Hi, I can thoroughly recommend Dr Cierny and his team. I can also recommend the UK company that arranges the whole operation as a package, Cosmtic Bliss. They sent me all the info I needed and handled all the bookings that needed to be done, sent me the liver reduction diet details and a whole load of other info. It was very professional with a human face. The whole package cost just over ?5,000 plus an optional ?300 extra insurance which I opted for as I am a major pessamist! This included everything, flights, hotel, clinic etc. In the UK I was told a lap band would cost around ?11,000 privately, so the economics were astounding. I was originally supposed to have the…

I had my surgery 12/31/08. I had a rough start (search and find my other posts), but all in all, I'm satisfied with Weber. He has been in bariatrics for awhile at Kaiser, so he has the confidence you'd expect. I have to fly from the Big Isle to Oahu to see him. What I like is that he let's you be in control with fills or no fills. He is liberal when it comes to eating solids after fills. This makes sense to me because only you know what you can handle. You need to feel the effects of band and what you are capable of. He takes time to listen to your concerns then answers responsibly. He is supportive and doesn't criticize.

As title says am still very satisfied with how the surgery itself went in March 2009. This post is to update the aftercare which I find professional yet caring. Staff is wonderful... never have to wait long for my appointment. (If it's at 2:00, I'm in on the scales by 2:05 at the latest). For fills, this guy is good! It has never been painful for me; just a tiny prick then in and the fill starts. I've been able to carry on a conversation while it goes in. Still highly recommended. Julia PS: Oh, the weight is coming off at a rate both he and I are satisfied with right now.

I was just banded a couple weeks ago. Dr. Shen is great. He is very knowledgeable and breaks things down so they are easy to understand. I also appreciated, he only made 4 small incisions instead of the 5 he typically does - he said he tries to do the least amount if he doesn’t need to. Everything is healing up, and I'm really glad I worked with the bariatric department at Emerson - they are a wicked nice group of people. :w00t:

Hello! Greetings from sunny Corpus Christi, Texas! My husband applied for a job in Anchorage, and it looks promising. So it may very well be that we will be moving up there. I have an excellent surgeon here, whom I adore, who gives me top notch care. I see him regularly, and he monitors my fills as a friend would. I'm a little nervous about coming up there and finding the right fit for me. those of you who have stumbled on this site, please let me know your experiences. This move would be stressful for me. Like moving to the moon..... Stress causes band tightness and discomfort, so I'm worried. Suggestions? Tips? Advice? Doctors? Hospitals? clinincs?

:redface:Hey everyone, I have a consultation with Dr. Cirangle tomorrow. I guess I’m getting a little nervous. Are there any other people here to have been banded by Dr. C? I was just wondering about how long the entire process will take? My insurance doesn’t require a 6 month doctor supervised diet. When I called HMSA they said all I need was a BMI of 40 or above (mine is 43.3) and I need to be at least 100 lbs overweight. I’m about 128 lbs over. I’m really excited and super nervous at the same time. I was also wondering what kind of pre-op tests he requires and what his aftercare program is like? Mahalo, Malia

Dr. Albert T. Spaw did my lap-band procedure as well as most of my friends' lab-band procedures (all 8 of them). He is a wonderful surgeon. He and his staff are a great team. I highly recommend a visit to the Baptist Metabolic Surgery Center in Nashville if you are considering weight loss surgery. Once you meet Dr. Spaw you'll understand why... Best of Luck...

I have had my first adjustment (on Aug. 3rd) with Dr. Francis and just loved her! I have had the band for a year and am on my 4th fill. I have switched doctors to Dr. Francis after being referred by many to her. I have just under 7 cc's in my 10 cc band and was just wondering what to expect. I will tell you what I am experiencing 3 days into it and maybe you can share your experiences. Still on liquids but tried a teaspoon of Yoplait fat free yogart at lunch - back pain, chest pain...maybe I tried it too soon, maybe to fast. I have had a hard time with Gerd (only at night, when I lay down) the first night, this was painful....last night, I must have burped stom…

I had my lap band placed on 11/3/08 at TAMC. The surgery went well and I was up and about quickly. I am down about 60# since the informational meeting, 32# since my surgery. I have had several fills but haven't found my sweet spot yet. It's difficult for me to fit his fill days into my schedule, so it's taking me a little time to get where I need to be. Anyone else out there used Dr. Stan? Sandy 257/198/149

I just read a great post by 'wasabubblebutt' regarding Mexico doctors. I wanted to let anybody know, who is interested, that I was banded by Dr. Lopez in TJ, Mexico. If anybody has any questions regarding this doctor, his side-kick doctors, price, pre-op diet, post-op diet, hospital care, transportation, staff, flouroscopy, or anything else regarding my experience, please do not hesitate to ask right here. Or you can privately email me and I will answer your questions. I want people to feel like they are making the right decision by having surgery outside of the US and with a doctor they can trust.

I am in a program called Fresh Start Bariatrics part of Riverside Methodist Hospital. It is an amazing program. The doctor who runs the program is Doctor Myers. He is an amazing doctor and so is the program. I started in February with an all day visit, I had a full blood workup, I met with a dietician, a psychatrist, and had a full physical. Afterwards they set any appointments for you that the doctor may have asked for during your physical, like a stress test. Then you meet with the dietician once a month while keeping a journal of everything you eat and the time. They start getting you ready for post surgery. You cut out the caffine, soda, and start with no dr…

I went to my Primary Care Physician Dr. Dagg at Swedish Physicians Clinic and told him about my history of obesity, diets, etc. I needed to go through him for some testing for insurance purposes and also I wanted a second opinion about this. He knew that I was already seeing an obesity-surgery doctor and asked who it was. When I told him, he was very polite and political but said he "doesn't recommend" Dr. Fox. He basically told me that Dr. Fox lost his medical license for a while (but he didn't know WHICH Dr. Fox, father or son...) and implied that there had been a recent death and that the Foxes weren't trained in bariatrics specifically (although he acknowledged …
