Which was worse getting the sleeve or having a c-section?
Not even close-C Section far worse. The sleeve really was a breeze, at least, thankfully for me! Good Luck!

Nervous about Mexico Surgery!!
That is the ONLY drawback to going to Mexico. This forum is a huge blessing to those of us who have had our surgery abroad. That and having a PCP who knew ahead of time and approved of the surgery and was willing to take on the aftercare. That should really be something that you clear up ahead of time. I have had absolutely no complications at all. 6 weeks out yesterday and really have never felt better in my life. I was totally freaked by the idea of Mexico but was the only way I could have the surgery due to a lower BMI. Ended up being the best decision of my life. Good Luck to you but as everyone else will tell you, hundreds if not thousands of people do this and very successfully!

Mexico vs. USA
Not having to attend classes and being able to call up and get an appointment are some of the perks but also the downsides to having surgery in Mexico. I loved getting it done on my terms but sometimes regret having very little followup and direction. That is why I like the online forums so much. They are my classes and instruction. I am only 2 weeks out but so far very smooth sailing. I had surgery with dr. verboonen in Cancun. Good Luck, Dawn

Two and a Half Weeks Out and I Miss My Friend!
I am almost the same time frame as you-7/16 and I have been feeling like this for several days in addition to being in a "stall"! I know it is early in the game and I am sure probably everyone goes through it but it is hard. Thanks for posting your struggles and I hope we both will get over mourning our "friend". I also seem really bored as I realized how much of my time was spent eating. Eventually all of my energy will return and I will find more productive ways to spend my days but that has been really the worst part of my journey. I feel so restless, anyone else feel that way?

July Surgeries
I have arrived in Cancun a couple of days early for my surgery on Friday with Dr. Verboonen. It is getting easier watching my husband eat the all you can eat buffet breakfast and enjoy all the yummy mexican food. The preop diet has gone much easier than I could have ever imagined, I think it is due to the fact that I am so excited to be this much closer to the surgery. There are 4 or 5 other people coming here for surgery this weekend. I can't wait to meet them. I will be saying prayers for all of the others getting sleeved this week and especially those who have a little bit to wait, I think the waiting was the hardest part! Of course, that is spoken from someone who hasn't had the surgery yet. I am going into it sort of expecting the worst pain, that way if it isn't bad I will be pleasantly surprised!

Who's sleeving in July?
My husband is very ok with the surgery in Cancun, my extended family and friends are freaking out. Me, I am just plain excited! I hate wishing life away, but I find myself doing that. My Preop starts on Sunday, only 5 days but is kind of puts the damper on Cancun. Oh well, it isn't a vacation, it is the start of my new life! Can't wait to hear how you come out! Dawn

Anyone use Dr. Sergio Verboonen???
Miss Lili- It is very hard to find many people on this site who have used dr. verboonen but I have come across 3 and they are all alive and seem really happy with the choice. I am scheduled for July 16 in Cancun. I am only a little bit nervous I think! My family is a bit wacky but my husband and kids seem good with it as they know how important it is to me. I have researched Galenia Hospital and Dr. Verboonen obsessively and they both seem great as far as I can tell. I am glad to be hooked up with someone in my shoes, although it sounds as though you haven't totally committed yet. I would love to keep you informed if you do decide to go for it and let you know step by step my experience. One of my wonderful new mentors has already told me to prepare for the coldness of the hospital so that was welcome news. Looking forward to "talking" with you on this journey- Dawn

July Surgeries
Gloria, It would be awesome if you could put me in touch with your friend, especially since she is from Ohio, a mid-westerner like me! There are not very many Dr. Verbooners on here but the ones that are have been wonderful. I can't wait until I can be one of the people who can answer questions from people like us who have no idea what to expect. Isn't this site just awesome? I hope that you are enjoying your holiday weekend and thanks again for thinking of me! Dawn

July 2010's NEW losers!
I also can not wait to get things moving. I love to read about everyone who has had their surgery and is doing well. I also can't wait until we are the ones posting about our "gas pains" and post op experiences. This site has become such an obsession for me but also such and encouraging place! It is like a new little family out there! I really enjoyed reading about the 2 girls who met each other on this site and are now walking together in their hospital in Mexico! How cool is that!:confused1:

July Surgeries
You are all in my prayers every time I go on and read a new post! I have crazy thoughts also like I hope my Doctor isn't hungover, etc. How can we not. We have not actually met these Doctors ourselves and we are putting our lives in their hands. I am going to Cancun with Dr. Verboonen on the 16th and though I am so excited to start my new life, I am also just a tad nervous as I am sure everyone is. I am just putting it all in God's hands and what will be will be. That and some positive thinking will see us all through!!!!! Dawn

Who's sleeving in July?
I am also July 16 but in Cancun with Dr. Verboonen. Getting more excited and a bit less nervous. Just wish it were over. It is so wonderful to "meet" others who will be walking the same road!
