I am still looking for affordable Lap Band surgery in Arizona. I live in Buckeye, just west of Phoenix. I was quoted $18,000 from a clinic in Tempe. Not sure if my insurance will cover the procedure. I can't afford this and am totally depressed:frown: Visited my family doctor today and he mentioned Flagstaff Surgical Assoc., Dr. Robert Berger, M.D. Is anyone familar with him and the cost of the surgery?

I read a few people say that they went to Mexico to have the surgery done. I will have to pay at least $2,000 out of pocket for insurance preminum payment here in the U.S. and then you never know I may still be denied. I will have to see my doc for a year straight and jump though alot more hoops here than probably down there. Does anyone have any idea the cost to have it done in Mexico?

Hello All, My problem is a bit different than most people who post on this thread. I have my surgeon, Dr. David Provost in Denton, TX, but I think I need to see a psychologist that specializes in weight loss. A huge part of the problem is I live 300 miles away from my surgeon, so I don't think they will be able to recommend anyone. I have talked to a woman on a different Lap-Band forum that sees a weight loss psychologist, and she says it has really helped her. I live in Amarillo, TX. Does anyone know of a weight loss psychologist in my area? Joan

Overall, it has been a positive experience. His staff is very thorough and helpful. Early on, I had a feeling that by-pass was being "pushed" vs. the band. Now I look at it as being given all the info upon which to base MY decision. Wish the process could move faster, but appreciate the efforts in ensuring that my health and well-being comes first!

I highly recommend Dr. Erbella. He has been nothing but spectacular since I was banded. I have nothing negative to say about him and the people at his office.

Has any one been here? I am going for a consult on the 6/22 and I am doing a triple play since I am going to be coming from out of Town, I am seeing the Nurse, The Psych and the Surgeron all in one day. (Alana Chock) I am anxious and trying not to think to much ahead but it is so hard. They said that I shouldn't have a problem getting accepted as they rarely turn a patient away. I guess I need to quit reading all the post about denials and hope for the best!

I was banded on Jan 27, 2009 by Dr Gorman. He did a very good job for me- no complications and minimal scarring. He uses a topical numbing agent before fills that make filling a breeze. I am well pleased with my experience.

I had my band placed in October 2008 by Dr. Adam Glasgow. Dr. Glasgow and his staff have been unbelieveable since the first day I stepped in the office. They go above and beyond for their patients!! His father is also a surgeon in the office. I have seen both and both are outstanding and caring doctors!!

I am shopping around. I am currently with Hills Physicians--6 month doctor supervised diet, nutritional consult, and behavioral consult BEFORE you are even considered for surgery!!! :ohmy:What is this purpose??? So, I am interested in finding out what Sutter medical Group requires. Finding out from them has proven futile as I'm not a member. :sad:Any one had experience with them? What hoops did you have to jump through??

I have researched a couple of weight loss institutes and am very interested in DePaul Hospitals weight loss clinic in St. Louis Mo. I would love to hear some feedback from any of thier patients. anything from consultation, hospital stay to fill appts. I have read on this site that they offer one incision site vs. 5-6 incisions. I have also learned that the fills are done in the radiology dept under fluoroscopy not sure what that means. I am waiting to attend an educational seminar on June 10th with Dr DelaTorre. I have United Healthcare Insurance I read that thier pretty good about covering and authorizing this surgery. I hope I don't have to try an alternative weight los…

Hi. I'm familiar with some of the other Atl are docs people have mentioned on here. I'm scheduled for sugery on 2/25 with Dr. Hobson at Peachtree Surgical & Bariatrics and it concerns me that I can't find any mention of that group on here. Anyone familiar? I hate to even ask... This whole thing reminds me of when I was pregnant and would get on the chat rooms and then get freaked out because one person would say something to make me second guess myself or my doctor =) The whole love/hate thing with these sorts of forums, right? So if you have any experience with this group, I'd love to hear it. Just please don't tell me anything negative unless you know it for a fact …

Hi Folks. I'm new to the board and planning on having the Inamed lap band done in Mexico since my insurance company considers it experimental. Andres Bettancourt is the patient coordinator - I've seen his name mentioned here in prior posts - but no information about this clinic or the doctor who performs the surgery - Dr. Huacuz. Any information would be very much appreciated.

Have had my band for about a year and a half. Dr. Milton Owens was the surgeon in Rancho Cucamonga. I had occasion to be up in Reno, NV over the Easter holiday and I ran into trouble. I could not keep food or fluids down for 2 days. I finally went to St. Mary's in Reno to get the band fluid removed as I was in much discomfort. I could not even swallow saliva and was spitting up coffee ground colored material. St. Mary's is associated with a bariatric group that does surgeries there. The doctor refused to come in and remove the fluid from the band. It was on Saturday and he was on call, but he did not want to come in. The ER doctor did not want to touch it as he was not fa…

Im a little perplexed right now. Im 20 months now post op, and feel that my results are minimal... I have been filled and unfilled numerous times, and as time progresses and lapband becomes more popular, I feel like Im taking a back seat to my doc and his associates. The personal attention is diminishing as their practice grows and they take on more patients. I was unfilled for 2 months after an ulcer was discovered, only after i complained for about 6months. In those 2 months I gained about 20lbs. I now only have 2cc's in a 10cc band. I feel as if I have no restriction, and they are reluctant to put anymore fluid in. I was told when the ulcer was found that there may…

What a wonderful doctor. He is a partner of Dr. Virgina McGrath-Weaver (who is also wonderful but totally booked for months and months). He did a fabulous job on surgery day spoke to me two times post op and my DH twice. He is very professional and is super nice too. He was very good at explaining things to my DH and myself and was impressed with my knowledge of the procedure (thanks lapbandtalk.com and people on here!). He even "reused" two of my gallbladder surgery scars and they look better at two weeks post surgery than they did one year after my gall bladder removal. I will know more about his fill technique and how agressive (or not) he is with fills on Dec. …

I am scheduled to be banded last week of April and was wondering if anyone else has any feedback on Cincinnati Weightloss. Dr and staff seem very nice and personable but I would like to hear from anyone who has used them regarding their personal experience. I was impressed with the fact that most people who work in that office have been banded by the doctor there.

I had a Midband inplanted on June 1, 2004 at St. Luke's Hospital in Manila, Philipines. I was very please with the hospital and care. I had a stroke last year and went to a very well know facility in the mainland USA. I would say to my surprise the hospital in the Philipines was better. My room had a TV, VCR, Fax, Highspeed internet, Computer, refrigerator, Microwave, living room. It was great. The nursing staff and doctors in the team were great. The hospital is highly rated and U.S. certified with more equipment than 95% percent of U.S hospitals. My doctor is a fellow in the American College of Surgeons and a member in the American Bariatric Society. His name is Dr. Hil…

Happy New Year to all!!! Just taking a little time to help provide some information to those who are interested in having the LAP-BAND surgery performed overseas, like in the Philippines. Filipino LAP-BAND surgeons are trained by INAMED surgeons like Prof. Paul O'Brien, Dr. Richard Gilhome and Dr. Chris Hensman of Australia and one of your favorites, Dr. Ariel Ortiz Lagardere. The most popular LAGB in the Philippines is still the LAP-BAND, both the 10cm band and the VG. A few surgeons have tried experimenting with the Swedish band and are now having problems with erosion. The Midband has been out of the market for some time. The BIB System is also gaining popularity in…

Hi folks, I have a lap band that was placed in August 2008. It's been great but I recently started to gain weight and found out two weeks ago that I had inflamation and possibly a minor slip. My doctor is about two hours away and is no longer covered by my insurance. So I ended up seeing Dr. Billings at Puget Sound Surgical today. He says I could replace my band with a larger band (which seems to have less issues with slippage) or revise to a sleeve but that my surgery looks well done and I could probably do just fine with the band I have. He suggested starting with their year long aftercare program. I'm going to have an endoscopy on Friday just to make sure everything …

My endoscoptomy is scheduled for Friday and my Pre Op will be scheduled right after but i have not been approved for the surgery yet. Is that the normal process? Please help!!!
