K so I have been with my hubs for 13 years.. He's an awesome man who treats me like a queen. My mom is a meddler... She calls all day, texts, blows up every line I have, just to ask me a silly question. She has moved in twice and it's always ended disastrously.. She meddles in our home loans, how we raise our kids and has moved back and forth from California to Oregon more times than I can count which irritates me cause our kids get bummed and she does not seen to care. She recently moved 6 houses down from us and has been just showing up whenever she feels like it. I have asked her to call first but she keeps doing it. She even saw my son walking to school one morning a…

A friend just shared these words, by Neil Gaiman, and you might find them encouraging or inspiring... words to live by :-) I hope that in this year to come, you make mistakes. Because if you are making mistakes, then you are making new things, trying new things, learning, living, pushing yourself, changing yourself, changing your world. You're doing things you've never done before and, more importantly, you're Doing Something. So that's my wish for you and all of us and my wish for myself. Make New Mistakes. Make glorious, amazing mistakes. Make mistakes no one's ever made before. Don't freeze, don't stop, don't worry that it's not good enough or isn't perfect, wh…

  4. I work in HR. My primary function is benefits, but I spend a lot of doing on employee relations and general HR activity. By virtue of my job, I talk to employees a lot. I conduct new hire orientation every Monday. I've always been an introvert, but really enjoy the social aspect of my job, because it's on a small scale and is limited. I have a lot of fun with it. But recently, I've noticed that people respond to me much differently. More positively. The same jokes I tell every week are a lot funnier now and get a lot more laughs and smiles. My boss never used to give me the time of day. I knew she hated me. Since dropping 90 lbs, I'm her right hand. She raves about …

This is the first New Years I can remember where I don't feel like I failed myself the year before. It's so nice starting a fresh year feeling good about what I've accomplished and where I am. In 2014 I get to continue tweaking what is working for me and make it all even better. To those of you beginning your journey, know that sometimes it will suck and be a royal pain in the butt, but in the end will be worth it 10000x's over. To those of you further out, keep rocking it! It's never too late to take control four lives, even with a bad day, or week, we can always get up tomorrow and start fresh.

I just had a funny story to share with the group... I'm 3 weeks post op and wanted to attend a support group. It was my first meeting. Well the meeting was at a church about 20 mins away that I've never been to. The Facebook page only listed the church and not the specific room. So when I walked in one door it happened to be across from the pastors office. He looked on the list and didn't see it. Tried to call the lady that normally hosts the meeting etc. While waiting he offered me some chocolate. I politely smiled and said no thank you. It took him a few seconds to connect the dots that I was there for the bariatric group (which I told him in the first place)…

Today: 100s and 1000s (dare I say millions) are traveling to the legal pot Mecca of the USA : Colorado. They are arriving by plane, by train or even by camper to participate in what fondly has been named "Green Day." http://denver.cbslocal.com/2013/12/31/colorado-readies-for-green-wednesday-pot-sales/ Legally a person can buy up to 1 oz of pot, smoke it publicly and face zero consequences from it. Sounds like a big party to me. Or a train wreck. It could go either way. The questions (ignoring any moral implications of post use for the moment - I am opposed to use): How did such a law get passed in the first place? Must be some really good lobbying. Why would th…

I'M having a tough time this morning and just need to vent. I had a full tummy tuck December 2, one day after my mom died. I still think it was the right decision to go ahead with the surgery, I was at the family only burial 3 days later and we are having her memorial service in the spring. Re her death, it was a good one. The last year, last months, last week, and last days were not how you would wish anyone to have to live. My sister and I were with her almost 100% of the last two weeks. I left for home Saturday night in order to get prepared for surgery that Monday. I got home at 130am and got the call to come back at 230, so my husband and I drove back 3+ hours each w…

...is there anyone you're eager to see envying all the progress you make post-op? I know, I know, it's petty and one of the Seven Deadly Sins, but I have to admit there are a few people who I'll enjoy watching, as they turn a lovely shade of green when I reach my goal. I skipped my 25th high school reunion this year, because I wasn't happy with the way I looked; and I didn't want to put on a brave face in front of the catty girls from my teen years--but when the 30th rolls around, it's going to be a different story. I'll be there, with bells on, baby! I'm also in the midst of a divorce after 20+ years; by Christmas, not only will I be shedding my own ugly fat, but I'l…

Hi, I am wondering if anyone else suffers from TMJ. I have a mouth guard which I wear at night and wake up the next morning usually without any pain. By the end of my work day my jaw is killing me, ear pain and I have a major headache. I take 2 hydrocodone for the pain and it doesn't even touch it. The pain at times is so bad it hurts to chew. I am going to see an oral surgeon in early January. Does anyone have any suggestions, or if you suffer from it, what has helped you? Thanks in advance.

Life has just been getting better and better, my first Christmas as a normal sized person is shaping up to be great. I still have my worries and struggles - when is enough when it comes to weight loss? Should I have a boob job? Am I eating too much? Then my friend called me last night. Exactly a year ago, he started chemo for leukaemia but despite that, his doctors told him in March that his condition is terminal. Recently, he was told that it looked as if he was going into remission and they have moved back from his "sentence" of having only 18 months left to live to leaving it open ended for now. Things were looking great for him and we are due to have a big night out…

Just for funsies 1. "Now! How about now? Are you ready to go Now???" Especially if she was waiting on you to take over the kids before she started getting ready herself, cooking dinner or ANYTHING else for someone other then herself before hand. 2. (after weight loss) "You looks SO amazing now!" (one if these words does not belong) 3. (post surgery for her) "OMG what happened to you boobs?" or "OMG, look at that lady's boobs, are those REAL?!" 4. (post surgery for him) "This lady keeps flirting with me at work, but I keep telling her she's not my type!" Just a little note for the guys. Ladies feel free to add to the list. :-D

I have a good career now. I'm a manager in IT and enjoy my work for the most part, and am well-compensated. But since surgery and learning so much about how my body works, I keep thinking about the idea of a career in the medical field. The most attractive career to me at the moment is in medical imaging, maybe as a sonographer. Where I live, this would be a 4-6 year full-time course of study (not like in the US where I believe it is a 2-year degree) and the top pay would be close to what I make now (I'm mid-range for my career now). A huge commitment both financially and time-wise. What is attractive about it? A few things. I find the technology and the interpr…

I would like to invite you to all check it out, if you're interested, and give us input! Like I said, we're doing this from a sleever's perspective and would love input from EVERYONE so we can make this beneficial for all! Thanks! ht…

So this weekend my daughter had a huge sleepover. I haven't seen the mother of her bff in a couple of months because both girls switched schools. Anyway, this woman is pretty amazing. She has four kids -all under the age of ten, regularly runs 8 or 9 miles a day, and even does P90X. She is proabably about 5'10 or 5'11" and she looks great. Anyway, what does she say when she first sees me? "Oh my God, Look at you! You're almost skinnier than me I have to start running more!" We walked the girls to the park and all the way there she just kept saying "I have to start running more or you're going to be smaller than me!" I just looked at her and said "Don't worry. I …

I was banded on Feb. 29, 2012. Up until September 2013, I lost 123 pounds, and had 77 pounds left to lose. Everything was great, and then I hit a plateau. On top of that, in the last 10 months, I have lost my grandmother, one dog in February, and another dog just this Sunday. I exercise pretty intensely six days a week, but I'm an emotional eater. I've gained about 16 pounds, and I'm starting to panic. I can't go back to where I was. Anyone have any experience with a situation like this?
