I was just wondering about how long the entire process will take? My insurance doesn’t require a 6 month doctor supervised diet. When I called HMSA they said all I need was a BMI of 40 or above (mine is 43.3) and I need to be at least 100 lbs overweight. I’m about 128 lbs over. I’m really excited and super nervous at the same time. I was also wondering what kind of pre-op tests he requires and what his aftercare program is like? Mahalo, Malia

I'm wondering about the same thing. I just signed up for a Dr. Consultation on April 6th. I have HMSA insurance and my card says that its an independentr Licensee of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association...and its PPO. Does anyone know what kind of time fram I may be looking at until the surgery?

Hey everyone. My name is Malia and I'm 30 years old. I've been lurking here all day and was scared to post anything. However, the doctor's office called back this evening and I was able to schedule my consultation (with Dr. Cirangle) on Monday April 6th. Yay! I think that is a good start. I'm super excited and totally nervous at the same time. :ohmy: My insurance is HMSA (ppo) and the nice lady on the phone said that I qualify for Lap-Band Surgery. So I have coverage, but how many hoops am I going to have to jump through to get approval? Yikes! I think the waiting will be the hard part (for now). Anyhoo, I thought I would introduce myself and say hello. I look forward to being an active member in these forums.
