Hey guys, wasn't sure where to actually post this question... but as most of you know I'm working to start my band/weightloss journey and was wanting to do an online journal/blog to share as a link on here as well as for my family/friends if they are at all curious. However, being relatively unfamiliar to blogging/online journaling I am in need of a recommended website. Anyone have one that they can suggest? Thanks all! Angela

So, after a seven month dry spell, I decided its time for me to date. I'm 40 pounds skinnier, feelin' good, why not try!? Right? I met a guy, we dated for about 5-6 weeks, and started having sex around week 4. Guess what, he broke up with me because he said we were not sexually compatable. He would not give details, but I can tell you that I did a hell of a lot more FOR HIM in bed than he did for me, if you catch my drift...? Anyway, I've come to the conclusion that its because I am a 200 pound woman. He told me that he is use to size 2, 3, 4 women. I am not that. Ya know, after losing 40 pounds, going through surgery to lose weight and then putting myself …

Just wanted to say hello, I have been gone for a while not checking the board or sticking to one diet. just keeping in check with calories and walking. Hope life is treating every one well.

I'm watching this show and it's unbelievable what these people are doing to themselves. I guess it's just featuring the cheaters (I hope there are some people there who really want help) I'm wondering who is paying for all these people to lay around in this nice looking hospital and get waited on and then have fast food and junk food delivered. I realize they have food addictions but I can't understand why they are there for help if they are going to rebel all the time. Is anyone else watching?

Wow, I attended a Rotary lunch today and Thomas Monagham was our guest speaker. He is the former founder and owner of Domino's Pizza and former owner of the Detroit Tigers. He also founded and is the Chancellor of Ave Maria University, the newest Catholic University near Immokalee, Florida close to my home. What an inspiration. You have to google him and ready his story, he is amazing. I am so inspired, he came from nothing and has accomplished so much. Maybe someday my kids can attend that university. Just wanted to share.

My husband is on his LASIK kick again (he has wanted it for a long time, but the degree to which he pursues it comes and goes). He has a consultation tomorrow at LasikPlus. Wondering if anyone out there has used them...? I think the number of procedures places like this can do is great, builds famiilarity with the equipment, etc. -- but I'm hesitant to put trust into any medical-related (chain) company that puts its product "on sale." I mean - it's my husband's vision, not a sweater.

I recently interviewed for a director position. Yesterday their recruiter called and in a few more words told me the job is mine if I want it. They want me to fly out to meet with the business next week. Between when I interviewed, and now, I've decided I don't want the job. It would be a great job that I might be interested in later, but it's not a good match for my life right now. So I would like to part on somewhat good terms. However, since I know I don't want the job now, I don't feel it would be right to take any more of their time (or mine) by interviewing, and definitely not take their resources for the trip. So I'm looking for help with messaging - the j…

I think I killed my shuffle on Wednesday night. I went out for my run, and it started bucketing down, I was saturated, and so was my shuffle. I tuned it off straight away, but it still got soaked. I got home, dried it off, and left it to dry out. Now the dammed thing won't stay charged. So I am thinking it is a really good excuse to by a Nano. Does anyone have one? Any issues with them? Or are they just the best things in the whole wide world? TIA.

I'm a mom of young girls and I find myself slowly coming out of that "It's all about my children and I can go rot" mindset so many new moms get. I've been looking at my life and trying to find the things I do for ME! I thought everyone, moms, dads, men, women can and should do things specifically for themselves...Especially as we go through this journey of weight loss and begin to take care of ourselves. So...what do I do for me on a regular basis 1. Get my eyebrows professionally done 1x every 2 months 2. Pedicures...1xevery 2 months 3. Get my house cleaned 1xpermonth 4. read a book at least 3 per month 5. screw the housework and play with my kids 6. b…

I been reading a lot of threads and BMI is the big determining factor in a lot of peoples idea weight. Is there anything elso out there that we should take into concideration when picking a number. I feel as though I am picking a number and hoping I look good when I get there. I see that there are a big number of people that pick 150 as their target. I think that is a wonderful goal. I was that at 14, can I expect to get below that at 30? I want to go less then 150 but my adult weight has never been less then 190 and I am getting close to that... Any wisdom?

It occurred to me last night that I post alot in Rants and Raves, and I think maybe sometimes I come off as really serious and uptight and too politically correct. Then I got to thinking, boy, I bet the people on the board would be surprised to know this fact or that fact about me. So, I thought it would be fun to post something about ourselves that people here on the board would be surprised to know. It can be one thing or more than one thing. I'll start: I love celebrity gossip and am addicted to tabloids and gossip Websites. I love pop culture and love learning about fads in history as well as current. I will admit that I mostly go to art movies, but I equall…

What I love about hunting: I love bow hunting. I love sitting in my ground blind in the quiet of a Nebraska morning. Watching the wildlife go about in complete oblivion to the fact that I am there. I have had raccoons and squirrels climb on my ground blind and not notice me while I sat there and enjoyed their company in silence. I have had turkey go to roost in the trees above my head (yes, wild turkeys can fly) I have also lost a shot because I was too enthralled watching the deer walking across the field or path right in front of me not bothering to draw my bow. I will also let a shot go if it is a button buck or a doe with a small one with it. I also will not …

I know you know quite a bit about computer crap. I've been looking into buying a new lap-top computer eventually. I'm very attracted to the Alienware computers, despite their price, but I don't know whether I should go with one of those or a more main-stream brand like Dell or HP. Right now, I'm using a Sony Vaio, and I like it, but I don't know if I want to stay with that brand, either. Any advice about which is better?

I finally decided that there is no reason for me to "celebrate" Thanksgiving anymore. It is an eating frenzy, and I come from a large family of girls and everybody is a great cook. So last year DH and I stayed home and enjoyed a quiet day, and that is our new tradition. What do you do for Thanksgiving?
-
Does anyone else feel like their loved ones are trying to sabotage your weight loss? I want to believe that my DH doesn’t do it on purpose, but there are times that I wonder. Like when I buy fresh fish and instead of baking/grilling it, he fries it. Or when he brings home KFC (and he doesn’t really like KFC) for supper. He doesn’t do it often, he does encourage me and tells me I am doing great and I know that he loves me, but there are time that I wonder if he doesn’t want me to succeed.

Hi, my name is Pam, but around my house I am known as the PLATEAU QUEEN. ARGH!!!:angry My body just like to arbitrarily STICK at a number and not budge for weeks. I've walked myself into "shin-splints" several times -- it seems the only thing that will jump start me to losing again is to have a 'blow-out' weekend, where I eat whatever I want. This is reminding me -- painfully so! -- of when I would do Weight Watchers. If I ate at the low end or BELOW my points rage, I would either sit still or have a minimal loss -- like .04# or something. But if I ate on the high end or ABOVE, I'd lose 1.5 to 2.0 a week! I'm beginning to suspect I'm not eating enough! I'm S…

Hello all-I was banded Aug.8,2007. I have lost 38.2 from surgery day. I was seeing one doc. & he had me taking 2 protein shakes a day & 2oz meals 3 x a day & no snacks. Now since he won't give me fills when I think I need them I am switching doc's & the new doc. said no protein. He says no protein shakes & 1 cup meals 3 x a day plus snacks.(That you should be able to get enough protein in your meals & that no shakes because they are liquid) I just had my 2nd fill this past Mon. & still feel no restriction.(therefore I've been eating full meals & hope I haven't gained) I just want to know what your docs have said about protein. Thanks!!

Hello! I decided to start this thread because I lost my mom 2 years ago and it's still a struggle for me. I'm still grieving and at times I'm having a hard time sticking to the bandster rules because of it. With the holiday's coming up I can already tell I'm struggling. Are there any other bandsters out there who've lost a loved one recently or a long time ago that is having a hard time or not looking forward to the holidays because you're just missing that person? Maybe we can be supportive to each other! It's hard to find someone who's grieving and banded. Lets lean on each other!

Since my first attempt at posting didn't go over very well, I decided to lighten up a bit and ask this. If you could comfortably live in any state in the USA, which would you choose and why? I live in Washington State, and I love it. However, I would like to try living in a state that has 4 distinct seasons. My climate is fairly mild year round. I would love to see what it is like to be in a few feet of snow, or extremely hot weather, or have a fall where the leaves actually change colors. I am thinking New Hampshire or Connecticut?

I have to admit - I'm addicted to weighing myself now! This morning I weighed before my shower and was down to 265, and because I was so excited I'd lost a couple more pounds I weighed right after to see the number again, but I was back up to 267! What gives? Also, do you tell your SO/Spouse how much you weigh? I didn't want to tell my BF, but he came with me to my first post-op appt. I made him wait out in the hall while I was weighed. Then, we were sitting in the room, waiting for the doc and I said, "Fine. I'll tell you." So, I spilled it..My highest, my pre-surgery, my at surgery, and my current. Not five minutes later, the doctor came in and said, 'Good new…

Vinesqueen was a good friend of mine on here until I took a depressed leave of absence for a year. Does anyone have an update of her? I don't know what happened - her last blog entry on platypus was last April. The last thing I knew of her was she was diagnosed with Cushings - then I saw in her blogs that she had a brain tumor........then what? Where is she? Anyone hear from her? PLEASE PM ME or POST if you know anything!

I started massage therapy school 5 weeks ago and I'm lovin' it! Except for anatomy! Any secrets or tips for getting through this class? I have Anatomy and Physiology I, II, and III through next April and I think I'm going to die! We have our first anatomy exam tonight and I'm a nervous wreck. At my age (49) I don't seem to retain the information as well as I did when I was younger. But, my practicals and labs are going very well. I'm retaining everything that I put my hands on, so to speak. I have the flash cards and coloring books and they help but this subject matter is just so complex. Anyone else share my pain?

I had not seen Dr. 90210 in forever and last night, I caught it. He is certainly as crazy as ever. He is one of a kind for sure. I did notice though that Halley (sp?) has lost a lot of weight. Do you think she looks good? She used to be thin but looked very good and healthy and last night on the show, she looked extremely thin and her face looked pale. Certainly not very pretty at all. I didn't watch the whole show, but seems to me like the previews where implying that she might be pregnant. I don't want to start any disputes, by thinking she is ill looking or too thin. I just want someone to bring me up to date on what is going on with the show. Maybe if she is …
