The answer to this may be somewhere already but I haven't been able to find it. I am on a time released medication which I have still been able to take in capsule form (I have not had a fill yet). I am getting my first fill on June 4th and will have to empty the capsule into some applesause and swallow it once I have restriction. My doctor does not know for sure if the fact that the digestion process is slowed down will affect the effect of the medication. Anyone have info on this?

I was banded in Sept. 06. I feel I have been doing very well and have lost 52 pounds. My sister called me last week and told me that mam has stomach cancer. they went to see the oncologist yesterday. He says without chemo she has 3 to 6 months, with chemo 9 months. My mother is 80 years old with a myriad of other health issues. I know that I have been blessed to have her in my life for the past 42 years. Many people, my DH included, have had their mother around for a lot less time. I have always been a stress eater. I am craving sugar like I never have before. I have always been a chocolate eater and feel like diving into a bag of m&m's and coming up for…

Well we had a cancellation for a single traveler with a roomie. First person to PM me gets it. That is the only fair way to do it. You will get the original pricing. It must be a female and you must be a single traveler (you will be sharing a room with another female bandster traveling solo). available for $771.96 -- a total steal, as the rate has almost doubled if you were to book it right now at the going rates. This is a one person deal. Only for a female, single traveler. We have had a ton of late requests but this is something that has just come up and you can have the original price!!!! You must be ready to book and pay now. Ready, set, hurry and P…

Back when my kids were growing up, I took in a lot of strays....stray kids, stray dogs, stray cats. A few lived with us (a few kids....LOTS of dogs and cats) but most of them I just fed when they were hungry, rescued them when they needed a ride or a loan. I spotted many a ten or twenty til payday. Sometimes I got it back, sometimes not. Yesterday one of my stray kids ran into my youngest son. I had not seen him for about 15 years. He got my address and showed up on my doorstep, with flowers! He's married, with kids, and owns his own business. He told me that he has thought of me often and would never forget what I had done for him when he was a teen. He did n…

I don't know if this is the right place for these comments. I've been on another forum where someone who claims to be a nurse and isn't gives out loads of bad information. I pesonally can't take anymore of it, as I hate to see new people misled. I'm hoping this forum is a kinder place to be without fighting and arguing for no reason. I would like to think it is a helpful place to get good information and not be bogged down by this person who is bringing this other forum to its knees. I have a good friend who told me about this forum called WasABubbleButt..where are you sweetie? I need to hear something positive right now. I am so completely burned out by the meanne…

Hey All, What do people think of the book "The Secret"? I have read it, and initially thought it had a few good concepts re thinking positively and visualizing success etc, but I am not sure how I feel about it right now. Have you read it or had any inspiring occurances come about as a result of enlightenment from it? Susannah

Hey Everyone, There is something that has been bothering me for awhile, and it would be great to get some advise about it. As many of you know I'm American and my husband is Portuguese. When I graduated from university I moved here to Portugal to be with him. The process for marriage here in Portugal is that everyone has to go to the court house and get married first. Then if they want a church wedding they can do it after. Hubby and I were planning a church wedding, so we went in jeans and t shirts to the court house, without our rings, with nothing, basically to sign a piece of paper to say we were married. A few weeks after that the wedding plans fell apar…

Why am I so fat????!!!!! Why are other as big as me and bigger? It's not like I am enjoying a single minute of this. I am so miserable and can't function in life normally-- like even walking and breathing. Why can't I just stop bending my elbow? Oprah says you won't be able to keep the weight off until you find the reason you over-eat. I can give a million reasons why I eat. I'm very busy with five kids and business. I love the taste of food. I eat to Celebrate. I eat when I'm emotional. I was raised in a house and society that was very superficial and pressuring. Bla, bla, bla... BUT I'm miserable this way and I have been trying to stop this for years and can't just st…

I received a book chain letter- you send a paperback to the person on the list and sent the letter to 6 people enclosing 6 address labels so they send to 6 - you get the drift. I picked one of my books to send and copied the letter and realized that i have no friends that read anymore! I am an inhaler of books and while I don;t have the time I used to I still manage to read a bit everyday- even if it is in the car waiting for my DH or in the bathroom - whereever. There are books all over my house and I turned my dd's old room into a library and sewing room ( also she now can't move back home!!- oh I guess we could find room somewhere if we had to). So anyway, if ther e ar…

Breasts are not a speed bump to the promised land. Yes, we want you to be more verbal. No, burping doesn't count. Kissing is something that you need to stay engaged in, even if all the blood is rushing out of your head and into other parts of your body. If we're crying and you're holding us and get a hard-on, we automatically deduct points. And getting a boner while we're sleeping next to you is not an excuse to wake us up. This is not what they mean by serendipity. We pay closer attention to your hands than you think. It's bad enough if you don't have manly hands, but if your nails are longer than ours, forget it. You don't get a vote in the…

I had my surgery on April 17, I was on the liquid diet, started with the mushy food, quickly noticed I had no problems eating. I started eating more & more with no problems. I have yet to have a fill, but I'm wondering is this normal? I've been eating just like I was before the surgery.

So, before I can get a lapband, I have to go get an endoscopy/colonoscopy done in a few weeks. Both procedures are going to be done simultaneously. Has anyone else here done that? What should I expect? watch out for? be prepared with? I've had an endoscopy done once, 14 years ago, but never a colonoscopy. Do they normally do them simultaneously?

Thank you everyone for all your prayers for my daughter. Her liver transplant evaluation went great. We won't know until two weeks if she made the list but one of the transpalnt doctors and her RN Coorindator said they saw no red flags why she would'nt.Baylor now has two lists you can be placed on. The Baylor in Dallas and Baylor All Saints in Ft. Worth. It was a long week but I have never met such dedicated transplant people that Baylor has. Most days were testing from 8til 4 but they put us up in an apartment that was very nice and very close to the hospital. The junior league of Dallas prepared dinner for us on Thursday and we were able to meet seven liver transplant pat…

I got an A in my class this past semester. And since I got an A last semester too that means my graduate GPA is officialy a 4.0. Granted its only for 8 credit hours thus far and very light loads, but still, its a 4.0! I've never had one of those before. Nope, not even close. I think thats pretty good for a learning disabled narcolpetic esp considering we are still working out some of the narcolepsy treatments. I'm just super excited! I'm going to go full time in the fall. Lets see if I can keep it then! So far grad school is definitely my favorite.

Hey guys, I've got a question hopefully someone with puff pastry knowledge can help me with. I'm making a quiche, using puff pastry as the crust (frozen, from the store). It says to put it in a GLASS pie plate though, and I don't have one. I'm wondering if there's some secret I don't know that you can only do puff pastry in glass plates, (oven proof, I know) or did whoever made up the recipe just put that to mess with me?! Can I use my regular old metal non-stick pie plate?? Thanks Mandi

This summer is going to be so busy! My annual family vacation/reunion is probably going to be in late June, I have to attend two nutrition classes that are two or three weeks apart in Memphis (a good 7 hour drive, one way) in either May or June or July, my brother is getting married in a civil ceremony sometime in early July, and my surgery is probably going to be sometime in late July (if they can move it up). On top of all that, I have to do more field work this summer, so I am going to have to figure out when I can get my advisor to let me take time off to do all this. :help: I am probably going to wind up missing a good chunk (if not all) of the family vacation/r…

Today, Saturday May 12, I am packing my car to go see my dear mother. I've only seen her once since Thanksgiving and honestly, I really hate that. You see, I love my mother. She is about to be 70 yrs old. She is a hardshell of a woman. Worked all her life, far too hard for us kids. She didn't make great choices about the men in her life, thus, we all suffered. But my mother never faultered in putting one foot in front of the other in order to raise us the best she knew how. We were so poor, I didn't even realize how much until the past few years, but she gave us integrity and honesty and tried to teach us self responsibility and love for something bigger than oursel…

The semester is officially over! I came out of it with a 4.0 and no finals to take. Now I get to start my fieldwork again. Yay. (Meant with all sarcasm possible.) Lots more work and less pay. What more could I ask for? Oh well, at least I am completely through with the course-work for my Master's degree. I'll probably be teaching labs and classes full time next semester while I work on my thesis. I am hoping to graduate in December.:clap2:

If you live in Texas and have a daughter, age 11 to 18, most County health depts offer the HPV vaccine for $15.00 per shot. I know that Dallas Co and Tarrant Co do....I haven't checked all the other counties, but I would definitely give them a call. The charge at the doctor's office is $165 per shot (it's a series of 3) and insurance will not pay for them.

Hello, I am looking for anyone that can help me. DISCLAIMER up front, I do not want anyone to be sorry for me. I appreciate it, but that is not why I am posting. I want to know if anyone else has had breast issues. I found a lump about the diameter of the top of my pinky, and it is pretty long or at least feels like it. I have no pain, but decreased sensation there. Also it is like a divot and a ripple on top of that. It looks VERY weird. I went to my Gyno yesterday, but after I got there they told me she was in surgery, so I waited over an hour to be fit into someone else's scheduale. The Dr did an exam, got no medical history, no family history. She said since it…

I want to get a tatoo. Have been thinking about it for a while. I want a butterfly (not too big on my upper back/right shoulder area). I feel I am a butterfly since having my lap band surgery. I have one issue. I found out during my pre-op testing that I was diabetic and I have been on a small dose of oral meds once a day for it since. I go back to doc for follow-up on 5/23 for the diabetes. He anticipates that as I continue to lose weight, I will not need any meds. So far I am doing great. I have lost 33 ponds. I am leary about getting a tatoo with my diabetes diagnosis. Don't know if it could cause a possibe reaction or interfere with healing. Has anyone diabetic had a…

I have PCOS and with it, the requisite beard and mustache. Ugh! I'm sick of shaving. So... I went in for my first laser hair removal treatment a couple weeks ago. OMG it hurt like h*ll. And stank (burnt hair, yum) My chin was swollen and red for a couple days -- I iced it like crazy. What was weird was that the hair was still there, and I was still shaving every morning, and then it wasn't anymore -- took a week or so after treatment before it was gone. I've got at least 4 treatments left, and then maintenance after that. Anyone done this and have tried-n-true suggestions besides icing that will help with the pain during the treatment? The girl who does it s…

I caught endless affectionate grief from a friend lastnight, because our dog's real name is "Mr. Hobbs", but - as he put it - "every time you turn around you're calling him something different." My names for him include: Hobby, Bobbins, Bobbly, Hobby Lobby, Swiss Family Hobinson, Hobinson Crusoe, Hobbynero (think habanero), and many many others... not to mention a variety of "Something McSomething" names that I make up as I go including Muttly McFattbutt, Jigglypuff McButt, Muttly McCrackhead, Bobbly McDealybopper, Jigglydoodle McPuffyhead, etc. I can't list them because they're constantly changing. ... and really, whatever strikes my fancy at the given moment. …

My brother's girlfriend probably miscarried today. I don't know all the details, but she spent most of the day at one of the hospitals in Memphis. I don't know what's going to happen now. They were going to get married this summer, but I don't know if that will still happen.

I have 3 weddings to attend in the next 6 weeks. Fortunately they're all for unrelated people so I can get away with the same dress! Score! So anyway. I can post a pic later, but description will have to do for now. The fabric is kind of champagne in color. Flowy. Very matte. I have no idea what the fabric is, but it hangs smooth and has some swing to it. The top is a sleeveless (but with thick "straps") cross top, and the fabric is kind of gathered making "pleats". The cross is sort of plungy so there's more than normal chest showing, but it's still classy. There are tiny champagney-gold beads that give it a sort shimmer - it doesn't really look beaded. It has an empir…

Ok I have a problem. I would welcome any and all feedback. Here's the situation. My brother is about to get married. Great, right? Well Im not so sure. Heres the thing he is marring my ex best friend. We had been friends before him and her ever hooked up. (for about 5 years). Well back in October we had a fall out over her wedding. She is a very demanding person and within in a matter of a month she decided she was wanting to get married in july of the following year (her 2nd marriage) and have a med sized wedding. Well the thing is she expcected everyone to jump at her every demand. She wanted me to get my brides maid dress bought right away. She didnt care where I got i…

I just found out this weekend that my brother's girlfriend is pregnant. It was a huge surprise. He'd just broken up with his girlfriend of a few years (they had even bought a house together) in December and started dating a new girl in January. So, I got to meet my future sister-in-law (they had talked about getting married before they found out, so decided to go ahead and do it) for the first time the night before I found out that she was pregnant. Apparently, she's due around the first of the year. Just call me Auntie Lauren!

3:55 p.m. CT May 4, 2007 LIMA, Peru - Carmen Gonzalez plucks one of the 50 frogs from the aquarium at her bus stop restaurant, bangs it against tiles to kill it and then makes two incisions along its belly and peels off the skin as if husking corn. She’s preparing frog juice, a beverage revered by some Andean cultures for having the power to cure asthma, bronchitis, sluggishness and a low sex drive. A drink of so-called “Peruvian Viagra” sells for about 90 cents. Gonzalez adds three ladles of hot, white bean broth, two generous spoonfuls of honey, raw aloe vera plant and several tablespoons of maca — an Andean root also believed to boost stamina and sex drive — into a …

My 14 yr old has been studying art history at school. He and a friend were so inspired by the "Group of Seven" (Canadian artists) that they wanted to emulate them. They decided to "go into the wilderness and paint".

The "wilderness" is a little island just out in front of where we live. The problem is, is that we're on an estuary, right at the end of one of those mud bottomed fingers and are very dependent on tides. We can only get out to (and back again for that matter) the main Water at high tide. It's a very narrow window of opportunity.

They couldn't get out to the island until 8:…
