I'd like to start a thread about what y'all are doing to help protect our environment and your health. It's a huge issue I'm very passionate about and I'd like to discuss topics, share ideas, that kind of thing. Or are y'all just a bunch of gas-guzzling, non-recycling, hummer-driving nature destroyers? :frown: I thought I was such a good environmentalist - recycled, used cloth bags, tried not to drive the car too much. Then I got into researching it more on the internet - sheesh, there's a lot of stuff you can do. On the environmental side, I'm just trying not to consume as much, buy things with as little packaging as possible, and drive the car even less, bu…

So I put in for this postition through the hospital I work at for the Director position at the Teen Health center that is near my house. I have had my degree since 2002 and have been unable to find a job that involves my degree without a Masters. Well I turned in my resume on Monday and I recieved and email today to set up an interview. I know it is jumping the gun to get all worked up but I am jsut so happy that I have an interview. I have not ever even gotten one before for something is the counseling field so that just makes it more exciting. Oh and I want to thank Wheetsin for the resume cover letter she posted a little while back. Apparently it does work.

Hi friends Ok some of you may know my work drama over the last 6-7 months. Yesterday I counted and realized i had been out of work for 28 weeks. I'm temping but its not the same. Just made me cry. Quit my job to work for a nonprofit and ended up getting screwed 3 weeks later. So glad i quit my job with a retirement plan and benefits to persue a dream... Granted i was miserable but able to pay bills on time.... sigh... Anyway - I applied for a job that i think I would be very good at (alumni relations). i drag my best friend and husband to 2 alumni events to meet the new development guy and the president. Hit it off and really like them both. In December we have a pho…

Its been a while snce I've been here. I am looking for some neutral advice. I think I'm on the verge of leaving my husband. I am sick to death of the arguing, bickering, accusations, etc. Contrary to popular belief, this did not start after my surgery, its been going on for some time. I thought loosing weight would change things but it really hasn't. My husband is a hard working man. He does not go to clubs or bars. He's home every night. He doesn't hang out with other guys and drink and because of those things he thinks he's husband of the year. He does zero to help out around the house (also 7 horses), zero with our daughter and zero with me (unless he wants sex). I can…

Hello my friends. I am in desperate need of help. The organization that I work for has decided to have an Austrailian themed wine tasting fundraiser. Which is a problem for me, because Number 1, I don't know anything about wine, anytime I have wine someone usually selects it for me. Number 2, I don't know anything about Austrailia. So can you please enlighten me. What would be an over the top catchy name for this event, keeping the theme in mind? Some of the board members are selecting the wines and cheeses, but if you have some favorite wines (moderatly priced, of course), please advise. Is there a dessert that is commonly used over there? Tell me everyth…

Ok, so I have an extremely bad case of plantar facsiitis in my left foot that will not respond to treatment. I just had a CAST on for a month, and that did not even help. I have tried cortisone injections, excercises, night splints, you name it. My foot is still killing me after getting my cast removed. I am trying to avoid surgery, so I am going to have orthotics made, which is about the only thing I haven't tried. I am getting extremely frustrated because I can hardly work out because it hurts my foot. (Granted, I have lost 20 pounds since surgery on December 5th with a cast on my foot, but still...that was probably from lugging the cast around with me!!) I was hoping l…

Well, I don't know about everyone else and what part of the country you are in, but here in Florida we are having hard times. My husband owns a construction business, and we are struggling to stay alive. It has been almost a year now and things don't seem to be getting any better. He had about 55-60 employees and now has none. He has gone from boss to actual working man again. We are working but because we are in a family owned business whom he shares with 4 brothers the little profits we are making are barely enough for the business mtg. and other expenses. I work and I make good money but not enough to not live paycheck to paycheck. I have not been in this sit…

There is a 23 year old mother missing from my area. Her husband (the primary suspect) was a local cop at the time she went missing. He is 53 by the way. he retired and even though he is the only suspect he is collecting a $6000 pension each month. Let me repeat he is the ONLY suspect and did his crime while still a cop and is collecting his full pension. He he also has her children and his children from a previous marriage. The previos wife's body....that's right she is deceased also, was exhumed and there were signs of foul play, brusies, and such. Here is a video about her life, the searches and what is going on in my area right now. Please take a look as we are trying …

YAH! Not *the* Project Runway, but a new televised series they're doing in SecondLife. I am a semi-prominent clothing designer in this game.. SecondLife is holding their VERY FIRST TELEVISED COMPETITION. SecondLife Project Runway. I entered and didn't think I'd make it, there are thousands of designers, I sent them some samples of my clothing and an application, and forgot about it. I got a letter this morning, I have been selected with ONLY 11 others to be in it! I am just so excited I can't contain myself. So every week, it's like the real show.. we get a theme, have a time limit to make it, go before judges, etc. Till the last designer is left standing. This…

Has anyone used Nutrisystem after the lapband? :hungry: I am thinking hard about placing an order so I would love to hear if anyone has gone on the system and how did you do with it? Its a lot of money to spend if it doesn't work well with the lapband. Thanks, and Happy New Year

So, what is the deal with men and big breasts? Granted, I know it is all personal preference and all sizes and shapes are attractive, BUT.... Unless surgically placed, natural big breasts *let's say greater than D-cup* are not typically 'pretty and perky'. There are ALWAYS exceptions, but in my case - I would say nope....not pretty nor perky. Scenario: Every potential date that I email/chat with lately *that has yet to see me in person* brings up the topic. Fact: I am a very curvy hour-glass girl with a big chest and a smaller waist. I'm a 36G - when stated, the guys are practically drooling on themselves. One guy even said "marry me - you've just met the bigge…

Hi everyone!! I was wondering if there was anyone here from San Antonio? My husband and I currently live in WA state and are seriously considering moving to TX. My husbands work is opening up a plant in SA and he has put in paperwork for a transfer. Frankly, we are looking for a better life. We hate living paycheck to paycheck and sometimes not even making that! We seem to always be paying the first bill that is threatening to shut us off. I have done quite a bit of research on SA and feel it would be really good move for us. What's the best way to look for a job over there? I would like to have one lined up before we move and not after. Also, I would like t…

I am getting a little preoccupied about clothes. I never seem to have any that fit me anymore. I am looking for good clothes deals. Can we talk about clothing ideas that are flattering for our deflated bodies? Can we share info on sales for online stores or national chains? What size are you wearing at what weight. How are certain brands of clothing sized? Ideas about tops that will cover bat wings in warm weather? Thanks for sharing!

Hello all.. This will be our first banded V-day and I would like to get dh something that won't kill his band or break our VERY small budget. Any thoughts? As for what every man on the board just thought...I'll probably give him one of those too... :pray2: Rain

I don't know WHAT they did everyone!?!? They moved our thread to some section that had nothing to do with us and locked it so we can't even access the thread or read the posts. I am getting in contact with the moderators. I am furious. There was no reason to lock it. Even if they wanted it moved. So, everyone please check in here until we get the issue resolved. I don't want to lose anyone! Brandi

Hello everyone. Now that I have dropped some pounds and have more energy, I have made the committment to do the 3 day breast cancer walk. I will be walking for a total of 60 miles over the 3 days. It will be held in Washington DC (the closest one to me) in October. I have started reaching out to folks for donations. If anyone is interested in donating to me, you can go to my page at: Welcome to the Washington DC Breast Cancer 3-Day: I appreciate any donations, no matter how big or small. It is a great cause and I'm so excited to have the ability to do this. On a side note...my goal is to reach my "ultimate weight loss goal" before the walk. Wish me luck!!!!

I am currently needing to raise money for a Persian that has a cyst right by its eye and needs a dental as well as basic medical. He is huge and so handsome!!! I am also trying to help out this little OLD chihuahua that was dropped off at the shelter(our shelter is a very high kill shelter) She is so sweet and doesnt deserve to die alone at the shelter. Anyway,,, So, I was thinking about raffling off either a digital camera or a gift card to wal mart... Which do yall think would do better? And of course, anyone that would like to get in on the raffle just let me know....…

Twas the Night before Vacation, All dogs out of the house. Nestled on a Ranch, hopefully chasing a mouse. I'm trying to figure - what clothes to pack, keeping my mind busy so not to snack. It's that "in between" stage that's my daily struggle, size 10, 12 or a 14 I juggle. So and extra suitcase I order to hubby, to pack my workout clothes, to fend off the chubby. I'm going to run, workout, and take care & Hope the margaritas dont' kick me too hard - in the derriere. So off from LBT I am for a week, my support system in mind - so not to cheat. I thank you all for the journey right now, and hope my fill keeps me from eating a cow.

I posted a thread called....'HELP please!' Thanks everyone for the GREAT responses! Thanks SuzanneG for the link.......that's great! I now know the approach I can use to comfort him and if the occassion arises I know what to say to defend him if others say he is cheating @weightloss by having the band. I used Nicabate gum to give up smoking.......I am going to cite examples from my life and ask if it's cheating! See, I am using your ideas...... thanks so much for the help! I record calories to control my weight, is that cheating? I understand (THANKS TO EVERYONE HERE) how to defend him now and comfort him. I THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!! I have informed …

Hello I have never had the lap band but I have enjoyed reading all your success stories..... very inspiring everyone! I hope no-body becomes offended that I have entered this board and I have never had the lap band. It's just I need some advice from people who have had the band. THE SITUATION: A friend of mine had the band and he is afraid others will find out he has had the band. Why does he fear telling people? He has been informed by many people (who he has told about the band) that getting the band is cheating at weightloss. I SHOULD STATE I DO NOT AGREE WITH THIS! I'm very insecure when it comes to my husband being around or ogling other naked women. I'm wondering if other women out there feel the same way? DH is off to a bucks party tomorrow night, they are going on a river cruise - with "entertainment". For me it isn't a trust issue - because I do trust him, but there is something inside me that makes me feel absolutely sick about this, and I don't know how to explain it. I'm not sure if it's because of a comparison thing (me vs them), will he be thinking of them when we are intimate arghhh - I don't know. Him looking at pictures doesn't really bother me, but it's a 'in the flesh' thing. He knows how much this hurts me, but i…

Well this morning was quite a deal. Our german shephard and our lab were playing in the bedroom when they started yelping and coughing. Our lab got her lower jaw caught on the collar of the german shephard and they both started to panic and twist. It twisted our shephards collar to choking him. He began to wheeze and run. The lab puppy was being dragged. The shephard began to poop all over the place and his eyes were starting to "pop" out. He was having thick saliva and could not breathe. He began to go limp from not breathing. My husband held the dogs to stop them from twisting tighter and I ran downstairs for the hunting knife. My husband dug the knife in to cut off the…

OMG, my heart bleeds for her and her children. For those who don't know, last night she was taken to a hospital for a psych evaluation. It was reported earlier it was time for her ex to take custody of her kids and she wouldn't let them go. (TMZ.com) I never liked her before but after she had kids, and had problems with depression, I really empathized with her. I had gone through some of the same things after I had my children - depression, lack of self worth, unsupportive husband, etc.. The torment she goes through on a daily basis with those leeches following her around is astonishing. I know we could go into her being rich and famous, for her deserving it, …

You know how skinny girls look in the mirror and say "I'm so fat!" Well, I have that, too. Only mine is backwards. I take a shower, fix my hair all nice, put on makeup and even lipstick, a nice shirt and my standard black elastic waist wide leg pants from the big girls section and look in the bathroom mirror and go, "Wow! I look pretty good! Maybe I will never be on the cover of a magazine, I'm kinda plain, but I look pretty, tall, not skinny but not that fat...not bad!" Woohoo! I'm feeling good, I'm out the door, and then I get the picture back from that day and think, "Who is she?" Whatever happened to the girl I saw in the mirror that day? What was I thinking? I am so …

So I'll tell a little story first. A coworker and I went out shopping today at lunch. We were standing there looking at something, and she went a few steps away to look at something else. Peripherally I noticed someone off to the side, and I had the "sense" that this person was starting at me, but without being completely aware of it. Hard to explain. After a few seconds I DID become aware of it, and normally I would ignore it, but what went through my head was "Maybe it's someone who thinks they know you, and they keeping looking at you trying to figure out if it's "you" or not" (at this point I didn't even know if the person was male or female). So I looked up at …

I had my gall bladder out six weeks after my lap band was put in. And I was a couple months recovering from that. Well its been over six months since it came out and I now have no long term difference, thankfully, except for my skin. My complexion has changed. And darn't, I know its from getting my gall bladder out. I've always been prone to milia, those hard tiny hard little white bumps that don't come out like white heads or black heads. Those are caused, at least in large part, from excess cholesterol on the surface of the skin. But this isn't related to blood levels of cholesterol. For a while I'd done at home microdermabrasion and that has helped me not g…

I had my surgery Sept 4 and have not had too many problems until about 4 days ago. I have a 4cc band, and am filled 1.8cc. My last fill was about 6 wks ago. I have this feeling of a persistent lump in the back of my throat which feels like a "ball" of congestion. Nothing will make it go away, and when I eat, unless I have mushy consistency foods, I've been getting stuck, and wind up throwing up. Could it be that I'm filled too much?, though why would this effect take so long to happen since my last fill. Any thoughts on my problem would be greatly appreciated. Thanks to all, and Happy Holidays!!!
