She lived for every meal. Anything to numb the hurt, She did not want to feel. When did sh…

This is long....but a great story, nonetheless. My grandson is 17 and due to a congenital problem, he has less than half his colon left (after numerous surgeries). Today his mom and dad took him to see my gastrointerologist. Nick was tired and kind of snoozing on the table while the doctor talked to his folks. My DIL mentioned in passing that Nick wants to get a tattoo and she and her husband (both of whom are tattoo-free) told him absolutely not. The doctor obliged her by pointing out to Nick all the hazards of tattoo parlors/needles. Then he turned back to talking about "short gut syndrome", and related Nick's condition to a person who has had bypass surgery. …

I'm trying to understand what type of music falls into the "emo" category. My young'en cousins were discussing this with me and I'm just not getting it. They told me it's emotional, boys liking girls, stuff like that. But lots of songs are like that, though not considered emo. So what makes emo different from anything else? What bands are emo bands? Or songs are emo songs? Would Snow Patrol's "Run" be emo?

Anyone have any experience taking conjugated linoleic acid and its effects good or bad? I read some interesting material on the internet about scientific studies done using this nutritional supplement (Omega 6 fatty acids/conjugated lineolic acid) to assist persons in reducing abdominal fat and lowering blood sugar levels. Any feedback would be appreciated. If Dr. C is in the house would he be able to give any insight into this topic?

Interesting? drinks Show Your Personality Before you order a drink in public, you should read this! 7 New York City bartenders were asked if they could 'nail' a woman's personality based on what she drinks.Though interviewed separately, they concurred on almost all counts. The results: PART A: WOMEN-DRINKS, WHO THEY ARE, & YOU! Drink: Beer Personality: Causal, low-maintenance; down to earth. Your Approach: Challenge her to a game of pool. Drink: Blender Drinks Personality: Flaky, whiny, annoying; a pain in the ass. Your Approach: Avoid her, unless you want to be her cabana boy. Drink: Mixed Drinks Personality: …

I have been thinking for some time now that I want to get permanent makeup (tattoo) for my eyeliner and lip liner. I personally only know a handful of people who have had this done and out of them one person had a very bad experience and had to have corrective cosmetic surgery. The others all love it. Do you have it? Good, bad or indifferent.

My favorites (no particular order): Superman Returns Blood Diamond Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest Ice Age: The Meltdown Cars Happy Feet Rocky Balboa Least Favorite: The Departed (good except for crappy ending) Casino Royale (liked Daniel Craig, but not a fan of Bond movies) X-Men: The Last Stand (crappy compared to first 2)

I stumbled across a recipe for 'Tex-Mex Cheesy chicken Chowder", and it states as one of the ingredients : 1 - 2.64-ounce package country gravy mix This could be something that we just don't have here (Canada), OR, it just might be a totally different name than what we call it. I think it must be a powdered gravy mix, right? But what makes it 'country'? Thanks in advance! Mandi

Hi all. I was just wondering what everybody thinks about the size acceptance movement? I think from a point of coming to some kind of peace with your weight/physical self it is valid, but I struggle to accept it from a health/wellbeing point of view. Is it healthy to never consider the implications that being morbidly obese can bring? I also cringe when I hear people use the term '' People of size''. I am all for people learning to come to love themselves and have some inner peace, but should we never consider that being morbidly obese can have terrible consequences? Susannah
