So, I was laying in bed the other night trying to drift off to sleep when my formerly obese cat JD jumped up on the bed and then slowly walked up my leg, onto my belly and then stood on my chest, purring like mad while staring at me and purring some more. It was then that I thought two things...1...I was quite thankful that he had lost so much weight, though still a bit jealous (why can't I have hyperthyroidism instead of hypo-?) and 2...wow...this is gonna suck after I have surgery. How on earth am I gonna sleep at night? So, how do you sleep at night? My eventual sleeping position is my stomach. I'm gonna go out on a limb here and suggest that laying on your stoma…

I may have been too ambitious with breakfast this morning; 3 bites of an english muffin sandwich consisting of piled scrambled egg and bacon, about 2 tbsp and 1 piece respectively. I ate 3 bites, probably too quickly, and suffered in mega pain for like an hour afterward, including a sliming where I barely made it to the bathroom at work. Ever since all day I can't put one thing in my mouth without feeling like I just ate the Thanksgiving turkey. So at the end of the day, I'm not going to come near making my protein quota for the day, and just generally feel crummy. Suggestions? Comments?

He Grasped me firmly but gently just above my elbow and guided me into a room, his room. Then he quietly shut the door and we were alone. He approached me soundlessly, from behind, and spoke in a low, reassuring voice close to my ear. "Just relax." Without warning, he reached down and I felt his strong, calloused hands start at my ankles, gently probing, and moving upward along my calves slowly but steadily. My breath caught in my throat. I knew I should be afraid, but somehow I didn't care. His touch was so experienced, so sure. When his hands moved up onto my thighs, I gave a slight shudder, and partly closed my eyes. My pulse was pounding. I felt his k…

I love the folks I work with, they are there for me when I need them, but don't mind being totally un PC and letting me be the butt of a joke. They are all artists, and social workers too... a little bit whacked. I was telling them today that I am almost at my surgery day early next week. One all asked me to explain what I was having done, and I told her about the incisions, and how the laprascope(sp) works, and the machine that cuts/staples and cauterizes the stomach... and how much they are cutting off... when another co worker asked me what they will do with the stomach that they cut off, and everyone gave suggestions... my boss said I should keep it and make art out …

Just having a sad day today. My city made national news today because of a school shooting. Today it was at my former high school. This is the second time in three years that we've made the news because of very public, very violent occurences. My city is (and I know this point is arguable) the best city in the world. It's usually so safe, and I'd feel comfortable pretty much ANYWHERE here walking by myself at night. Today a kid killed one school administrator and seriously injured another before taking his own life. I'm not sure why I'm so upset, it isn't like I was there, nor did I know the suspect or either of the two victims, but it just makes me so sad to hear a…

This Christmas my cousin Sue gave me a booklet used for savings. I must admit my first thought was what a cheap gift LOL. Anyway last night we needed some groceries so my husband Jimmy and I figured we would try this program. We normally spend about $ 70 - $ 80 picking up some basic food necessities before we do our major shopping for the week. So we picked up the same items we always do but to both of our surprises using this program it only cost us $ 16 for the same products, brands and quantities that always cost us in the mid $70s. I called her and thanked her tremendously. I also asked her where she found this so that I can tell other family members and friends. She …

  9. Okay, I feel like mentioning something. We are so good at being politically correct, us sleevers. Maybe it is because we spend so much time defending our decision to people who don't understand, so we get good at downplaying how much being not-fat would change our lives for the better. I'm always seeing people write, "I know being thin won't mean life is perfect" or, "I know just being thin won't bring happiness". Well I am coming out of the closet - Being average or thin is GOING TO BRING ME A LOT OF HAPPINESS!!!! :confused1: And being average or thin IS going to solve a LOT of my problems!! I just posted to a thread about your top 10 reasons to get VSG. I read…

I'm terrified my daughter (she's only 2.5) will have to struggle and know the pain of growing p heavy. Im not restricting any foods, but everything in moderation. I also make sure she has plenty of outside time, running around, climbing, etc.

Hi vsg friends! I have a male friend coming to town for a couple of days. I need some movie recommendations. I hate walking around the movie store and reading boxes wondering if it's a good movie or not. Anyone see anything that is not an action movie or a chick flick , something that would seem good whether you're male or female? it doesn't have to be a new release.

Hi there. Just wanted to see if I could build a new home with some new (and hopefully old) friends. I do not wanna be 'homeless' anymore so here I am! This is gonna be a place for friends to meet (hopefully) and talk about anything & everything. My name is Tracy and I live in Deer Park, Texas. I have been married for 6 years. I was banded in April '07. Got 4 pounds away from goal, quit smoking and gained 46-50 pounds back so I am on my journey again. This time as a non-smoker :w00t: This is a life change and with it comes lifelong friends...wanna come along for the ride? :blushing:

Hey all, I am a formerly banded person who now has a sleeve. I do not regret my first LAP-BAND®® as it helped me to get to a normal wt. I had to give it up and gained a lot of my wt back. I had a subsequent band with little success in loosing wt but had major complications which resulted in an emergency removal and revision to a gastric sleeve. I am very familiar with all types of WLS including RNY as my daughter has had that surgery. I just wanted to introduce myself if someone reads this who is not acquainted with me. 23. I am almost four months post-op and I have never posted a topic in the Success Stories tab. My Mom says I am my harshest critic but I really haven't felt any noticeable successes though I know they are there. I have lost 53 pounds. Never in my life have I lost that much, I think the most I ever lost was 25lbs. The pants I couldn't begin to pour myself into before surgery are now comfortable. The bras that dug into my back and shoulders now fit nicely. I am wearing the same shirts as before surgery but now they hang as they are meant to. In photos my smile is more prominent than my chins, of which I am down to only 1. Yet, I look in the mirror and only see vague ch…

Anyone else have it? I had been thinking about it for a long time. I wanted a natural everyday look that after having 2 kids under the age of 6 I didn't have the time to do each morning. I found a very experienced artist that is very gifted and had my lips and upper and lower eyelids done yesterday. Today I'm swollen but I'm looking forward to seeing the end result. I go back in 4 weeks for a retouch to make sure everything is the way I want it to be and I'm done for 5 years at least. I got a soft pink on my lips so I can always add a darker color to change it up and various eye shadows to change my eyes. I'm so excited at the thought of looking good no matter what eve…

Okay, so I'm feeling out the new vertical sleeve talk and the first thing I noticed is that it is very ...... feminine, in appearance now. Doesn't that leave the fellas out a bit? I'm willing to say that there are probably plenty of guys out there who don't mind the pink and dusty rose color palette, but the art icon next to each forum is of a distinctly feminine form, subtly suggesting that this entire site is really meant only for women. It would be a shame to start making male sleevers feel as though this isn't the place for them, they are already in the minority for support available.

  29. Has anyone figured out how to set a default font/size/color choice on the new site?

Like many of us I have struggled with my weight and fantasized about what I would wear if I wasn't fat. I've tried to maintain a tidy and maybe even slightly fashionable look, even at my highest weight but come on, let's get real! There are some outfits that just don't hang well on a bulky frame. I think everyone's got their thing; that secret sartorial thing that we've longed for and that is symbolic of getting where we always wanted to be etc. For some it's mile high heels, for others the perfect pair of designer jeans. For me the ultimate would be a string bikini, the kind that ties at the sides. Aside from that, I want to wear a clingy sleeveless tank-style ab…

I see how little are portion sizes and issues people have with eating at restaurants or on dates and it hit me - the silver lining to our portion sizes is that now artfully arranged sushi and fancy french cuisine are full meals!:tongue_smilie: A date at a sushi restaurant where two pieces of sashimi are slowly consumed wouldn't raise anyone's curiosity and that overpriced french dish with one sprig of something balanced on one morsel of something is suddenly just right! =) I guess I'm a dork but the image of this just struck me as funny.:001_rolleyes:
