October 17, 200817 yr What is a Fluro fill? I have heard of it but am grey on how it is done. Thanks!
October 17, 200817 yr I just had one done 4 days ago. They just use a special xray machine to be able to fill your band as they watch you drink barium. You can watch the barium travel down your esophagus thru the band and tell how much restriction there is. Better this way. Less of a guessing game. Good luck
October 17, 200817 yr I have had both and much prefer the Fluro Fill! I've had only two fills since my surgery Aug.18th. My first fill, was with a Fluro fill / xray machine. The doc poked once, put in the fill and that was that! My second fill was this week without being a Fluro xray machine. The doc. had a difficult time finding the opening to my port. On at least the 10th poke (no kidding) he was able to give me a fill. Because of the anesthetic, it really was not painful, honestly, just uncomfortable knowing he was having a difficult time. I would not make a decision to NOT go to a doc. without the Fluro machine. It was interesting seeing the band working with the Fluro machine.
October 18, 200817 yr Author Fluro sounds wonderful! My Dr. always has trouble finding my port and then I am sore for days after.
October 18, 200817 yr My doc does the fluro fill too, I just had my 1st fill on 10-02-08. I strongly believe in the technology in theory, but I must say that I had no restriction before or after the fill. I am very discouraged right now. The only weight I have lost is when I was on straight liquids. My doc charges $450 for a fill so I can't afford to do lots of trial and error. His package price was $9999 including 2 fills. He only put in 1.2cc the 1st time. I hope to talk to him about this next week. I feel he is being too conservative. I don't feel any different than before I was banded. I realize it is only a tool but I NEED the tool. Do any of you convince your doc to add more, give you what YOU want instead of what they want? Please share. Thanks, Barbara
