Anyone out there who has been or is going to be banded by Dr. Ringley in Saginaw, MI? I've been working with him and have a surgery date in July . . .everything has been great so far.

I was banded by Dr. Lord in march and I have to say he did awesome! he and his staff are very friendly and personable and I love going in there to see them!!

Hey Everyone!!! I am going to be banded in January in Cancun, Mexico. Does anyone know or heard of Dr. Fernando Ceron?? I am looking for anyone who would like to share there Cancun story, or other important info regarding Dr. Fernando Ceron. Insight is worth its weight in gold right now!!! Hi Everyone! I just discovered this site a few days ago and have been reading like crazy. Lots of great information. I have begun the process of getting approved for surgery in my hometown where there is a Bariatric Center of Excellence with excellent surgeons. My insurance will cover gastric bypass but will not cover VSG. I actually didn't even know about VSG until I started reading about it on another site last week. VSG feels like the perfect fit and addresses my most pressing concerns about having bypass surgery: what seems like mutilation of the natural process of digesting and absorbing with the bypass, Vitamin deficiencies, not being able to take NSAID's, dumpin…

Hi, I am new to this forum and looking at sleeves verses banding. Mexico is becoming an excellent option for me but the east coast is easier for me than the west. I know there are 2 good hospitals in cancun- galenia and amerimed. Dr Verboonan and his team from out of the Galenia and I am hearing good things about them. Anyone have any experience of these or can offer me any advise would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Is it normal to have reservations "after" surgery? I'm having pain induced panic attacks that I made the wrong decision....I know it's just the pain....and hope the feelings are normal...

Dr. Seth Kipnis now works out of Jersey Shore Medical Center in Neptune NJ which is part of the Meridian Health System which I work for. Ofcourse I just found out a few days ago about Dr. Kipnis and had already had my surgery done by Dr. Michael Nussbaum up in Livingston. I don't regret it though because Dr. Nussbaum is wonderful and I have had no problems to date. knock wood

Does anyone has feedback on either of these Drs? I'm thinking about changing surgeons and of the very limited choices I have for Tricare in DFW, their office seems to be the most recommended. How is Presby Plano, and is an overnight stay typical with them? All the posts I've read from people banded there stayed overnight, which I'm actually in favor of. Thanks for any info!

OMGosh! I have my surgery date! August 27, 2010. I'm so excited, nervous, scurred lol...I have so many emotions! I just had to share.

Dr. G has endured many of my questions, and I ask a lot and has always answered my questions and never makes me feel rushed and spends as much time as you need. I had heard of his office self-pay band price of $12,000, which is better than anyone around and I wanted to see who has taken advantage of this. Holly

Hi I have state medicaid and can only go to UW, even though I live on the other side of the state. Any suggestions on which doc to have surgery with? Any tips on how to make things go smoothly?

I just got an HMO that pays for gastric surgery. So I'm thinking about getting the lap-band, and I'm considering Dr. Mark Paya. Any recommendations / opinions? Also, I was googling lap-bands and I ran across a place in San Fran that said that, due to their patient's experiences, they can't in good conscience, recommend this surgery anymore. What's that about? Are there obsolete type of banding surgeries? Is there a specific type of band I should be looking for?

Dr. Wohlgemuth performed my surgery and he is very nice. I felt very at ease with him from the start. I would recommend him to anyone. Actually the whole sentara group is awesome. Check out Norfolk Surgical Group.

Hi, I was just wondering if anybody has used Dr. Frank Veninga of Carrollton, Texas as their surgeon? I am scheduled to meet him this week for my surgery consultation. I just wanted any feedback if anyone has been to him. Thanks!

I had my first one on one meeting with Dr. Ali last week. He seems very knowledgeable and did not rush me at all during the visit. He answered all my questions but did not seem to take any kind of personal interest in me. I wasn't expecting to be best buddies...I don't know what I was expecting. His staff is amazing though - very nice, helpful, and I felt like I connected with them!

I'm hoping to have the band soon. I'm quite scared. There are so many private clinics, how do I know who to trust? I have a consultation with a company on Wednesday, only to read on this website that they have a really bad rep. Does anyone have any suggestions or help pls? I'm really desperate now, having tried everything + dont want to make things worse by making the wrong decision of who to choose to have my op with. Any help much appreciated Bex x

I have found that the procedure is only in Mexico. can anyone help with this? Thanks!!

I was banded by Dr Nagy 6/8 he is very nice guy and have had no issues. I had my first fill on 7/7 and I see him again soon. Wonder if I will get another fill. He does kind of leave up to me. I would highly recommend him.

I'd like to hear from anyone who has had lap band surgery with Dr. Aceves - or who knows of his work. I am about to shedule surgery with him for January. Thanks for any info. Jackie

Dr. Robert M. Althar, of Pace, Florida performed my surgery utilizing the single incision type of surgery. I could not be more pleased with his deft, delicate surgery. In fact, I never had a need for any pain medication. He knows about the VSG as his receptionist/front desk person and Dr. Althar himself have had the procedure. If you live within a couple of hours drive of Pace Florida (near Pensacola), and are considering the VSG it might be worth the drive. No, I am not a paid employee, just a happy patient.

Hello everyone, I am a new member and will have surgery at LapSF, most likely with Dr. Jossart. There's so much talk here on VST about the doctors in Mexico but I've never seen posts regarding doctors in the Bay Area of Northern California or about Dr. Jossart. Is there anyone who has had Dr. Jossart or had their procedure at LapSF?

I was banded in North Jersey by another doctor but can no longer travel to north jersey,so I needed a doctor here in south jersey.I went to Dr. Yves Manigat as a new patient,referred by a lapband member. I have to say he is an excellent doctor,who makes you feel comfortable. He had no problem taking me on as a patient,even though I was banded elsewhere. he has a lot of patients so be prepared to wait.As soon as my other medical problems are clear I plan to go back to him and get back on track.

Dr Britt Did my Lap-Band on 3/23/09, He was great before, during and after the surgery. I would reccomend anyone to him!

I had Dr. Naziri do my gallbladder surgery in Jan. 2008. He has excellent bedside manners and is very kind and compassionate. I chose this Dr. to perform my lap band surgery! I would recommend him to anyone in Greenville considering the lap band.

This is the thing- Assuming my credit union adds the cash to my credit line, I will be having my surgery 1/8. I'm sooo excited. The easiest thing would be to go alone because my DH and I have a 7 month old baby and we don't want to leave our son with family for that long. Would it be feasible or practical for them to come with me and stay at the hotel at night and just visit me during the day? I also could bring my 14 yr old daughter with me (she'd probably love it) Or.. I can go alone. For those of you that have been there, which would be the best thing to do?? Sleeved May 14th, 2010 I had the sleeve done May 14th, 2010 in Mexico. My surgeon was Dr. Almanza. My surgery went well. Here are my details... My husband and I flew to San Diego with another couple. We were picked up at the hospital and taken directly to the lab for blood work. From there we were taken to Jerusalem Hospital. I got ready for surgery and was on the OR table and I don't remember being put out! (Must be pretty good stuff! LOL) I woke up in the recovery room. (I also had my gall bladder removed at the same time. Heard many stories about people having gall bladder problems after losing weight so quickly and wished they would have had the gall bladder remov…

My low life doctor quoted me a price of $16500 (all inclusive) when I called to get pricing for lap band surgery. I make an appointment, then go to a nutritionist per his instruction (additional $250), go to a general doctor (per his instruction) for a letter of medical necessity and ekg (additional $300) and how he's telling me that they have gone up on their price $3000. So, can anyone recommend a doctor in Mexico? I hear they do the surgery for around $7000 (all inclusive).

I had my surgery over a year ago - and I have had a wonderful experience with Tallgrass and with Dr. Dunshee. Actually I haven't heard anything bad about any of the docs there as I know folks who had surgeries with the others, too. This has given me a new start on life - I feel so much better and have so much more energy!
