I was banded on July 8th, 2008 at the age of 36 years and 8 months old. I am hoping to lose about 150 lbs. My band was replaced on April 3rd, 2009, because it was leaking. I was 37 years and 5 months old. I have currently lost 60 lbs and hope to lose about 100 more.
  2. I have this strange pain around my right kidney. I know I currently have a kidney or bladder infection and I was assuming my pain was from that. But, it only hurts when I eat. Anyone else had this or heard of it? (I had my last fill last Thursday, April 15th adn the pain started the following Tuesday.) Thanks!
  3. Man how I love potato chips! Sour Cream & Onion potato chips to be exact!!! But now, they really hurt me. Even if I only eat, say, 5 chips. What is with that!!?? Anyone else have this problem? I know, I'm not supposed to eat potato chips, but I figure, if I only eat a few, what could it hurt? But oh does it hurt! What do you guys think?
  4. Has anyone heard of a band leaking? Something is up with mine. I have had 5 fills and I feel the restriction while in the office but immediately after I feel nothing. I am able to eat MUCH more than I should. There were questions the first couple of fills as to whether or not he hit the port, so we thought maybe that was the problem. But the last 2 fills I am 100% sure he hit it but I still have zero restriction. I asked him if it could be leaking and he said maybe. I go back next week for a Fluor fill, so we should know at that time what is going on. I am wondering how common this is and if insurance will pay anything to have it replaced.
  5. I hit this same mark about a week ago. YEA for us!!!!!!!! Unfortunately, it hasn't gone any lower in a weeks time. My weight is coming off v e r y s l o w l y.
  6. I appreciate the advice. But, I have no willpower. I don't eat the best foods like I should. I NEED the band to stop me. If I could do it on my own I wouldn't have had surgery. I know I have to work harder and I am trying. I am just really looking forward to the restriction kicking in like I know it should be. I am hopeful after all of the replies that it WILL happen. Thanks!
  7. Fluro sounds wonderful! My Dr. always has trouble finding my port and then I am sore for days after.
  8. He says he is taking out what he can but isn't sure he is getting it all.
  9. I have had 3 fills now and I have no feeling of restriction! I was banded 14 weeks ago and have lost right at 40 lbs, that is slow right? I can pretty much eat as much as I want, I just don't. There have only been 2 times that I felt like I couldn't eat another bite, that my chest was feeling tight. Every time I get a fill and drink the water after, I feel like it is going down slower than before, it seems to gurgle and the doctor says that is good. But then when I get home and drink it is like nothing has changed. And when I start on mushies or solids again there is no restriction. My doctor doesn't seem concerned. But I am very frustrated.:frown: I can just imagine how the weight would be falling off if I wasn't able to eat as much. Can anyone relate? What do you all think? I need some feedback please. Thanks!
  10. What is a Fluro fill? I have heard of it but am grey on how it is done. Thanks!
  11. I really like Dr. Dewitt, he is very nice and personable. I have had a good experience so far. (Sorry this reply is so late.)
  12. 10 DAY OF CLEAR LIQUIDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ouch!!! I was only on 2 days of clear liquids and it was bad enough. Honestly, the crap you have to drink the day before surgery will clean out ANYTHING you have eaten. Good luck, it WILL be worth it. I will pray for you.
  13. I am feeling fine. The gas was pretty bad for me too! It made my shoulder hurt terribly. I thought I would never get rid of it all.
  14. Dr. Andrew Dewitt at Carraway Medical Center banded me on July 8th 2008. I had my first follow up visit with him yesterday (08-07-08). He filled me with 4 ccs. Anyone else use/planning to use Dr. Dewitt?
  15. I had my 1st fill today, 4 ccs. Didn't hurt but I know I will be sore tomorrow due to all of the poking and pushing the Dr. did to find the right spot. I never felt any restriction when drinking, but he felt like he got it in the right place, so I guess we'll see. My fill site bled a good bit but it is fine now. Dustie
