TWAS THE NIGHT OF THANKSGIVING, BUT I JUST COULDN'T SLEEP. I TRIED COUNTING BACKWARDS, I TRIED COUNTING SHEEP. THE LEFTOVERS BECKONED - THE DARK MEAT AND WHITE, BUT I FOUGHT THE TEMPTATION WITH ALL OF MY MIGHT. TOSSING AND TURNING WITH ANTICIPATION, THE THOUGHT OF A SNACK BECAME INFATUATION. SO, I RACED TO THE KITCHEN, FLUNG OPEN THE DOOR AND GAZED AT THE FRIDGE, FULL OF GOODIES GALORE. I GOBBLED UP TURKEY AND BUTTERED POTATOES, PICKLES AND CARROTS, BEANS AND TOMATOES. I FELT MYSELF SWELLING SO PLUMP AND SO ROUND, 'TIL ALL OF A SUDDEN, I ROSE OFF THE GROUND. I CRASHED THROUGH THE CEILING, FLOATING INTO THE SKY WITH A MOUTHFUL OF PUDDING AND…

Is anyone a fan of Funky Walker Dirty Talker on Mad TV? I'm dating this guy who likes to play this game where we take ordinary things and try to make them sound dirty, like "Baby, I want to walk into your church and start speaking in tongues." LOL. Anyhow, he's better than me at it, so I need suggestions on some funny ones I can use.

Hey everybody- Does anybody here have a tattoo and then lost a lot of weight? How did that affect the look of your tattoo? I'm considering getting a medium sized tattoo on my left shoulder blade and am concerned about whether I should wait until next year when I should be a whole lot smaller. I know the shoulder blade is pretty stable, but wanted to see what others have experienced. I'm hoping to lose between 80-100 pounds and I carry the majority of it in my bottom half. Help anybody?

Help welcome!! I am about to fly internationally for the 1st time. In 2 weeks I am going to be traveling from Texas to southeast Asia. I am very very nervous. (or just plain scared...lol). I have visions of leg cramps, blood clots and debilitating jet lag. I dread the flight itself which will be approx 26 hours in 3 jumps. The longest about 16 hours. I am still at about 225 lbs and I know this will be difficult, (but worth the effort.) Airplanes are barely designed for normal size ppl, let alone plus size. Does anyone have any experience or travel tips for long distance flights? Thanks for any suggestions to help prepare for this. Missy

I don't usually send these e-mails to people but true or not it is something interesting and people should think about and be aware of. This was emailed to me. -Josette Know how much money you are carrying! You will see why as you read! Be sure every lady is aware of this M.O. Share with it your wife and daughters. Know what money you are carrying... This was the first I have heard of a scheme like this and I wanted to pass it along. Criminals are coming up with craftier, less threatening methods of attack, so we have to be extra cautious. Read on*. I live in Alexandria, VA, but I often work in Lafayette, LA, staying with friends when I'm th…

Well, this is totally not band related, but I thought there might be some good sources of information here. I am allergic to mosquito bites and leaving for a vacation in a place with a lot of mosquitos. I need to bring some good solutions along with me. Tell me what you use that works! Creams, lotions, sprays, candles, Patches, electric gadgets, or anything else that might help me out. I won't be able to buy anything on island, so I have to bring it all with me. The last time we were in a similar resort, I was eaten alive both in our room and walking around the resort, so I need something to combat the pesky buggers in the zone of our hotel room as well as in my…

Hello, New to group, I am the patient doctors don't want to admit exist! I had the band in January 2003 and have had 4 port replacements since. In the beginning, the pain was so severe around my side I could hardly move for days at a time. They say it must has irratated a nerve where the port was? Has anyone had problems with the port coming through their skin? This is my 4th port, the first three all came through the skin within a few months of surgery. The doc said my body must be rejecting it? Finally they put in a stainless steel one, the wound healed and months later a pimple started on the spot and in days, it was open again. It did close again in a few mont…

HOORAY! Maybe now we can begin to stop the last greatest human rights violation of our time in the United States! If I ever get divorced from my husband, I will marry a woman! Yes I will! How DARE the government tell me who I can or can't marry (as long as it's consenting adult!) I knew it was WRONG to deny Gay people the right to get married when I was four years old! I wanted to marry my best friend Kristin and my mom said I couldn't because two girls could not get married and I was like "WHAT?!?!?! WHY NOT?????????? WTF???" GAY MARRIAGE NOW!!!

I bought this thing this weekend... even though I didn't absolutely love the colour (though, it'll probably look nice when the light hits it). If you can't tell from the pic, its a 'mobile' with those flat, iridescent-y shells. I have this idea that I'd like to make my own, with shells the colour *I* want them to be. But I have no idea what those shells are called, to look up somewhere online to buy them. I can't just say 'sea shells', cause I'm not getting the results I want. Anyone have any clue? (sorry it's sideways!)

first of all, SOMEBODY teach me how I make a poll on this forum, I am a forum vet but I can't figure this place out!!!! :faint: Anyways, The thread I mentioned got me too thinking (which may or may not be a bad thing considering what I am going to be talking about) , how many of you used to be skinny and then just gained weight due to kids, life changes, etc.? or How many of you have been overweight your whole life/long as you can remember? Also, for those of you who used to be skinny. Did you deride (best word I can think of at the moment for what I am trying to convey) overweight people? overweight persons and how did you feel after you became overweight when the t…

Shadowboxer is out on DVD and is a must rent if you like slightly off-beat movies. Cuba Gooding Jr plays a professional assassin whose partner, both in life and in crime, is Rose (played by Helen Mirren). Rose and Mikey (CG Jr) have a relationship that is both repellent and touching - tender, but disturbing. It runs the gamut from familial to erotic and back again. Rose is dying from Cancer and as a result, now believes in God. When she and Mikey go to do a job and find that one of the witnesses is an innocent, very pregnant girl in labor, Rose makes a snap decision. "We're keeping them," she says. "Rose, they aren't puppies," Mikey reminds her. But keep the…

Dealing with one problem at a time... Last month I went to the Dermatologist for pail red blotchy rough spots on my cheeks (not really on my nose, just cheeks). And Rosacea is what she diagnosed me with (**Ive been using 1% hydrocortisone for the past 10 years. Ive just NOW decided it was time to get proper treatment for this problem** i know, i know... :eekB: ) Anyway, the doc gave me a regimen of different creams and moisterizers to try (both otc and scripts). With the instructions of, "some thing work for some, and other things work for others. We just need to find the right treatment for YOU." So that left me feeling a little nervous. So Ive started usi…

I have been suffering from horrid insomnia. Now that I am off work on summer break I am waking up by AT LEAST 5:30, if I am lucky enough to sleep in that late, lol. We BBQued yesterday and had company....so I cleaned house beforehand for about 3 hours. Swept, mopped, vacuumed, cleaned and bleached all 3 bathrooms, etc...then played in the pool for 2 hours. I should have slept like a baby, but I was awake at 3:30, wide awake!! Does anyone else have this problem? I have suffered from insomnia all my life and have yet to find something that doesnt leave me with a "sleeping pill hangover". What can I take for this? Something has gotta give.

Hi I am a lapbander but want to ask a question unrelated to weight loss. I want to visit florida but need to know where the nearest beach is. I know the Hilton have a hotel on a beach but which is the nearest airport . Is there a beach near Disney world. I would be coming from Manchester airport in the UK. Another thing I would like to know is where the Americans themselves stay when on vacation in Florida. One more question. What is the weather like in December Hope you can help. Best wishes laine

Long story short - SIL had a baby at some point within the last 6 days. We don't know name, gender, condition, etc. Need to send a gift, but I'm clueless. There are also some special limitations I have to work around: Cannot be electronic (it's going to a foreign country and they're on DC) Cannot be language-oriented (so no books or things with words on them) Has to be gender neutral - we don't know what the baby is Cannot be "decorative" (e.g. bedding) because we don't know what the nursery looks like Has to be easily shippable, e.g. fit into a standard size box, not overly fragile, etc. Ideally it's lightweight, but that's not necessary Cannot be foods or peris…

Does anyone have any criminal lawbackground, I desperately need advice as I have a lawyer but would like to have a second opinion... Here is the case briefly: I have been charge with three counts of assault as a result of defending myself. My spouse and I had a fight, and he almost threw me out of the car and I punched him, for him to stop trying to push me out. Now my lawyer told me that I am facing most likely jail time and this is my first offence, is this usual for first time criminal offence? what other outcome could there be?

Some people have asked me how to use quotes in a thread: For the rest of my posts in this thread, whenever you read a < it means to type a [ and a > means to type a ] I will use quotation marks to show what I am talking about, but you would not actually copy the quotation marks (unless they were there and you wanted them in the quote. If I put what I actually wanted you to write you would not see what you need to type: Example: In a post I write "I think BuSh is a terrible President" along with about 3 or 4 paragraphs of other writing, and you want to debate that point. You can copy "I think BuSh is a terrible President" by highlighting it and then holdin…

My old friend Sarah died today. She had a huge tumor in her spleen - as big as a football. So we made the very, very painful decision to have her put down. My DH - God bless him - had to take me home after I almost passed out at the vet's office. But he went back and stayed with her to the end. We could have opted for a spleenectomy, an iffy procedure in a dog 14 years old, and then chemo therapy, provided the cancer had not spread. Sarah was not in pain at this time and it was important to me that her quality of life be respected. Best case scenario, the vet said, was probably 6 to 12 months. But the chemo has terrible side effects. It broke my heart,…

I'd like to suggest that EVERYONE take two steps back when reading posts they feel are directed at them personally, and think if it could be read as a general comment. If it can, it should be. I'm on another board where people feel they have to qualify every use of the word "you" with "(general you)" and that drives me absolutely NUTS. It's grammatically absurd and shouldn't be necessary anyway. We should just assume that unless someone is directly addressed BY NAME, all advice and commentary is GENERAL. So that's my hope. Let's start by assuming the best of other posters, and keep the discourse impersonal. Any hurt feelings are usually completely and totally uninten…

For the Christmas Gift Exchange, could I propose something? It's just a suggestion, but I thought maybe when people give their name/address they could also say whether they would prefer "Christmas stuff" or "Personal Stuff". I have been keeping house for a looooooong time, so I already have more Christmas decorations than I know what to do with. Plus, my birthday is Christmas Eve, and I often get Santas, etc for my B Day. (Probably because it goes on sale around the 20th....LOL.) Anyone think that's a good idea? Or not?

The post might have been lost in the LBT server crash, so I can't find it ANYwhere, and I'm wondering if anyone remembers. I don't know the thread title, or the Forum it was in. I *think* it was a guy who was the poster (not the thread-starter) and he was from...Argentia? no...Costa Rica? no...I don't recall. He has been banded 5+ years and he posted something about eating Soups first, and other softer foods, before eating heavier foods, and felt that having a softer diet helped prevent erosion? soemthing to that effect. I wanted to go back and read what he said...it really piqued my interest! Does anyone remember this post? I have done searches but nothing.…

Did you see Oprah and her two Dr friends? I was so glued to my set! If I knew what they were discussing many years ago I dont think I would have taken my weight gain with such a cavalier attitude. I was moved to tears for my whole family. I have such a new found motivation to clean out my cabinets of all the junk and letting them hate me if they want to. I am strong enough in my love for them to make that stand. I know it is going to be a major process, but I wont be able to look myself in the mirror in a few years if I at least dont try. They are worth it. I am worth it. I need to get the book they just published. Im going online to her website to find out the name of it…

Perhaps this explains why people need a college education so much more today than they did a century ago. This is the eighth-grade final exam from 1895 from Salina, Kansas. It was taken from the original document on file at the Smoky Valley Genealogical Society and library in Salina, Kansas and reprinted by the Salina Journal. 8th Grade Final Examination Grammar (Time, I hour) Give nine rules for the use of Capital Letters. Name the Parts of Speech and define those that have no modifications. Define VerseStanzaParagraph. What are the Principal Parts of a verb? Give Principal Parts of dolielayrun. Define Case. I am a subscriber to mexicanbandsters and though I'm not an active member and never post, I get all the posts in my email. There was an interesting one the other day from Inamed saying that forum will now be moderated and any post with complaints about a doctor or facility must be sent to them for verification at the same time it's sent to the forum. They will then, after investigation, let the forum know if it can be posted. I thought this was interesting, to say the least.

My newest, latest, greatest FUR BABY! Her name is "Steelah". (after the Steelers of course). Her and Bettis became BEST friends and she is fitting in nicely. We adopted her from the Humane Socioty 3 weeks ago. She is 8 months old. Can you believe she had already been there almost 2 weeks and no one adopted her???? She is a GREAT dog/friend too! She was scheduled to be put down in just 2 days! I am soooooooooooo glad I went there that day to "look" (read as: find a new friend).

Hurray! It’s almost NANOWRIMO time! The most magical month of all! Okay, so that might be a little hyperbole. But not by much.... I mean, not only do we have nanowrimo, but we have Halloween, Thanksgiving, Yule and Christmas! Then New Years! I’m hoping that I get to get cured of Cushing’s too, which will make it even more magical and special! For those of you who don’t know: National Novel Writing Month is a fun, seat-of-your-pants approach to novel writing. Participants begin writing November 1. The goal is to write a 175-page (50,000-word) novel by midnight, November 30. I don't know about the page thing, but according to the way I write and Word, that's only 4 …

What is your favorite horror (scary) movie of all time? And why? If you don't like horror (scary)movies why? My favorite horror movie of all time would be any of the Pyscho movies. The reason I like them, because they are realistic in a sense, and not too bloody or far fetched.

This is my--and my children's--first Halloween without me partaking in the consumption of: Chocolate and Gummies and Caramel--Oh my! Halloween for me will be the first holiday that I will not be eating the treats that usually would have killed any diet I had been on before. But, so would Thanksgiving, vacations, Birthdays, office parties, etc. My surgery is Nov. 9, and I've been on the protein only diet as directed. My kids mean well, but they've been trying to get me to eat just a little piece of nondiet food. It's actually easier to stay on my diet when I'm alone than with someone, which is the opposite of what I had done in the past years: eat in secret. I abso…

I started watching it this season. I have mixed emotions about it. This last episode I watched was about this autistic ghost that was attached to Christmas Ornaments. Pretty awesome show. Had me in tears at the end. The real reason I am posting is to let the GW fans know that the shows producers are filming in our house on the 25th of this month. WHOOPEE!!! THat is true. They are going to be filming one telephone scene in our kitchen and a scene in John's recording studio around the baby grand piano. When I know the exact airing of that episode I will let you all know. How exciting is this? I might actually get to meet Jennifer Love Hewitt. If I can take pics witho…

Anyone here have an IUD? I've been on birth control for the past 20 years, and have had lots of trouble with bleeding - up to 3 weeks each month lately - past 5 years or so. I have PCOS too - on metformin and currently on yasmin birth control to try to control it, but not a lot of luck. Anyway, after a recent visit to a brand new gynecologist (new and very very young!) she thinks I should get off the pill and try the IUD - will help, I guess, with all the bleeding. A last ditch effort before talking about a hysterectomy. I'm a little nervous about the pain from the insertion......anyone have any comments on this? I'd appreciate it! Amy

Today is exactly 10 months to the day since my wife's surgery. We decided to go do some early Christmas shopping and she was rummaging in the closet for something to wear. She comes out of the closet dressed in a pair of brown pants. She works as a receptionist and always, ALWAYS wears black pants. She's had the same job for the last 4 years. Those brown pants have been parked in the back of the closet for 4 YEARS. She says, "These are a pair of my 'back of the closet pants." AND.....she has a little extra room in the caboose.

Let's talk about Halloween! Are you going to a party? Staying home handing out candy? How about dressing up? A favorite Halloween memory? What are your kids dressing as? I am a student. I completed my Bachelor's degree in Wildlife and Fisheries Science in May 2005. I am currently working on my Master's degree in Biology. I will hopefully be graduating in May or July 2007 and then going on to get my PhD in wildlife biology or some associated field. I am also teaching, as part of a graduate assistantship scholarship. I teach two biology labs a week for non-majors, and I assist in two biology classes a week for education majors. What do you guys (and girls) do?
