Hi! Recently, since I've lost 85 pounds, I've noticed that men have been giving me alot more attention. For example I was dressed up the other day for a night out, and I pulled in to get gas. You would have thought Beyonce pulled up the way the guys were acting. I got out of the car and the one guy was like "Helllloooooo!" and then he said "My, my, MY don't you look niiiiice today!!!" I was like "Uh thanks. I'm going out tonight." Then yesterday, two guys in a truck were actually honking and WAVING at me! I'm only halfway to goal so I can't imagine what it's going to be like when I get there! Is this what thin women deal with all day long, every day? I don'…

Anyone ever seen it? It has Meryl streep in it.. it's a 7 hour long mini-series. I have a fascination with the Holocaust, maybe because it's so bizarre I can't comprehend it.. Anyway, I bought it and it looks like Sophie's Choice on the cover, but it doesn't say anything about it. I'm just confused. The Pianist is my current favorite, before I find the 7 hours to watch this new(to me, its not new) one I bought just seeing if anyone else has seen it..is it a good movie?

Does anyone else have this problem? Whenever I don't dream, I wake up with so much energy. But when I DO have one, I wake up exhausted. I have a sleep number bed, so it can't be that. So what gives?:Angel_anim:

What is it with this friends number? So I have no friends - is that supposed to make me feel better, more inspired to lose weight, more wanting to come visit this site? Whose idea was that then? Loads of people who visit this site seem to have no friends. :confused2: Don't you think that people with friends already know it? This is a silly no-use addition to the site and should be got rid of. I'm going to get flamed for this post, but since I have no friends I don't care.

Ya know you can totally customize your profile page, right? I've only seen a handful of people that seem to notice it's there. It's a fun way to build a network of people on LBT that share your interests and all of your pictures and a way to keep in touch regularly with your LBT contacts/friends. Also it's a way to express your personality in how you decide to customize it like changing the colors to your favorites and adding a custom background with any image you want. I haven't been banded yet but I still love coming here to see how everyone is doing. Just thought I'd lecha know

I don't know why I found this so hilarious, but my husband and I were eating some french onion dip, when we noticed the container said "Packed with dairy goodness" I mean, really, who came up with that line?? The first is the up close and the second is a goofy pic (how dh and I imagined a commercial might look).

So, I have been with my current company for over 7 years. While I for the most part like my job I need and want more out of life. I started at the bottom and have moved up the ladder. I think I am as far up the ladder as I am going to get. I have been in the transportation business for 10 years doing billing and accounting. I would like to venture into the medical field. So my question is how do I get my foot in the door? I was thinking of taking some medical billing/coding courses... any one done this or have any suggestions?

I gotta run right now, but I'll be back to post more..... I just thought it would be cool to start a thread on "Forgiveness". Maybe we'll all be better for it. Who is it that you need to forgive? Have you made any progress? Need some help getting there?

Newest addition to the family comes in June, will be an African Grey Congo Parrot. This will be my daughter's bird but as she's 19 and lives at home still was wondering if anyone had advice on names or advice in general if you're familiar with these birds. It is being hand fed and weaned prior to picking him/her up. She and my husband already went out and bought the new abode and it's much nicer than the one I live in! Anyway feel free to comment especially if you don't feel like discussing lap bands today. I will accept names from those who do not have birds:biggrin:. My idea was to have an African name because it is an African bird even though it's never been to…

I love it when husbands, wives, daughters, sons, etc. come onto LBT and post questions. Like: "What can I do for them?" or "She's feeling pain, but is too stubborn - what could it be?" I LOVE THAT. It brings tears to my eyes that there are people who care so much and are looking after their family. It's how it should be, you know? Too many times people don't want to even tell their family. So - thank you to all the family members looking after us banded folks! I, for one, appreciate it.

OK - after another night of the 'battle of the bedclothes', I decided to ask this diverse and large (in number, no relation to physical size) group, your opinions on 2 issues: pillow-flipping; and foot breathing. Taking the first one: I have to have the cool side of the pillow next to my head in order to drift off to sleep. This means that before drifting off, I will 'flip' my pillow several times - apparently disturbing DH (who in my observation is usually fast asleep but likes to have reason to complain). The heat from my head will warm the pillow therefore making it less likely I will relax, as soon as that happens, I must 'flip' it to the cool side. Foot-breath…

I know that a lot of threads go in cycles and looked back at one about anti-depressants from a few years ago from someone who suffered from bipolar disorder. I suffer from depression/anxiety. Anyone else having weight issues because they're on these types of meds. I've gone off them before when I wanted to take the diet pill Meridia and was put on Wellbutrin which did nothing to help my moods. I lost 20 pounds which was about the norm for that diet drug. My moods were so bad that I'm surprised my DH didn't leave, lol. Anyway I take Cymbalta as an antidepressant and clonazepam as an anti-anxiety med. It seems to me there are a variety of drugs in the same class b…

Hello to all my new friends out there! (have I mentioned that I love this forum?) I thought I would come chill in the lounge and tell a kinda funny story about my lap band seminar on Thursday. I am fine with it, so it is all told lightheartedly.. Well, when you walk into the seminar, which most of you probably know, they take your height and weight, calculate your BMI, get you set up with a packet and show you what to fill out...yada yada yada... Well, out of all the people in the world, my husband's (of almost 9 years) ex girfriend from like '92 or '93 or something, who is blonde, tan and beatiful - took my heigh and weight. She was actually VERY nice and so was …

Hi Everyone, My name is Gloria. I have only had sex with two men. My first husband to whom I was married to for 26 yrs and my new husband to whom I have been married to for 1 1/2 yrs. I was brought up in a very strict Mexican tradition where the woman does not ask for she wants in the bedroom. Well..now that I am of age of course and since I have lost weight, I feel like a part of me wants to be set free in the bedroom. I enjoy having sex with my new husband, and I want to learn to be the initiator. He has asked me "Why is he always the one to start things off". Honestly, I was never taught and I feel embarrassed. I want to surprise him and I need ideas. The one thin…

I finally broke down and went back to Lane Bryant today to buy a pair of zipper jeans as I had gone up in size from my last pairs and refused to buy any hoping I'd lose weight and they'd fit again. Was wearing those pull up spandex jeans that you can buy at Penney's or Walmart. Lane Bryant has totally changed their sizes and styles of jeans since I previously had purchased the smaller ones. Anyway being an apple and always with the big waist and no butt or legs it sucks getting zipper jeans but now I'm a yellow, won't mention the number but it's bigger than a 5 and smaller than a 7 and we're not talking "juniors". Anyway they're more comfortable and always seemed to…

So a little over a week ago the first Sonic in Michigan opened. The lines were anywhere from 2-4 hours long. Seriously? I would not even wait at my favorite sit down restuarant for 2 hours to get fed. Seeing as I have never eaten there, is Sonic really worth a 2 hour wait?

Hi.... I have a question... and since I am the only banded person I know, I need your help with this. Almost one year After I had surgery I began dating a doctor I met at the hospital at the time I had the surgery, we kept in contact and started a relationship, things were OK, and there was no anxiety since he already knew about my surgery, was familiar with the process, and it was great for me. Things didn't work and we are no longer together. But I started dating someone new, we've been going out for a while now, and things look pretty good, I think this will probably be a very serious relationship... and I just don't know how to tell him about the surgery, somet…

I am a POTC fan, and an Indiana Jones fan too. On a whim I caught the Indy movie today and it struck me as interesting that both Indy and Jack have a thing about their hats.....Since Indy came first do you think Jack's obession is a small nod of homage to Indy?

Some of us love pictures (like me) so we post them all over the boards. What if we build on this thread and try to keep all the pictures together? These aren't band-related, just fun pictures we like to share. Anyone wanting to share family & friends is welcome to post them here. Here's pics of me & Chris with Penni & John from their recent Vegas trip.

I have MS Flight Simulator 2004 and was wondering if any lapbanders wanted to fly togther with me over the Internet? If you're not sure how to, just let me know and I'll show you. It's great fun!!:wink2:

Do you laugh when the movies make fun of fat people? I was watching Dodgeball over the weekend, and I LOVE that movie. But, every time I see the fat cheerleader who falls on the skinny guy I close my eyes out of embarassment for her. The movie adds in blubbery sound effects, and I just cringe. I HATE it when movies do that kind of stuff, and I was wondering if I'm alone, or too sensitive?

Does anyone use CAWL (Computer Aided Weight Loss) software? In other words, does your computer help you lose weight in some way? I use Excel to create a spreadsheet about my weightloss. It can be seen at my blog. I'd like to be more creative though. Any ideas?

I stopped getting email notifications when there are new posts to the threads that I always go to. Is anyone else having this problem? I checked to make sure it's turned on and I am supposed to be getting an email notifications.

My back yard looks like a war zone. I have two large concrete slabs in the corner lot - don't know what they were ever used for. They have sawed off metal posts sticking out from the ground every few inches. They're just a couple inches tall but enough to make me say, WTH? (Estimate to dig up concrete was $5,000. 'Fraid that's a bit out of the budget.) Then, the shed I moved out left a brown dirt pile. At first my dogs buried their bones and toys in there, and it was cool. Then the dug out several spots in my yard....Not to mention the urine stays killed my grass in one big circle. Ugg...I'm trying to sell my house, and I'm worried about the back yard. Any id…

I use a variety of Open Source programs - Open Office, Gimp, Audacity, VLC Media Player etc. I find them to be excellent and in some cases better than their commercial rivals. Do you use any?

Was doing a crossword this morning and the Lap Band commercial came on. You know...the one with the lady in her kitchen and the big old wild cat lurking around the corner. Does anyone ever wonder if she is one of us on Lapbandtalk.com. Could she, as well, be lurking just around the corner?:cursing:

My husband had to go to the hospital the other day for the old rotor rooter thing up the you know what. He was laying there waiting for the nurses to come in to get him for the procedure and he asked me if women had to have these done too. I said....no! Only men have to have them....because they have prostrates and women don't. He laid there for a little bit thinking about what I had just said, then he goes....well at least men don't have pap smears. ok....It was hard to keep a straight face....but I'm always teasing him. Five minutes later here come the two nurses to get him. One says to me...when is the last time you have had one? Well...I got this funny look on my fac…

What are your thought on candles these days. My sister had cancer and afterwards went through a time where she got anything out of the house that could be a carcinogen. This happen to include her favorite brand of jar candle that is in most malls. (She loves sugar cookie or was it Christmas cookie) Anyway I don't remember if it had something to do with the scents they were using or what but now says it's better to buy soy candles. I love my candles and buy them as gifts a lot and was wondering if you all have opinions on the matter or knowledge about this. Thanks brandyII.:smile:/:wink2:

First thing this morning, I got a phone call that the deputy who worked at the school I work at for the first 2 years I was here was killed in an on-duty car accident early this morning. They think a deer or something ran out in front of his car, he swerved to miss it, car rolled, and he was killed instantly. He was only 36 and has at least 2 small children. Even though his death wasn't exactly due to the job, it still scares me. My younger brother has been a deputy on the same department for 6 months. Then a little later, DH called to tell me the daughter of a friend of his was in ICU after being brutally raped, beaten and left for dead over the weekend. They have…

Occasionally, I go back and read old threads. I was looking through an old thread today and I saw a post from someone I really miss. It's BlooEyez! I really miss her posts and seeing her progress pics. She was one of my inspirations when I first joined. I sent her an email today but I have no idea if she received it. I worry about people when they leave here. I wonder if something has happened to them and wonder if they are okay. So BlooEyez, if you are out there lurking around, you need to come back and give me some more inspiration! Is there anyone that has left LBT that you miss? Maybe they will see this thread and start posting again. At least to let us…

I have been an MT for the past 14 years and have been in the same job for the past 4 years. However, changes in accounts have left me reeling and I feel a need to prepare myself in case they can't move me to a different account. I just wondered if anyone out there is also an at-home transcriptionist who LOVES their job. If so, I'd love to hear from you either here or PM me. THANKS!!

So it's that time of year again. I love putting out my pots, and while I don't love gardening, I do enjoy the visual rewards. Petunias, wave petunias, begonias, portulaca, snapdragons, mandevilla, vinca, you name it. Between our front yard, side patio, back deck... I usually put out something like 25 pots of flowers, most of them good sized. But the maintenance on them sucks, including basic watering which can take well over an hour for that many pots, so normally they look nice until Julyish and then go downhill fast, even though there's a lot of life (normally) left in the plants. So... I added it up and between flowers, top off soil, fertilizers, stimulators, etc. I …

I have been registered for a seminar for three weeks. I called the weight loss center at Northridge Hospital and was told that the seminar started at six P.M. The woman I talked to took my name and phone number. A friend who usually takes me home on Mondays agreed to drop my best friend and I off at the medical complex where the seminar was being held. Last Friday, I called to find out how long it would last because neither my friend nor I drive and we need to make arrangements to be picked up by public transportation. Everything went great; my friend dropped us off, and we went in to the building. Well, we had a little trouble finding the address, but we got there …

DH and I have spring fever. The new-to-us 70 year old long neglected house and yard will be our 'vacation' for a few years! One of the first discussions on the exterior landscaping was on whether to have a hot tub or a small pool. Arguments: Hot tub is less expensive to operate, and can be used year round and does not need the homeowner to erect a fence around the unit if it has a hard top locking cover. Pool: given where we live, the pool would be used ONLY June - Sept, more expensive to purchase, maintain, and the law requires a 6foot fence to be erected around the structure (pool and any deck). BUT (and there is always a but) the pool offers the potential for exer…

Well, it looks like I finally get to meet my new PCP on Monday. Kind of a long story but the gist of it is that my old PCP transferred departments right after referring me to the nut and psych. Sort of left me hanging. In Kaiser (at least here, I'm finding almost every area of Kaiser is doing something a little different, even within my own region!) my PCP has to refer you to the seminar, then to the nut and psych. Once you are starting the nutrition and weight management classes that the seminar allows you access to, and you've done your appts with the nut and psych, your PCP then sends an "application" on the the surgeon in your area. Once I see this surgeon …

I almost busted a gut (figuratively speaking of course, or not) I was writing the dates I ended each stage on the calender, and I go to FULL solid foods July 4th. I got one hell of a giggle over that date. Talk about irony in it all. I got the serious case of giggles when I saw that date on the calender. I showed my mom and she laughed too. I was talking to a friend online and he said that was the laugh he had been needing all day, (I am major comic relief for him with my stories of kids and my clumsiness). I still can't get over the fact I am on a "normal" diet July 4th according to my post op diet book (yes its a book). Gonna go giggle some more over that, …

I'm feeling isolated here guys. I'm 48 and a stay at home mom and my three (count 'm , three) friends are very busy people. When I'm bored and lonely I want to eat. Not good for the diet. So how do you extroverts do it? Really I'm clueless, so keep it simple.
