I decided that I want to wear the items of clothes that I feel comfortable in. I honestly look good in that early 90's style of vests over white big shirts and black pants. I look nice in Rayon dresses and feel comfortable in them.

When looking for items on the internet, they are kind of hard to find. The pretty "Boho" look items on ebay, are totally my style, but my sister says that they are not "in style".

Does it really matter? Everyone wears what they want to now a-days, seems to me. From leather clad people, to lacey dressy people.

What do you think?

I am reading this, preband. It's so true regarding sizes. LB is the worst. I always try on 2 of an identical item and size because one will always fit better than the other.

I actually thought about this yesterday. I think when I hit goal, I will look for the services of a stylist.. ala... t.v's "What Not To Wear". I like nice clothes, and tend to dress in classic conservatives and mostly black. But, one thing I've noticed is that no matter what my size (22 or 14) I wear the same type of clothes.... It's just a weird rut you get into. I think stepping out of your comfort zone (both in what you like and what you feel comfortable in) and getting an honest, unbiased opinion, is a good thing. You might look good in a V-neck or an A-line, but if you don't try it, you may never know. What looks good on you at a size 22,(and when you were age 22) might not look good on you in a size 16 at age 40.

I think my style is a mixture of all different styles. I like a mix of things but my basic "child of the 70's" comfy/bohemain hippie look usually wins out. I just like casual comfortable clothes. I dress up when I have to, but I like comfortable, somewhat loose fitting clothes. I have always pretty much liked t-shirts/soft jeans or long flowing skirts and funky shoes (but not heels). I like soft clothes. Touch and feel are important to me. If it is stiff, scratchy or not soft, I WON'T wear it, no matter how nice it looks...period. I look back at older pics, I guess I'm in a rut, no matter what my size, my style is pretty much the same.

I have to say, the one fashion trend that I love, love, love, that I am so glad is back is wedge shoes!!! I hate hate high heels, and for a shortie like me....the wedge shoes/sandals are so great, they are comfortable and can still add an inch or two for the terminally short.

Me, too, Missy! I bought my first pair of wedgies when I was 15 and have loved them ever since.

I love bright, funky color combinations. One of my all time favorite outfits (anyone remember "Units"?) was lime green and royal purple.

Two other ladies I know who were banded by my surgeon and I have agreed that once we're all at goal, or at least at the size we'll wear when we're at goal, we're going to submit for a group What Not to Wear. They've featured individial WLS guests before, and groups (like the group of girls meeting for their highschool reunion), but not a combination of the two.

I've always declined being on TV, but I would do that in a heartbeat. And I'd die happy if Nick had his way with my hair.

When I lived in Columbus, the Macy's had a stylist on staff. She was awesome. And free. It was great fun to use her services. I believe that many Macy's and Nordstrom's offer the same services. Free. You make an appointment and there is a private dressing room and she went out and got all the clothes and brought them back.

I had a friend who did professional quality sewing. She made me knit stuff that looked just like Units - right down to the little vent holes under the arms.

Nick always cracks me up because when his hair is in shaggy mode, he looks like a hobbit. He really does.

Yes...they were made out of a knit fabric and were pretty much "one size fits all". You could buy pants, skirts, different tops....all in a variety of mix and match colors, plus accessories.

Well....what if your DAUGHTER was about 10 when Units were in style? Would that make you feel a lot younger? It sure makes me feel OLD!
