Got thru Daughters Graduation

Recommended Posts

My daughters Graduation was today.

To start off the in-laws were supposed to show up yesterday but no they showed up two days early. My SIL is a opinionated, sarcastic, greedy, selfish Bi*ch,who has no kids and does not want any but is always the one to give advise, she has money so she feels this attitude is her right. Well I managed to get thru it and they left late this afternoon with a see you no time soon reply from me.

My daughters graduation was great, the buffet that I put on all by myself with no help from my SIL thank you, was great. thanks to all of you who gave me food suggestions.

My daughter is 19 with a beautiful 9 month old baby girl, she works part time, maintains a 3.8 GPA, along with taking 2 college classes, lives on her own, pays her own bills, and car payments. I'm so very proud of her for not being like so many girls that quit school when becoming pregnant. I started to cry when she was awarded 2 scholarships. she wears a size 22w and was voted prom queen this year, which I thought was awesome. she has overcome so much this past year. She will be attending college in the fall to become a social worker. She is one of the most determined young persons I know.

I just don't get the relatives, my SIL gave both my boys, who had GPA's of less then 2.5 more then 250.00 for their graduations but they gave my daughter 25.00 with the reply of, she doesn't need it, she works. Give me a break. Neither of the boys were planning on attending any college at the time so they both just blew the money out the window.

I know I went on and on, I just needed to share my day so I don't let my anger spill over to my family. Thanks for listening. Congrats to all the Grads.

Congratulations to your daughter! She sounds like a remarkable young woman who can be very proud of herself. You'r doing exactly the right thing by redirecting your frustration with family here, where it can't do any harm.

I wish my stepson showed half the initiative and determination that your daughter does. He's graduating in two weeks with no next step in mind. :girl_hug:

Congrats to your daughter. She really sounds like she has her act together. I have two daughters who make me so proud i could explode and i have an adopted son who is nothing but frustration. He failed math and English this year and has to go to summer school. He doesn't seem to think it is a big deal. Meanwhile the two girls are all A's and have summer reading and work for honors English. It can be so hard to parent them all when they are so different.

Your SIL sounds like a B all right. It must make it hard on you if you are close to your brother. You can never choose your in-laws...

Thanks All and yes she is remarkable, in my eyes anyway. It really makes a parent proud when the teachers and principal comment to you about how remarkable your child is.

Edie, I wasn't meaning all childless people are this way. I didn't mean to offend anyone. I just get tired of her always commenting on my children and how I should do this or that and raise them this way or that. I want to scream at her "When you have kids and go thru it, Then you have th right to give your opinion". I don't feel this way about most people, just her. I'm glad you forgive me.

AnnieM and Alexandra, I feel your frustration. My husband and I have done foster care for several years and some times you want to pull your hair out. I keep telling myself even with my own kids that they will grow up and become productive citizens, just love them and hold on, it could be a long ride. Thanks for listening. April

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
