So yesterday im out shopping with my 6 year old daughter. We are looking at clothes and I pick up a swimsuit top to look at. This is how the conversation went after that: Daughter "Mom, you dont need that. Its for S" Me "What's S?" Daughter "You know....S. The S word" Me "What S word? You can tell me." Daughter "Its for sex. You dont need that" I was shocked. I informed her it was a swimsuit and not lingerie (sp?). Im just wondering where she got that from. I dont think a 6 year old should know anything about sex. She was right though. I have no need for any lingerie. Sadly... What have your kids said that shocked you?

Just wondering if there are any lapband tennis players? I am 3 weeks post-op and wanting to play. Dr. said take it easy and I am assuming that is because of the stitches for the port. Anybody have any advice? Thanks! banded 3/23 281/?/150

Last night, I was introduced to TOGA.... Last night, I took part in a survey group. After talking to us about our surgical experiences, and the aftermath, they introduced a new surgical option called Toga, which is coming up before the FDA soon. Toga basically is a proceedure that goes down the throat, stapling the stomach from the inside to make a pouch (it looked like in their demonstration video that it would use 5 or more staplings in the 1 hour proceedure). The word is that it is as effective, if not more, than lapband at a comparible price, with NO INCISSIONS, no scars, less pain and no regular fills and maintanence. The only drawback is that it …

Hello all. I have an idea for a new tattoo. It consists of a picture of the stomach with the lapband "installed". Where the esophagus comes into the stomach will actually turn into an arm flexing the bicep. I have attached two links to sample pics to give you an idea. I have zero knowledge on how to use Photoshop or GAIM or any editing software so if you can help, I would appreciate it. http://cimta.in/images/aimages/lapband.jpg http://chuip.com/img/bicep.gif

Ok, not sure who all seen this aired episode, but it cracked me the hell up! OMG! Sorry, I know some people were really hurt by this wacked out dude - however I still found it rather entertaining. Now I'm gonna be nice and use this as an opportunity for all you out there wanting to become a famous Supermodel that, uh, should you see one of his ads on MySpace or where ever that he is full of baloney. --------------------------------------------- Reality bites for modeling hopefuls - Dateline NBC- msnbc.com

I was banded on 17 Feb 09, - no doubt I am hungry as hell right now and I am looking forward to the mushy stuff. My husband has been encouraging me and he brought up the idea of trying different foods later down the road. In particular, everyone use chicken as the primary Protein, but he wants to me try BISON. He took me to this restaruant 2 years ago and he has researched serveral places to order BISON burgers and steaks. www.highplainsbison.com What are your thoughts?- BISON is supposed to be better than beef and lower in fat and higher in protein! Thanks

I keep seeing these infomercials, and ads/websites online about colon cleansing, and the pictures of the gross gross stuff that people, umm... eliminate from themselves while doing it... and if there's a chance that there is that kind of crap inside me, I want it out!!! Have you seen those pictures? Oh man... Anyways, has anyone ever bought a colon cleansing system, or maybe tried that Master Cleanser/lemonade thing? Did it work? Did you feel cleansed? Did you expell huge, massive, clumpy, disgusting things? For all I know, and I've read this as well, that it's all a scam, and it's totally unnecessary, but I just want to know what you guys think, and…

I tell you, I am not looking foward to it, but I found a wonderful website that you can use to get rid of stuff. It is called FreeCycle. I just post all the stuff I do not want on there and someone who needs it, in this tough economic time, comes and get it. Sometimes within the hour. Fast removal. This is a good way to spring clean the clutter at your house, and help someone else at the same time. You can also put what you "want" on there as well. You must "offer" something free first. People need so much and they will pick up food or anything you do not want, even if its not working. There should be a freecycle in your area. Any Spring cleaning tips you wa…

My dad isn't doing very well these days and is dealing with a lot of pain. He is only 54 years old but has beaten his body up over the years. The earliest injury I recall him having was a motorcycle accident when I was 6 years old or so that nearly killed him. They had to put a metal plate in his shoulder but don't know more than that. He later broke his ankle roller skating too. In the past half dozen years he had neck surgery (disk problem) and most recently (2 years ago or so) had a hip replacement surgery which never did ANY good and after another surgeon told him he hadn't need the hip surgery but another major back surgery dad had that too which ended up not helping…

I have an awesome story to share that has an LBT connection. As many of you know, I have been very vocal on the abortion thread. Back in March of this year we were debating about whether women understand fetal development and whether ultrasounds change mothers’ minds about abortion. One of the LBTers began PM'ing me about the issue and we developed a friendship off-LBT. Fast forward a few months, and I received an email from her indicating that fetal facts and ultrasounds do indeed change minds. It turns out the daughter of a co-worker of hers was faced with an unplanned pregnancy (her second; the first one was aborted). She went in for a pregnancy test and the nur…

Hey everyone, This is my first time posting, anywho I am going to be having lapband..HOPEFULLY in april. BUT my dr put me on a 1500 cal diet and I have to go to the gym 4-6 times a week. I am buring off 1000 calories a day. Is this going to help me lose weight? I am not so sure it will! Thanks :bananalama:

I just had my lap band on 10-10-08 and I am totally without an aftercare provider. Can anyone tell me if they experience alot of hiccups and will that cause slippage of my band. If you have any other experiences that you may have had that are common with the first couple weeks after banding I would love to hear everyones feedback!! :smile2:

I thought I'd share my blog entry today (on LBT "The Sweet Spot")... It’s officially Steeler Fever here in Pittsburgh (although it’s a year round fanfest here), but more about that tomorrow. Today I’m going to give yunz a little lesson on Pittsburghese 101. This might come in handy if you’re watching TV on Sunday night (Have you heard yet? There’s a big game!). Who knows, they might interview one of those many Pittsburgh natives and after yunz lesson here you’ll actually know what they’re saying. I’m not poking fun, as I’m officially a Pittsburgher now. Their very friendly and inclusive here…after a mere 8 years living here, I’m now an official Pittsburgher. Yeah, each …

Texas Association of Bariatric Surgeons (A website for weight loss surgery patients and the people who care for them.) - Home Im sure its going to be very very imformative. Ill be there. I think.

Regarless of what your politics are, you've got to admit that today is a pretty spectacular day in US political history. I'm not even american and I was glued to the tube watching Obama's swearing in and his mesmerising speech (man, his speech writers are good!). I was really struck by his focus on taking more personal responsability for our lives in order to get out of this dark cloud we're all in right now. It kind of fits with my my decision to get LB - instead of focussing on why i'm fat and how I got ther and who contributed, I'm doing something about it. It's about working hard to get what you want, instead of relying on something else to fix your situation. A…

Administrators, if this isn't the appropriate "spot" in which to discuss the nature of my subject, I whole-heartedly apologize in advance. And PLEASE let me know if I am in error. I just got a good look at Sarah.R's photos in the latest photo albums section, and for some reason, I personally find these pictures offensive, I suppose, because they remind me of what I used to look like, the "before", and what I was headed towards. I didn't take lightly, the decision to have the lap-band surgery. I was tired of being FAT! I was tired of being stared at and made fun of, if not openly, then "behind the hand". At the age of 45, I had yet to experience any medi…

So I have this problem I have lost 82 lbs since having my surgery a year ago almost to date. My wife has gained half of everything I have lost. With this she has grown distant, doesn't want much of anything to do with me let alone sexually. She has never been much of an affectionate person but still she would have sex at least once a month. It's been like 3 so what should I do she told me it is my problem figure it out went to a psychiatrist and she was telling me the opposite did couples counseling and that was a joke. Anyone else have this problem with there spouse resenting them for losing weight and basically stopped caring anything about them? :tongue2:

Hello all! I was just banded on January 7th. Went to the doc yesterday and I've lost a total of 30lbs since beginning this journey. I'm still on liquids though (start mushies on Monday) so I know that they first couple of weeks are usually the most drastic when it comes to the loss. I fully expect to stay the same or possibly even gain a pound or two when I start incorporating "real" food. Just found out today that my sorority sister is getting married in October and wants me to be in the wedding. I said yes, of course. But now I'm freaking out. 1. The dress is short! I'm a fat girl, I don't show my cankles. 2. I have to order the dress by March!! I'm not …

I watched the premier episode this morning on the style network. It is about a woman who is struggling with weight loss and her journey to get healthy. She is 487lbs and from Georgia. It was a pretty good show. Just wondering if there are any other Ruby fans out there in Lap Band land. Amy

Pulled this (yep plagurism I guess) from foxnews today (Wacky Laws): In West Virginia, anyone who taunts someone who decides not to participate in a duel or who declines to accept a challenge is guilty of a misdemeanor and can be sent to jail for up to six months and fined up to $100. Okay, Okay...you can take the restraining order back. Dammit there goes my stalker for the month! LOL - Wait I live in Georgia (Whew I'm Safe!)

OMG , have you had the tv on in the last 4 days.. we are being bombarded with commercials showing us how we are supposed to look.. "the fast and effective way to lose weight fast" these bastards make billions of dollars every year off of people just like us who for some reason turn to food for comfort. they prey on us like a lion preys on a wilderbeast. i for one am sick of it... and then in a couple weeks the gym memberships commercials and fitness equiptment commercials will go away and will be replaced with restaurants and fast food commercials driving us insane. Thank god i was banded in late june.. my life has almost completely turned around.. i still have lots of…

Here are some things I am feeling soooooo good about- what about you? 1. Not knowing how to react to being hit on (that this is actually a problem for me is a totally brand new thing!) 2. That I bought skinny jeans in a size 16 (I can actually be fashionable now, and look all hipsterish and cute!) 3. That the boots I bought 2 years ago actually zip up on my legs now! 4. That last summer when I went to Torrid, even the size 4's didn't fit. I just bought a shirt in a size 1!!! 5. I feel so damn good! I even bought make-up and thought I would never wear make-up and that it was stupid. I showed me! (ha!) 6. I really want to keep going! I am over the hump and hap…

Three Bean Chili This is a recipe I have from my old WW days. It is really good! 2 TSP Olive Oil 1/4 Diced Onion (I use the frozen or pre-cut from Publix) 1 Can Diced Tomatoes (you can use two) 1 Can Lite Red Kidney Beans 1 Can Chic Peas 1 Can White Beans 1 Pound Ground Turkey (Optional) Garlic (to taste) 1 Packet Hidden Valley Ranch Dressing Mix Brown Onions in Olive Oil and add Ground Turkey until done in a Large Pot. Dump everything else. Do not drain cans. Heat for 30 minutes (or until warm). Eat. I'm not much of a cook, but this is so easy to make and freezes well too. I know it has tons of Protein and is low in calories. I tried to calculate o…

I was just thinking about having to buy holiday gifts and paying to travel all over creation to visit family members. That made me think about being totally broke and what I would do if I suddenly became rich! If money were no object, I would give money to charities, home school my son, get plastic surgery, and travel to fabulous locations like Hawaii, Alaska, and Australia (to start)! Anyone want to play along? Then finish this thought: If money were no object...

We have to go to one of their offices on Guntersville/ Albertville. I have an appointment at 8:00 am on the 21. Now I have to find the office in Guntersville for that one. OK... Let's get down and dirty here. Even in this forum, I noticed people pussy-footing around the issue of weightloss and being fat. So let's hear the real down and dirty stories as to why you are losing weight, what you WON'T miss about being fat, and what will keep you from going back. (note that there are plenty of threads that can talk about "I did it to save my life..." I want to have some fun and hit more honesty.) I will give three things to kick us off. One: I don't like people looking nervous when I get into an elevator. (OK... that was more of a joke to warm things up.) Two: Actually being able to wipe myself - a digusting but true thi…

This is a bit off-topic, but since I am spending a bit of time on this forum I'd see if anyone else here is into one of my hobbies - freshwater aquariums! I have quite a few tanks at home, plus one 10 gallon at the office. In the livingroom: 1x 55 gallon (Larger central/south American cichlids) 2x 20 gallon (Smaller central/south American cichlids) 1x 46 gallon bowfront (Community) (These three will hopefully soon be replaced by one large 120 gallon tank.) In our bedroom: 1x 38 gallon (LOTS of loaches and a few rainbow fish) In the computer room: 1x 1 gallon Betta tank. I figured I'd share a few photos I've taken of some of them! Hope nobody minds?
