I had my surgery in 2008. I did really well in the beginning and for the first year(I had lost almost 80 lbs). Then, a year after I had my surgery I found out I was pregnant. I tried very hard to eat right for my daughter but I hate lots of fruits(which apparently is bad!) so now my weight is creeping back up again and I'm not like it. What's something that can motivate a person?!?! And any good recipes?

I had lab band surgery on July 13, 2006. Started at 203 lbs and maintained 125 - 130 lbs every since; however, in the last 6 monthis I have come down to 110 lbs without even trying. Just don't feel like eating. The doctors want me to gain weight. I know this is a different question. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to gain weight? I had my band loosened and started working out at the gym in hopes to gain muscle.

This is not related to VSG, but I did register my first born for Kindergarten today, she'll start in the Fall. Reminds me of one reason I'm on this journey, to be the best mom I can be. :*)

Well I had one set of smaller size clothing set back having gotten rid of all my previous sizes. Pre-op I was in a 52 pants and they were just about cutting me in two they were so freakin' tight. I had a few pairs of 46s and wore them till they were almost comically baggy. I finally went shopping for new britches a week ago Saturday. I tried on a 42 and they fit about right, a little loose but not too loose around the waist, I then tried on a 40 and they were kind of snug. So I ended up buying 2 pair, the 42 and the 40. I ordered a pair of jeans (I like a certain brand - Deluth Trading) in 40s thinking it would be OK to wait a week or two till they were comfortable.…

I am wanting a new look. My hair grows slow and I am wondering if extensions would work? I am 5 months post op and my hair is falling out, but not noticable. I want the extensions to get a new sexy length, not because of thinning. Has anyone else tried it? Also what type do you think would work best? I don't want to do anything to damage my hair. My husband wants me to cut my hair, but he's gone for 3wks right now. I think it would be fun to surprise him with a new look when he gets home, and show him that I can rock long hair! Any thoughts or suggestions?

Suffering from panic disorder, and dealing with the outcome of being banded scares me.im so scared that down the road,if i have complications.vomiting, etc.Its on my mind all the time.Does anyone else have panic disorder. The only way i was able to go through with the surgery, was xanax. If it was not for that, there was no way,i would have walked into the hospital for the procedure.

I watched a re-run the other day of "True Life" on MTV about people who are happy being fat. It got me thinking: how can anyone be content with being overweight or obese. From my personal experience I'm always in pain, can't find nice clothes without breaking the bank, and it's hard doing things that I like to do. Maybe it's just me, but I hardly believe anyone who says they have no problem with being fat.

just got done watching a show called 500 pound mom on TLC.... this lady is 606 lbs, and needs to lose 106 lbs to get WLS... what irked the hell out of me, is that they kept saying that she needed to loose 106 lbs to get "quick fix surgery" ....last i checked it wasnt a quick fix. ergg.. .just makes more people think we are all taking the easy way out >.<

I thought you all might want to know that if you misspell your thread title all you have to do is click "use full edit" after clicking "Edit" and it actually will let you correct it. I keep noticing constiaption....etc. and know that the OP probably would like to change that! You click edit and then click the use fell edit AFTER that. Voila- the thread title lines appear for editing also. This may be helpful and maybe could be stickied somewhere!

Okay, I finally decided to upgrade, cuz I want to connect to the internet, have a phone, a great camera, MP3 player, TOMM, and applications that help me track my diet progress and nutrition, all in a handy PDA. Any suggestion/advice out there?

Hello Everyone, I was banded in 2009 and I have lost over 100lbs. Saying that I need a tummy tuck and breast lift/breast augmentation. I am looking for a good doctor in the Houston area and would love to hear from others about their experiences with healing time, insurance companies and just a good doc to go to. If I have to pay out of pocket I would lie to find a pretty reasonable priced doc. I know I cannot put a price tag on quality but I don’t want to break the bank either. Thanks in Advance for all your help.

Ever since I came back from R&R I have been slipping. My room is an utter pigstye, I've only been to the gym once this week, my eating has become more and more disordered, I'm not styling my hair in the mornings, I have no energy. I can't blame my cycle, as this has been going on for at least 2 weeks and I'm still 2 weeks out from it. I return to the States from my tour in 5 more weeks, there is a lot of anxiety wrapped up in that - finding employment, keeping employment, finding a place to live, still being fat. I've been in a stall for 2 weeks. I average about 850 cals a day, 80g's Protein. My carbs have risen, used to be below 25, now are regularly above 35. …

The TV show on Oprah's OWN channel, "ADDICTED TO FOOD" is the show to watch about tackling our demons with food. It looks like the rehab follows a 12 step program and there are overeaters, compulsive, & bulemics. I watched the second episode today and alot hit home with me.

Hi all, In addition to working on myself and achieving my weight loss goals, I am also a doctoral student working towards my PhD in Clinical Psychology. I need some help with getting participants for my dissertation and was wondering if any of the wonderful people on here could help me out. I need first year college students to take a brief, 10-minute survey about their college experience so far. If you know anyone who is a first year college students I would greatly appreciate it if you could pass along the information! The topic was weight loss surgery, but of course they only talked about lap-band. OMG. Seriously, I was so apalled at what I was hearing that I was driven to write them a letter, which is something I would never do. They had the smug lap-band surgeon laughingly say there was only 1% chance of any type of complication and that the surgery only takes 15 minutes. He was such a douche! They had a couple of success stories on there and everyone was so bowled over by how awesome everything is. There was one lady on there that was talking about complications, but they didn't really give her much time. Here is a copy of what I wrote - I wanted to share it with you all: **…

Hey everyone! I loved this site as I have been preparing for my surgery... But due to the recent ads, I am going to have to stop coming regularly.. The ads are too much!!! It's taking so long to load these pages that it isn't worth it anymore. And I can't find a way to nix the ads... I will return periodically as needs arise, but not often... I wish you all success on your journeys!!

I'm 16, and have always had a desire to be in the military. It has always just felt like the right path for me. However, when I went to speak to my recruiting office, they told me that they didn't think that LapBanders could join any branch of the military. I asked them if they were sure, and they said not really, but wouldn't even look it up. I was just wondering if anyone had any more info on the subject. I'm looking more towards Navy, Army, and Nat Guard. I'm not exactly cut out for the Marines or anything lol.

Hello from sunny San Diego! When last you heard from me I was a ball of anxiety, preparing to leave Iraq. That was three weeks ago. Since then I did indeed leave Iraq, proceed through the aggravating Army redeployment process, cross the country (seeing friends and family along the way), and finally drove from Colorado to California, where I am now. Now I am with a dear friend helping her out with her newborn. My eating has been disordered of course, and unconscious anxieties about returning home etc. have manifested themselves in carb & chocolate indulgences that may or may not have turned into 3 lbs. Travelling (tmi alert) always makes me super constipated t…

While at the gym this morning, I stepped on the scale and noticed a post-it note eye level stuck on the wall. It read: Scale Disclaimer The scale does not tell you how great you are. The scale does not tell you how much people love you. The scale does not tell you how much people appreciate you for everything you do. Thank you kind stranger for putting a smile on my face! Just thought I'd pass it along.

My doc found a HUGE fobroid last week when I had my annual exam and I have to have a hysteroscopy done on Friday. Has anyone ever had this done? What can I expect? I have been doing some reading online this morning and have freaked myself out. Here's some info I found: What is hysteroscopy? Hysteroscopy provides a way for your physician to look inside your uterus. A hysteroscope is a thin, telescope-like instrument that is inserted into the uterus through the vagina and cervix. This tool often helps a physician diagnose or treat a uterine problem. Hysteroscopy is minor surgery which is performed either in your physician's office or in a hospital setting. It can be per…

Hey guys, Just wondering if anyone knew about reflexology (pressure points located on feet that correspond with organs in our body). I'd like to get this massage done for stress and other ailments I have such as sinusitis, but there's a point on the foot that is for the stomach, and since I have a lap band I'm curious to know about going through with it or now. Will consult with surgeon and reflexologist beforehand of course, but one of you may know! Thanks in advanced, Jackie

Just curious as to what and how you started excersising after surgery? I'm about 7 weeks out and have gotten my energy back, and now I want to be mobile. I just don't know where to start. I have 3 small kiddos and live on a semi-busy street and don't own a treadmill. I don't really have the $90 a month for a gym membership.... I haven't really worked out in 3 or 4 years, so I am waaaaay out of shape. I would love to try the P90X system at some point, I just don't think I could keep up with it at this time. Any and all suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Hi all, I was wondering if anyone here was working as a stay at home medical coder? I'm currently a SAHM but we really need extra income. I've found a reasonable program that is online only and has a duration of about 8 weeks and then you are certified and can work at home or at a facility. I was wondering if anyone could provide me with any additional information on this career path at all. Thanks!

I just had to laugh when I saw this as a link when looking at a VSG video at Youtube : http://www.youtube.com/user/RocaLabs?v=c_g3MUgzTFk&feature=pyv&ad=6303502684&kw=gastric%20sleeve&gclid=COaDoZDk_aYCFcG77QodXhV9bA I remember sometime in the last week there was a brief ad her at VSG talk, I immediately though WTF! The ad was soon gone. Some people will fall for anything. What's next, brain surgery in a can?

I'm not sure what is going on here but, I have in recent weeks, been awakened in the middle of the night by sharp pains in my hip bone socket region. At first I thought it was a fat roll getting pinched in the wrong position, anyone who has been super fat knows what I mean. But that wasn't it, I think that it is actually the pressure of the hip bone, making itself known, pressing into the bed!! I reach down to feel with my hand, there's nothing in there, just my hip and the bed, and the bed is topped with a 4 inch thick piece of foam! My knees and ankles are still well padded, unfortunately, but apparently my hips when lying on my stomach, aren't!

I was just wondering if there have been any people who have failed miserably with the sleeve? I mean the whole thing . . . very little weight loss, regaining weight, anything? No leaks or other complications, just that the surgery didn't work at all for them? I realize those people may not be on this forum but I was wondering nevertheless. . . thanks!

Wow I just have to share this with y'all. . . I am sitting on my couch this morning (7:30 AM) watching this TV show called Extreme Pigouts. . . if any of you need a reminder of what we used to do to ourselves, watch this show. . . i started watching it and literally got ill at ease at the amount of food people actually consume. 10 oz of hamburger x 3 patties on a bun, plus fries, coleslaw, cheese stiks, etc . . . to give you a picture of how it affected me, I literally got diarrhea about 30 minutes into the show ( I hadn't had anything to eat yet this morning except for coffee) and now I don't know if i'm interested in having anything either. . . It was so gross i coul…

As many of you might have realised I'm struggling with the low carb high carb thing. Juliarh posted days somewhere, I've been watching them (there are 10" lectures), a good understanding of how carbohydrates (especially refined sugars) make us fat. Worth checking it out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NEH0OZVHmvQ&feature=related

Hi everyone! This may seem like a weird question but I really wanna know....Have anyone here had problems with hooded eyelids while they were over weight? If so, did the "hood" even out after becoming slimmer? I ask because when I was younger/slimmer, I was able to apply eye make-up with no problems but once I became overweight, I developed this loose skin drooping over my eyelid which obviously interferes with the make-up application. I hope I don't come off as vain...It makes me kinda sad to have this...I hope that it goes away!!! Anyway, if you have the same problem, had sucess with the problem or have a solution for me please let me know. Thanks!! Angel

I am going to be in Miami for about 4-5 days altogether, 2 days in the Everglades, one day on Marathon Isle and the rest on Key West. What things should I definitely do?
