Allrighty people.....one of the perks to moving across the ocean? Ya can't take the cars with ya. I have ordered a new 2008 Mazda 3 i-touring that is completely loaded! And the best part? It's purple!!!! Hubby was initially against the color since he said he could never drive it (to girly) but I won him over in the end! It should be coming in mid July so thats perfect timing for me. Here are a few photos, its black cloth interior (they had leather option, but leather in Florida..ehhh...)

Hello All, I have made the decision to start the process, I am 35 with Type 2 Diabetes with a BMI of 46. I spent the past weekend researching the lap band procedure. My husband is very supportive and did a little research himself. All the threads had great info and I will call my insurance company in the morning to see if they cover weight loss surgery, then I will need to find a Dr. I am a little nerveous, but my weigtht is out of control. I need some serious help :help: and I pray this is the right way to go. I know I can do this and I am READY.

I am the guest blogger at food. I'm giving away a free ebook download from the "Darragha collection" (or one of my books for those who might think I'm talking about something from the Franklin Mint). I'm giving credit where credit is due. Thanks goes to my parents and step-parents, my long-time friends at TLC and my new friends at Lapbandtalk. I would not have had the right mind to make a decision about having lapband surgery without the good influences of TLC, the knowledge I needed to make my decision without Lapbandtalk, nor the financial means without the support of my parents. Join me! Thank you, Darragha

I am trying to learn how to use myspace... and am pretty computer literate so you would think it wouldnt be that hard! My daughter put a background on my page but other than that there really isnt much info about me. I can do the blog but it only shows the title for each entry. How in the world can I blurb? I cant find it anywhere?? Any other pointers would be great too. Thanks! Oh and I need friends, my daughter has informed me its lame not to have several to talk to on there.

I'm psyched! No...not psycho... I received my new cover art today for my October release. It's a "vampire" anthology with two other authors. Each tale is quite different. I like it! I like the cover a lot! Darr :whoo:

Quit laughing first of all. I know I'm too old to be going back to college and wouldn't have done it a year ago and 80 pounds heavier so I guess it's kind of a NSV. I have always always always wanted to work in a hospital and I quit college after one year ago a few years back so I enrolled today and classes start 8/10/07 and I'm so excited. I pray I have the strength and energy to finish this time. Pray for me. Just thought I would share. My daugher in-law went with me and enrolled as well so we can go together and she not knowing it would hurt my feelings said on the way down there today, "I admire someone at YOUR age going back to college". I could have strangled…

I am on the 800-calorie pre-op diet. Tonight I made meatball Soup with organic ground turkey, almond meal, roasted carrot soup as the base and the rest of it consisted of vegetables that I grew and picked this morning. Patapan squash, zucchini, red onion, tomatoes, leeks, peas. I chopped everything up and tossed it into the pot. I had 2 meatballs and 1 cup of soup broth tonight for dinner. I am at a grand total of 690 calories for the day, minus 211 for my exercise. CalorieKing rocks, huh? I am hungry! I'm weighing tomorrow on the postal scale (I get applause from the bulk mail clerks). Darr

OK so I was banded in March and have been losing weight much more slowly than I wanted. But, what I HAVE been losing is my darned ENERGY and SLEEP!!! I also have found myself hazy and distracted..more than the usual stuff I can attribute to being a blonde! :-) Anyway, a friend started giving me some supplements. I have been taking Winrgy, and food for Thought for mental clarity and endurance during the day (something I need with a 50-60 hour work week!) and Sleep-Tite to help me stay asleep. Many am I going like crazy during the day and sleeping like the dickens at night!! I highly recommend that you try these products if you are having these problems. Next I am going t…

By JILL ZEMAN, Associated Press Writer 1 hour, 12 minutes ago LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - It's a girl — again — for the Duggars. Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar welcomed their 17th child, and seventh daughter, into the world Thursday. if(window.yzq_d==null)window.yzq_d=new Object();window.yzq_d['VyN2NNGDJHY-']='&U=13beu7vif%2fN%3dVyN2NNGDJHY-%2fC%3d588795.11098932.11669927.1442997%2fD%3dLREC%2fB%3d4608707'; Jennifer Danielle was born at 10:01 a.m. at Saint Mary's Hospital in Rogers, Ark., the Duggars said in an interview. Jennifer weighed 8 pounds, 8 ounces and arrived five days after Michelle's due date. Less than 30 minutes after giving birth, the Duggars already were ta…

I feel like such an idiot. A big Sara Lee cake truck drove by me today and the logo said, "Nobody doesn't like Sara Lee." What the????? All my life I thought it was "Nobody does it like Sara Lee." Where have I been and why haven't the grammar police arrested Sara Lee yet? :cry

There's been a lot of buzz going on about the summer of '67. Where were you and what do you remember? I was 14 and lived in a small relatively isolated coastal town. I went on a youth trip to Montreal and was blown away. There was a big world out there! I made new friends, the music was great and I did drugs for the first time. I also had a frustration that I was so young, too young to hit the road hitchhiking, and too far away from where I perceived the action to be. It was an exciting time. A counsellor once told me that only a very small percentage of women from my strongly working class background achieved the professional level that I had. I really have to attr…

Hi all, Has anyone else noticed that your sex drive has really increased since loosing a lot of weight? I don't think it's just having more confidence in yourself, or is it? I used to want it and think about it once in while, but lately I think about it every day. Someone told me it may be due to fact that males now have more to use now, since that the tummy has gone down? What do you think? :eyebrows:

One of our great (one might say, extreme) LBT success stories may be in an advertisement for the surgeon. That's wonderful, but it got me thinking about advertising--specifically, weight-loss advertising. Do you respond well to stories of wild success with before-and-after pix that put Hollywood to shame? ("I lost 100 lbs in a month and have a whole new life!" says a petite, tan thing in a bikini.) Are these ads likely to appeal to you, and make you think you can do it too? Or do they backfire? I personally do NOT respond to that sort of advertising at all, never have. What is going to make me sit up and take notice is a normal-sized person, saying that he or she has …

Last night at about 3am I felt the worst pain I've ever felt in my life. It was worse than labor. It felt like intense cramps and started in my lower abdomen, dead center (so I knew it wasn't my appendix), and radiated occasionally straight up my centerline to about where my port is. It felt like cramps, a bit like extreme constipation, and it debilitated me. I couldn't move, I felt like I was going to vomit several times, I was pale and had chills and cold sweats, when I got into a position and the pain came on I couldn't move, it was just awful. It lasted about 2 hours and I've been achy and sore all day today. Anyway, I know gallstone pain usually happens much h…

I am giving away clothes like crazy. I have been banded a year and have only lost 40 pounds, but all of my clothes from last year are too big. I have some great clothes that I like a lot, but they have to go. Luckily, I know some ladies who can wear them, but I'm going to go broke buying clothes that more or less fit. I went from a size 20 pants to a size 14 pants so I have a whole lot of expensive size 20 pants. Lately, I've noticed that all of my blouses are too big. They are 2X and seem to have a lot of unnecessary cloth. I bought some extra large Alfred Dunner blouses and they fit. So I'm going to have to buy more new clothes. It's wonderful, but expensive. …

I will really miss Tammy Faye Mesner. I just loved her. She embodied what Christianity is supposed to be about. She was also incredibly smart, funny, and kind. Let me know your thoughts about Tammy, a truly marvelous spirit.

Its a new show I think on TLC and its about these 2 baratric surgeons father and son who perorm mostly gastric bypasses (I havent seen any lap bands done yet). But I was just wondering if anyone saw this and whether or not you thought this was a good idea this show? I mean does it inform or glamorize these procedures? Will it have a positive or negative effect? Will people think these surgeries are for just anyone? Chime in please!

:pound: Three Arkansas surgeons were playing golf together and discussing surgeries they had performed. One of them said, I'm the best surgeon in Arkansas. In my favorite case, a concert pianist lost seven fingers in an accident, I reattached them, and 8 months later he performed a private concert for the Queen of England. The second surgeon said. That's nothing. A young man lost an arm and both legs in an accident, I reattached them, and 2 years later he won a gold medal in track and field events in the Olympics. The third surgeon said, you guys are amateurs. Several years ago a woman was high on cocaine and marijuana and she rode a horse h…

You'd think someone named "gadgetlady" would be able to find it but . . . I'm looking for a product I've seen in catalogs before but now I can't find it. It's a round glider or slider that you put under heavy furniture so you can move it easily. It's about the size of the circle made when you put your thumbs together and your pointer fingers together. It appeared to be dark wood or dark plastic and has some kind of wheels within it. It's not something that needs to be attached to furniture, like a castor, but rather something you just put the furniture on top of. I've searched "castor" and "glider" online and can't find it. We're replacing our floor and I have an…

I'm sure no one here remembers, but last year I was up for a job -- a job I used to have as executive director of a nonprofit, for 15 years, before resigning at the end of 1999 because of family needs. In 2006 the woman who replaced me was retiring, so I thought long and hard about picking up the reins again. Ultimately I decided to apply, because it was MY job, my identity, for so long and ever since I left there I've felt professionally adrift (in a new career as an insurance broker, who wouldn't?). I loved that job and with changes in my life it would be very possible to take it up again. But in 2006 they passed me over and hired someone else. I heard through the gra…

Hey everyone, Well yesterday I went to my step brother's wedding at my Dad's house. My step Mom and I did all the flowers for the wedding.( Which by the way was really lots of fun. ) The weather was just beautiful as was the bride and everything else. So here's what I'm getting at. My Dad who is 75 and will say anything he wants to. Said to me....Did you get a new bra or something ; or did your boobs grow. I said yes I did, but really I had on a very good girdle , it pushes everything up. The fat has to go some where when you push it up. You never know what is going to come out of kids....and old people's mouths. :car: I just wanted to share with everyone some funny m…

We are moving to OK soon and need some feedback from you Texans & Okies with tornado experience......oh, I guess KS is tornado alley too. We just returned from a family trip to find a home and there were 4 touch downs within 2 days. :omg: Looks like a long tornado season for us. We have friends from OH that live in OK now and some have the underground shelters and one has the same room. Not sure which way to go. We signed a one year lease on a home and will be searching for land to build within the next year. We are going to ask the owners of the leased property for permission to install some sort of shelter at our own expense without any expectations of recoverin…

Does anyone know if using a CPAP when you no longer need one, or need a lower pressure, has any bad effects? I've been using mine since shortly before surgery, and for a long time I felt SOOOO much better. But lately, I've been really tired a lot, and realized today that after not using my CPAP for two nights I'm feeling better. More focused and more awake. Now, I realize it could be totally unrelated, but it got me thinking... I do have to go see my sleep doctor again next month and will talk to him also, but wondered about this.

I have read that you sometimes have to wait up to 2 weeks after a fill to get the effect. Why is that?

(got this in my email and it is now my screensaver! enjoy!) In this life, I am a woman. In my next life, I'd like to come back as a bear. When you're a bear, you get to hibernate. You do nothing but sleep for six months. I could deal with that. Before you hibernate, you're supposed to eat yourself stupid. I could deal with that too. When you're a girl bear, you birth your children (who are the size of walnuts) while your sleeping and wake to partially grown, cute, cuddly cubs. I could definitely deal with that. When you're a mama bear, everyone knows you mean business. You swat anyone who bothers your cubs. If your cubs get out of line, you swa…

If anyone (male or female) would be interested in sharing a cabin with an older GENTELMAN who is very clean/non smoker/very respectfull of ones space and privacy/ and has a GREAT sence of humor, please let me know. My DH and other family members don't seem to understand the struggle and problems I've had all my life. I told my DH today I am getting the surgery and he basically said I'm just too lazy to do it the right way. I have worked so hard at diet and excercise to lose in the past and gained it ALL back with a baby. I can't begin to say how depressing this is. I know I will always yo-yo without an intervention. Anyone else have this problem with family? At this point I just want to drive myself to the appointment :cryand not even tell anyone....

Hi All, Just wondering where is the best city/town in America and why?I am planning on crashing your shores next year to cast my peepers on my new neice or nephew in New York. I would like to visit a few quirky type places too. I have been to America before and loved Seattle and San Francisco. I think that I will be mostly travelling on the East Coast this time. Would love to see New Orleans, Memphis etc etc. Sell your city/town to me. Susannah

I just had the second manicure and pedicure of my life today and I feel sooooo decadent! I love it! I have a feeling that I may have overtipped though, which is fine, because I think the girl deserved it but I want to know what is typical. Thank you!! Oh, for the record, I had a mani/pedi with color for $38 dollars and gave her $48.

GO JOE! how perfect would this be: a movie based on a cartoon based on a toy which trades on militant nationalism to make money. It would be the most awesome cannibalistic cluster-fuck of a self-referential marketing mess. And what would they use to promote the movie... some toys? What would that be, like 5 levels of self-marketing? My brain hurts now. Up next! A live action Care Bears movie!! That last bit was sarcasm, I hope

I am very sorry I haven't been in to chat and visit with everyone. Unfortunately the lapband and weight loss has been the furthest from my mind as of late. My most favorite aunt has been suffering for a long time with cancer, they recently told her there was nothing more they could do for her, that she had 10 days to 10 weeks, go home drink martinis and enjoy the rest of your life. She did. And she left us Wednesday. I have been an emotional roller coaster since. I want to feel good about this. Finally she isnt suffering, there is no pain in eating and drinking, no pain in her body. But we (her entire extended family) were just not ready to let her go. I started t…

My sister will be graduating from Pharmacy school in a few months. She knows her stuff. Here was her recent take on the new "wonder" weight loss drug Alli. This made me crack up!!! And kind of disgusted me all at the same time! --------------------------------------------------------- Public Service Announcement : Weight Loss & Alli Warning: This is graphic but someone has to tell it like it is. The news companies and pharmacies are too afraid. After hearing some non-pharmacist friends talking recently, I decided to write this blog to help everyone out. Alli is a great new diet pill that is proven to work and is available over the counter. You can lose up…

I am having a hysterectomy on the 30th of this month. I called my band doc and ask if I needed an unfill, he says no. I have heard both ways, some get a total unfill, and some stay restricted. I really don't want to gain any weight, and since I can't work out I'm glad that my doc wants to leave me with some restriction. I do watch what I eat, but I'm not a calorie counter, I also don't monitor my fat intake, but I do make smart choices. I'm so close to goal, I really don't want to start going backwards now. Any advice. ~Mandy
