Sara Lee....what the???????

I feel like such an idiot.

A big Sara Lee cake truck drove by me today and the logo said, "Nobody doesn't like Sara Lee." What the?????

All my life I thought it was "Nobody does it like Sara Lee."

Where have I been and why haven't the grammar police arrested Sara Lee yet?

:cry

LOLLL! I always thought that the motto was "nobody doesnt like Sara Lee" which is just as stupid, but thats what I always heard. What a goof. Just like the little girl that was singing "shes got a chicken to ride, Shes got a chicken to rii ii iid, shes got a chicken to ride and its in her hair!

Gibson,

I'm with you, because I thought for the life of me, it can't be, "nobody doesn't like sara lee"....because that's just ignorant.

Goes to show ya.

Totally agree. They person that cam up with that slogan should have been fired for suggesting it (and given grammar lessons).

I agree that it is one of the most annoying slogans!!!!!! However, here we are talking about it and now for some reason I feel like some pound cake. I guess that is the object. Pretty clever!

When you perform an exorcism on a twinkie, does the white stuff ooze out so you can get to it without fouling up the taste with that awful yellow cake?

I agree with lepez. Here's a whole thread about it. Whoever thunk it up should get a raise.

It took me a long time to understand that Huey Lewis wasn't singing, "Hit the B Square" :nervous

Sigh, I feel like a total ass for pointing this out, but I believe that the slogan is technically correct, because it is the correct use of a double negative. The meaning is "Everyone likes Sara Lee".

While use of a double negative is often intended (incorrectly) to create a negative by the speaker, in this case, the intention is to create a positive, and therefore its usage is correct.

That being said, it is a non-standard usage of the language and would be better suited to Middle English, when double negative usage was standard.

I use to gross out my ex-husband by calling them pus cakes. :heh:
