I am using Dr. Miguel Angel Rojas Pineda in Tijuana, MX. My mom trusts him and only him with my procedure. My question is....has anyone else used him? Was your experience a good one? Just wondering...

I have started my 3 mth pre diet at Health Strategies and it's been a rough and bumpy ride and I am going on day 4 it has gotten easier as the days go by.I wish it was Faster but before you know I will be done.

Hi, I'm looking for a recommendation of a Bariatric -Lap Band doctor in MD, VA or DC. Getting information from Insurance is difficult, I have CareFirst Blue Choice (FED) and the list of Gastro physicians within the network is huge and I don't know how to make a selection. Do all Gastro physicians do Bariatric Surgery? I've spoken to several people that have had the procedure in my area but none of the doctors are within my network. Any advise is really appreciated! I just want to get started.

I had LB surgery with Dr. Martin on April 28, 2010. I had virtually no pain, just one day of discomfort. The incisions are tiny, and two weeks out I can barely see one of them already. Great Dr. and staff!!!

I am 6 months post op, tomorrow. I just wanted to put out there how disappointed I've been in the group that performed my surgery, TLC Edge in Dallas, Tx. The post- op services that they promised and said were included have been virtually non-existant. My appointments for my fills have been moved (time and location) on several occassions, without my knowledge. I just want to caution anyone who's thinking about using them to look elsewhere - for your own good.

Anyone know anything about (or have experience with) Dr. Robert Landerholm? I'm tentatively scheduled for a self-pay surgery with Dr. Landerholm for May 6th. When I asked him how many lap sleeves he'd done, he said "hundreds." When asked about leak statistics (I forgot to ask about infections!) he said there was one leak, due to patient non-compliance with the post-op diet. He said that he'd not had any mortalities (one patient had died post op of a heart attack, but it was several weeks out and more likely due to a sick, obese patient than anything surgical). I've done a little research on Dr. Landerholm, and he is a "FACS" and I haven't seen ANY negative feedba…

What a great soothing experience so far with Dr. Griffin. I love his staff, and the way they treat their patients. His nutritionist never talks down to you and is always out to lend a hand in your progress. Dr. Griffin is honest and to the point. I really respect that. I am now 33 Days out from surgery......... Hello, looking at all the options out there and right now the sleeve is looking like a much better fit than the band for me and my wife. Unfortunately TRICARE will not cover this procedure at this time (Medicare now codes so I'm sure other insurance will follow) so we are looking at other options. Being retired military we found out that Madigan Army Hospital performs the surgery and I'm just curious if anyone up in this area has used them? Thanks!

Dr Archer did my lapband in March 2010. I have been very pleased so far. I have been followed very closely and have so far had one fill (at 7 weeks). Stephanie his P.A. does the fills and is a sweetheart, explaining everything as she goes along. I would recommend this office to anyone.

I am scheduled for a seminar on Wednesday but I can’t seem to find any information on them. I did find the Drs. names finally; they are Dr. Robert Davis, Carols Ferrari and Ricardo Bonner. I have heard great things about Dr. St Laurent but he is not in my network. I am hoping that my insurance will cover this if not them I may go to him. Ok so Dr. John is AMAZING!! He had the lap-band done himself so he's very sympathetic and can let you know exactly what to expect!! He's very caring and KNOWS what he's doing!!!! I am a Christian, so him praying with me before surgery meant alot and I didn't even ask.....haha. Good man...GREAT SURGEON...and great hospital!!! :confused: Knew he was the surgeon for me the first time I met him!! And he does all his own seminars!!! I mean what more can you ask for...Plus his office is very very helpful in matters of insurance..they submitted my stuff online and I was approved in 10 minutes! I am new here and am researching where to go in Mexico. Having been reading through these forums for the last few days it seems like the argument is between Dr. Aceves and Dr. Reyes. Quite a few people have posted saying they went to Dr. Reyes but only a few people have said they went to Dr. Aceves. Has anyone been to Dr. Aceves recently and have an experience to share? I would highly recommend Dr. Portenier and the Duke Weight Loss Surgery Center. When you go to DWLS, you get a team of professionals in addition to Dr. Portenier. They are professional, efficient, and supportive. The before surgery care and post surgery services are thorough. I believe this is a reason that Duke is a Center of Excellence for BCBS. I had no problems getting insurance coverage. I first saw Dr. Portenier on 12/22/08. I had lab work done on 12/29, and insurance approval on 12/31. I am proud to say that I was branded, errr I mean banded by this wonderful doctor. He's kind, compassionate and patient. And not bad on the eyes either ladies! LOL Anyway the office and staff have been great, so far I don't have any complaints. This is a great idea and thanks to the powers that be for this forum.

Dr. Overby is scheduled to do my surgery on May 7th, 2010. He was recommended to me by 2 people who have had gastric bypass done by him. Surely there are more patients of his out there is cyber land?

Hi all, I just tried to call and schedule an unfill (I am miserable right now and have finally just owned up to the fact it is too tight. The past 4 days have let me know it's not working for sure) anyway, it was still Susie on the answering machine. I then sent an email message (hoping that with more contacts I would get a better response) and an automatic reply came back saying she no longer works for Dr. Chae and the National Bariatric Center. Is someone else there now? Is it still hard to get in touch with someone? I did leave a message but.........???

Does anyone have Orange Coast Memorial Medical in Fountain Valley for their surgery Dr's? I just got my surgery date today and they stated their 1st available surgery date isn't till 9/1/2010. Has anyone heard of TLC Edge Surgical Weight Loss Facility in Plano, TX? Any comments you want to share about them. I have an appointment tomorrow with them for my first visit and I'm interested in knowing about them.

Dr. Terracina was my doctor, he was great and very caring taking time to explain and answer all questions. I was banded by him in June 09 and it was one of the best decisions I have ever made for myself.

Everything about my experience with him and his staff has been awesome. Angelica helped with the paper work, Lisa with my postop, Dr. Enoch is the best surgeon ever. I can't say enough about Brett for fills! I really don't know who I am happiest about!

I met with Dr. Spivak on Saturday March 20th and I adore him already. My parents were both banded by him 4 years ago but I am considering a different option--the gastric sleeve. Are there any of Dr. Spivak's patients here that have had the sleeve that I can talk to? I'm 99.9% sure this is the procedure I want and Dr. Spivak is the only Dr. I would trust to do it.

Has anyone had to deal with insurance covering 90% and then the hospital wanting the out of pocket expenses upfront before surgery. Is this something that can be agreed upon or ? They are telling me I need 2800 upfront before surgery and I only planned for 750! Is there anything out there that says that a hospital must work w/ you on the remaining amount or is it even negotiable? Im deciding whether or not I need to possibly switch facility which means probably the doctor too. Just freaking out I will know more Monday, but I've waited this long to get approved to be told that I have to come up with this kind of money upfront before surgery!:biggrin:
