I had surgery on September 10,2012 Started my journey at 305 Surgery weight 295 Current weight 261 I am so glad to feel just like normal. But less of me. I am down 43 inches and loving it. I can tell I'm really weak in my legs and have started to do some extra exercise to help build some muscle. I just took family pics with my kids and I see the loss but I still hate my picture. Hopefully by Christmas I will be down another 20 lbs and will be able to see more of a change. How is the everyone else doing with September anniversaries ?

Hi! Tomorrow is my pre-op appointment and my surgery date is scheduled for Jan 10! I'm excited but nervous that I will be surprised by the discomfort or difficulty in eating. The thought of eating puréed foods grosses me out. I'd rather just have protein shakes. My question is, is there any advice you wish you would have prepared for mentally or physically to adjust to the surgery better??

I just saw this idea in a post on FB, and thought it was a great idea for 2013. For me, I'm going to call it a Gratitude Jar -- and I think it'll be amazing to start putting thoughts in it now...and then look at everything a year from now once I'm hopefully sleeved and down a whole lot of pounds! Just wanted to share Starting January 1st, write down good things that happen to you on little bits of paper and put them in a jar. Things such as: - surprise gifts - accomplished goals - the beauty of nature - "LOL" moments - memories worth saving - daily blessings that come your way Then...on December 31st, open the jar and read all the amazing things that happen…

At some point on one of these threads, I read something about receiving a DVD of surgery done in Mexico. And apparently that made BIG impression on me as I am having surgery in Mexico too. In the dream, I am at home recovering from my VSG when my husband suggests watching the DVD of my procedure. His logic was that we paid for it, let's watch it. OK, I'm game. The DVD starts in the operating room and everything is ready for the surgery to begin. As it starts, I am HORRIFIED to see everyone in the operating room is NAKED! All the surgical staff were nude. Of course they had on rubber gloves, surgical masks, and caps. Why wouldn't they, it's an operating room,…

  17. Everyone has heard about it, the infamous Mayan calendar that "runs out" on our date of 12/21/2012 and all the doomsday predictions that go along with it. And we all know it's all just nonsense. The "date" of course coincides with the Southern Solstice and has nothing whatsoever to do with numbers in the date 12/21/2012. Our modern calendar is basically just an arbitrary number with arbitrary names of months and days, it has no link whatsoever with any type of celestial events. It's not even accurate as far as enumerating the years since Christ's birth. For us northern hemisphere dwellers it will be the first day of winter, for those in the southern hemisphere the f…

I had my surgery on Nov. 27th 2012. I was in the hospital for one day. I was in a lot of pain after surgery which the doctor and nurses said was completely normal. After I came home I was on pain meds for about a week. Its been 16 days since my surgery and I've lost 9 pounds. The weight loss has suddenly stopped so I'm kind of bummed about that. Anyone else have this issue or is it just me?? I'm doing full liquids still. Appreciate all the input anyone can give!!

So I have had a CPAP machine going on about 3 years and actually enjoy sleeping with it until recently. I got a new hose and it is stiff and still has bends in it. I tried soaking in warm Water and let it hang and stretch from a door and still it is no better. I wish I really hadn't thrown the original away as it was very light and flexible. Anyone know where I can get a good flexible, light tube. I did some searching and found some that claimed to be just that however when you read the reviews users say the opposite. thanks

  24. So we visited our favorite Italian restaurant, the portions are huge and we either split an entree or each eat 1/3 to 1/2 an entree and take the rest home. This time we decided to split one as we were going somewhere else afterwards and didn't want to leave the left overs in the car for a few hours. When the bill arrived there was a $3.50 "split fee" on the bill. They didn't even split the meal, the brought it on a single plate and didn't even bring an extra plate for me, I ended up eating off a bread plate. We ordered a $13 entree, one beverage (the wife drinks water) and a dessert, the bill came to $23, which I think is about right for a mediocre family restaurant…

Yesterday was my first day to eat out in a restaurant with friends after I got sleeved, for the first time in my life I finally feel NORMAL, I ate equal or maybe even less than what skinny people at the table ate, for the first time I don't eat out and feel guilty afterwards about how much I ate, or what I ate, and moreover I lost half a kilo the day after. I ate half a slice of brown buttered bread and then ordered a small soup and half way through the soup I couldn't finish, I had already ordered a main course plate which I had all of it wrapped to take it home. The thing is, I eat around 600 to 900 calories a day, and I don't feel week or faint or anything, I go to …

Last year I actively considered a LapBand but ended up rejecting it for a variety of reasons. Recently, I heard about a new procedure that may be the answer to my prayers, POSE. It's more common in Europe - I think there's only one clinic doing it in the US (in Louisiana). I'd appreciate knowing if anyone here knows about it and can give anecdotes/advise/etc. Here are some links: http://abcnews.go.co...ough-the-mouth/ http://www.poseinfo.com/ http://www.southampt...dolumenal-pose/

Since no one has posted in this thread before me, I'll choose someone at random. I choose Ms skinnyness: She is just a gem. I was being good, having a small bowl of tomato Soup and I'm home by myself so I'm hanging out in my underwear. And I brought my soup into the living room and sat down on the couch to eat it and spilled it all over my bare right thigh. Burned a spot about 5 inches in diameter on my inner thigh right above my knee. I ran to the bathroom and ran cold Water on it and then went to the refrigerator and got an ice cube tray and put it on my inner thigh. Then I took some of the pain medicine that I'd stopped taking a few days ago. Hoping the pain stops soon. Way worse than the pain from the surgery was.

Maybe by the end of this thread we all can have a general overview of what a cheat really is. The thing for me is that I dont have a cheat list per say. All I have is a banned list. Lets hear everyones version.

  41. "Bloomberg calls it “the single biggest step any city, I think, has ever taken to curb obesity.” But this step was not necessarily one in the right direction. Yes, Bloomberg's move sends a message to the New York and American public that obesity is a big problem and that we want to stop it; however, he has undermined that very message by suggesting the only way to fight obesity is through government micromanagement of people's eating habits." First time that I have read this blog but some may find his comments thought provoking - I did. Full Article

New York became the first city in the US to ban the sale of large sodas and sugary beverages in restaurants, a move that Mayor Michael Bloomberg said will help combat the "obesity epidemic" that kills 6,000 New Yorkers every year and is destroying the health of Americans. A step in the right direction or an infringement by government on personal rights to make individual choices? Full article

I had just barely awoken to grab some coffee and watch a little news as always. That day would never see the same in me again. I am to be sleeved on march 15 th. My Dr (Dr. Nick) requires the pre op diet 2 weeks prior. I want to try to do it 4 weeks prior just to help with discipline. My biggest concern is the post op diet. I have been reading others talk about how hard it is on the liquid diet. Most of you guys talk about the clear broths or soup but you also mention things like jello, yogurt, pudding and even shakes. Dr. Nick says the clear liquid diet is for the first 21 days, but the difference is he said if it does not flow through a strainer it's not allowed. This will mean that jello, yogurt, pudding and shakes are not allowed. I wont even be able to have creamed soup. How will I live on j…
