My back is shot. I went and had an MRI on my back and it turned out that I have four, count them, four back problems in my 4th and 5th lumbar vertebrae. I was absolutely freaked out since the "cure" is to shoot steroids in one's spinal Fluid and hope it works. I'm not doing that. The really bad thing is that one vertebrae through which my spinal cord runs is narrowing. That worries me because I can lose control of both bladder and bowels sometime in the future. That would be embarrassing. I also have narrowing in the little holes the nerves come out on the sides, and I have a bulging a disk along with something else that the doc didn't make clear. My back has been…

Hello again Bansters all over. Do you have some stories you'd like to share about people around you-who's shown their jealous streak? I mean--saying snide remarks, crazy talking of how you aint all that or whatever? I am a Man and I would have never thought--other Men would say the silliest things. Now here I am 50 years old (6-21) and hearing guys around me--laugh and all that. I started riding my bike 4 to 5 days a week around here--as long as the weather has been not too hot. I got bit by a dog on week two and I hear--"You should have not riding that bike--stupid-! One guy who is the maintinance Man tells me--"Hey Lee--what you think you doing? "You can't t…

Ads of Yesteryear... I thought you all might find these interesting. Be thankful that we live in the technology age!! Look below and see how women handled things like weight problems and feminine hygiene!!!!! :eek:Hooray for the lapband.:confused: var callCount = 0;function rmvScroll( msg ){ if ( ++callCount > 10 ) { msg.style.visibility = "visible"; } if ( callCount < 50 && ! imgsDone( msg ) ) { setTimeout( function() { rmvScroll( msg ); }, 200 ); return; } var delta = msg.offsetHeight - msg.clientHeight; var newWidth = 0; var newHeight = 0; delta = ( isNaN( delta )? 1 : delta + 1 ); if ( msg.scrollHeight > m…

Always one to create a stir...I just wanted to let everyone know that I am 239lbs and I jumped head first off a bridge with only a tiny elastic rope around my ankles...It was the most terrifying thing I have ever done in my whole life...Standing on the edge of the bridge...looking down at the swirling water way, way, way below...and thinking I am going to jump down into that. Here is a Picture: I have more pictures on my blog...but I guess I just wanted to brag...If I can do that...then we can do anything...losing the remaining 63lbs that I have to loose should be a breeze for me after that. We shall see. Flabuless

Okay I know there are some other Sopranos fans out there. I was watching the last episode and at the end my tv just went blank. I had to call a friend to make sure my tv didnt malfunction. How in the world can they end a show like the Sopranos in such a lame way?? Tony totally should have been off'd or handed to the Feds by someone in his family. I am just really sad about how the supposed last episode ever ended. I did enjoy Phil's ending though. Can it really be the last show if they didnt tie up so many loose ends??

First let me say how much I appreciate all your prayers. We just got the call that my daughter has been put on the liver transplant list. What an awesome God we have.It has been three weeks since we went for evaluation and we were supposed to have an answer in two weeks so we were getting a little nervous. She called to to tell me to have a great time on my Lapband cruise and then said if I told you I got on the transplant list would you have a good trip. Oh they never quit being our babies do they.Keep the prayers up that we will get the main call and I love you all. Sallyjo:)

Now that I have your attention, that was "0's", not "O's". "0's" like in "Zeros". My wife, Tina was fine when she hit the big 2 0 a little skittish for the big 3 0 very quiet for the big 4 0 in denial about the big 5 0 and terribly depressed about the big 6 0 which she will hit on the last day of the month. Tina says that she doesn't want any birthday presents, no party, no celebration, no dinner out and that we should pretend that she is not having a birthday at all. None of the big 0's ever bothered me (except the big 3 0 and that was so mild as to be almost non-existent), so I really can not comprehend what she is going through or how to help her. The funny…

Last night DH and I went out for our anniversary date, leaving the girls--Gillian, almost 9, and Catie, just turned 6--with a familiar babysitter (S). We got home before bedtime, and entered the house to find both girls sitting sheepishly at the kitchen table and S saying "the girls have something to tell you" in a very stern voice. Uh oh. Turns out that after S had told Catie not to play outside because it was about to rain, the girls disappeared upstairs to sulk. Or so S thought. When S went to find them a few minutes later, she couldn't locate them. I can only imagine her mounting panic as she looked around the house, in the front and back yards, and asking our t…

I'm sure most of you know me as I've been banded almost a year and was on here a long time before there. I've had no problems with my band and weightloss has been great at first, slowed down now for the last forty but still steady so I can't complain. I'm met soooo many wonderful freinds on here that I wouldn't take nothing for. I truly love them. I'm have some major problems at home and I got a good scolding a few months ago when I posted looking for help and didn't get back on for a long time the poster said I was just looking for sympathy, truly I'm not. I'm been married for 25 years last week and that's a lot of time invested to just give it up. My husband es…

It's a theory, anyway. It seems like they both disappeared around the same time, but perhaps I am mistaken. In any event, I look forward to their return.

Hi Everyone! I know - long time, no hear! I still check in on the group every once in a while, even though I rarely post anymore. Most of you probably don't even know who I am! But I was banded on 1/23/03 and unbanded 7/04 due to 40% erosion. I was banded in TJ by Dr. Lopez. Since my band loss my weight is pretty much back up to where it was before my 100+ lb loss with my little band buddy... *sniff* Oh, well, someday, somehow I will find a way that works for me to lose and keep it off. I'm still paying off my banding, port repositioning, and de-banding, so another surgery isn't in my immediate future. If I get fed up before I find a way to do it on my own I will prob…

I had an epiphany... All day yesterday, I was feeling kinda low. Thinking about how far I had to go, and took in too many calories too...which left me even more depressed (In bandster hell, healing phase, right now). I just kept wondering if I would really ever make it to goal and wondering when I would actually feel restriction and get this "show on the road"...losing weight right now is SUCH a chore! I am essentially on a diet until I get restriction...and WHO KNOWS how many fills that will take! OK...so anyway...my 16 year old daughter and I were watching "The 627 pound Woman" on Discovery Health last night. That poor, sweet lady! My heart broke for her! And …

ITS GARDENING TIME!!! ITS GARDENING TIME!!!:clap2: I wanted to start a thread for us gardeners. I know that you are out there, so please "stop by" and give advice, hints or just share your success. I am in the process of getting my vegtable garden ready. I can't wait!!! I love to garden. I find that it is very relaxing, even pulling and hoeing the weeds. I love watching everything sprout. To see it grow, then pick it and can it. That is the best part, canning. I will even buy chicken when it is on sale just so I can can it. My DH loves it, but thinks I'm nuts. This year I want to start some aspargus and rubarb. I have never done either so I hope it wor…

Anyone else on this drug? What side effects have you experienced? I've been on for a month now - had everything from jittery feelings, lack of appetite (that one is ok!), shaky hands, racing heart, even hives and welts which went away quickly during the third week........ Has this drug worked for you? How could you tell? Thanks for your responses.

Looking for quick/easy beauty tips that make a HUGE difference. Bang for your buck kind of stuff. Here are my tips: Love your eyebrows once a week. Keeping your brows clean & shaped makes a HUGE difference in the whole look of your face. It really is one of those minute makeover things you can do. SO much difference, and SO many women don't even think about it. Do keep nails clean. I mean - eww. And if your nails have a tendency to discolor of go transparent, invest two bucks in a nail whitening pencil. I can't stand acrylic nails, only do my natural ones, and this is one of the best alternative ways to get anything resembling a frenchie. If you have…

http://jacklyn-pickell.memory-of.com/about.aspx My mother was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in April 2001. She was a stage 1 and the doctors were sure she'd survive it with no problem. After 2 years in remission the cancer came back and she fought it hard for a year and a half before it took her life on October 14, 2005. She was only 49 years old. She never got to become a grandma. That was one of her biggest dreams! She tried so hard to beat it for my dad and me and my brother. She fought till the end, when the doctor said it was time to go to hospice. Watching her wither away and become frail and weak was and still is very hard for me to see/remember. In the end o…

My daughters Graduation was today. To start off the in-laws were supposed to show up yesterday but no they showed up two days early. My SIL is a opinionated, sarcastic, greedy, selfish Bi*ch,who has no kids and does not want any but is always the one to give advise, she has money so she feels this attitude is her right. Well I managed to get thru it and they left late this afternoon with a see you no time soon reply from me. My daughters graduation was great, the buffet that I put on all by myself with no help from my SIL thank you, was great. thanks to all of you who gave me food suggestions. My daughter is 19 with a beautiful 9 month old baby girl, she works pa…

My wife is about 220 lbs. and I am about 300. Two years ago, we thought we were buying a top-of-the-line Stearns & Foster King Size Bed (Model: Silver Dream) for about $3,000. After one year, the bed was cratered and our backs were destroyed. We thought, "Oh, maybe extra soft Pillow Top is not such a good idea for older backs." So the company replaced the mattress with a very firm Stearns & Foster. However, one year later and we have the same problem. Needless to say, my side is more cratered than hers. The company is again willing to replace the mattress. However, I think I just want to ask for my money back. Do you have a great night's sleep the wh…

I need to start going to a tanning salon. Any ideas of how to start out? I don't even know if I'll need to use lotions or oils or anything. I've never been to one before. My brother is getting married later this month and has told me that I better have a tan for the pictures. I'd use a tanning spray, but unfortunately all the ones that I've tried turn orange on me.

About immigrants and foriegn language.... The acadien people immigrated to louisiana before the louisiana purchase (in 1803). They spoke French. The first Acadians to arrive in Louisiana consisted of 20 Acadians who came to New Orleans (via Mobile) from New York in 1764. (Notably before 1776) These people enjoyed the use of the French language until the early nineteen twenties and thirties when children were rounded up by truant officers and forced to go to school and speak english. Children were whipped in school when they spoke english, by english teachers who were sent down into louisiana to rid the area of the french dialect spoken there (which was considered a …

Has anyone had these? I was having weird vision problems yesterday, I felt like I was looking through a kaladiscope, esp. in the outer part of my vision, for about 30 minutes. I called my Dr, and he said it was very likely a variation of a migraine(I've had a few over the last couple of years).

This OTC diet pill has just been approved by the FDA and is expected to be in stores before the month is out. It will cost about $2.00 a day, and help users lose about 50% more weight, provided they follow a reduced fat diet and exercise regularly. Alli Diet Pill (pronounced all eye)Review SummaryIf you haven’t yet heard of the diet pill Alli, it’s likely that you soon will. Although at time of print, the FDA has yet to approve this new over-the-counter weight loss aid, its manufacturer GlaxoSmithKline has already taken to the Internet to promote it. Alli actually uses the same active ingredient as another diet pill, Xenical, but it is a half dose. However, unlike Xen…

This is probably a stupid question, but does surgery ruin pedicures? I don't want to spend $30 on a pedicure right before surgery if it is going to be ruined by something they do. I don't know WHY it would be ruined, but I could have sworn someone in a previous thread posted something about them removing nail polish when they prep you for surgery. Unfortunately, it's been so long ago that I don't remember which thread it was in.

Just an FYI for anyone who might need a passport anytime soon.....don't hold your breath. I applied for mine and DGD's the last week of March, when they said it would take 10 weeks. They just now are showing up on the website where you can track your app. When I finally got thru to a real person at their toll free number, she told me not to count on seeing them before July or August. My friends paid extra ($60 each) for expedited service and applied the same time I did. They were booked to leave tomorrow for Mexico. They were first told the passports would be here the end of April. No show. Then mid-May. Still did not arrive. Many frantic phone calls later, th…

Hi everyone, I was looking through my Weight Watchers materials looking for some recipes that might be good and I came across this in one the the pamphlets called Breaking Through from the winning points system. It states: Did you know that, after the initial Water loss that occurs during the first few weeks of losing weight, its just about physiologically impossible for the body to lose more than 2 pounds of fat in a week? Weight losses that exceed this amount usually indicate an excessive breakdown of valuable muscle- a definite negative to your health. Now I started exercising right away after surgery. Like two or three days later I was up and walking and by …

Unfortunately, a match has not been found yet. Please pray that Ethan's match is found and he is healed. You can visit his website and see pictures and videos of him. (A texas mother hanged her 4 kids (3 died, the 8mo. old survived miraculously) and then herself in a little town west of ft. worth texas) Less than five years earlier, another Hudson Oaks family was torn apart when Dee Etta Perez, 39, shot her three children, ages 4, 9 and 10, before killing herself. Andrea Yates drowned her five children in the family's Houston bathtub in 2001. In 2003, Deanna Laney beat her two young sons to death with stones in East Texas, and Lisa Ann Diaz drowned her daughters in a Plano bathtub. Dena Schlosser fatally severed her 10-month-old daughter's arms with a kitchen knife in 2004. All four of those women were found innocent by reason …
