I had years of struggling with my weight. Exhausted from my endless weight loss diets, programs, etc I decided to attend an Information Session at Celebration Hospital. Dr. Kim and Dr. Marema were the physicians at this program. I made an appointment at the office for a consult. Dr. Marema was the doctor who took my case. In hindsight, I wish I would have seen Dr. Kim. The Lap Band worked wonders for me for 3 years. I was 20 pounds from my ultimate goal weight then I started to have complications. My band had slipped and I had developed/exacerbated a hiatal hernia. Long story short, the band was removed, hiatal hernia was repaired. So medically I am much better. I am very disappointed with the level of patient care/concern I received from Dr. Marema and his nurse. I feel they were very dismissive of my complaints. I felt as though I was a nuisance to them. Turns out there was a real problem. I even had to be admitted to the hospital for dehydration. Just 24 hours before, the nurse told me I was over-reacting and panicing and I should calm down (in a very stern voice) Post Lap Band removal, I have called with some questions. I wanted to speak to Dr. Marema not his nurse. She told me that Dr. Marema does not return call to patients (only if it is an emergency). I have never heard of doctors refusing to call patients. Since he is only available to see patients every 2 weeks or so, I couldnt wait for any appointment for an answer to my concern. Read my review of Dr. Marema and the office for more info.
