Hi! My name is Angie and I am a newby. I have a group consult scheduled for Oct. 4th with Dr. Christopher Evanson in Indianapolis, Indiana. I have been so excited about having lap band done! While speaking to the office manager for Dr. Evanson this morning she told me that he normally won't do a Lap Band on someone with a BMI higher then 35. My BMI is 49. I am 5' 4' at 290 lbs and I am 38 yrs old. I was crushed! I am terrified of gastric bypass and not interested in the slightest bit! I asked her why he had this rule. She said it was because people didnt lose as fast with the Lap Band and people with higher BMI's often get frustrated and end up wanting the gastric bypa…

hello, (im new) thinking about getting banded in Mexico and considering Dr.Aceves.i have read and researched only great things about him.i have read things here on this site but,only from awhile back. i just would like to hear more of peoples experiences before i go ahead.has anyone been to him recently?..how was it there?..how was the after care?..was there alot of pain with your surgery?..any input would be great..........thanx so much!!

I had my surgery done through Dr. Wilfred Aguilia, and he is amazing!! First of he owns his own practice called Surgical Bariatric Centers. He does his surgeries through Memorial Hospital in Tampa, Fl. I cannot say enought good things about Dr. Aguilia. I am self pay and there is no way I could have afforded the surgery if it were not for him. He charges 15,200 for the surgery and that includes fills for the first year, 3 personel training sessions, a dietician, and psychologist. I called and they told me i first had to register on line with them and that they would call me back to set up an appointment. It's been a week and a half and still no call. I tried calling them back but they told me that it takes time and that they would call me? I'm just wondering if any one has gone threw him before and if you had to go threw this process too? I'm considering the lapband (this is my 1st thread). My insurance is Cigna and the only dr in NJ that is in network is Dr. Garrison of Florham Park. Has anyone had the procedure by him? Can anyone give me any opinion on him. I've heard of 2 other dr's in the area that would be out of network, yet people were VERY happy with, so I would prefer to go with a good referral than my insurance (we all know how they can be). Well I went to the Dietition Thursday and they are going to turn my paperwork into Tricare Prime this coming week. I sure hope everything goes okay with it. Only thing is the doctor I am using is booked thru April. I'm so worry about Tricare because of everything I have read on this web site.:thumbdown:

Hi there, I have begun the search for a lap band surgeon and noticed on the boards that not many replies are given about doctors in florida. I was wondering if floridians are going out of state or is there just not as many people here getting banded. I live close to Jupiter florida with Dr, Jeffery Vaughn. If anyone has any advide or help referring doctors in South Florida I would greatly appricate it. Our insurance doesn't cover it so I am going to have to find some kind of financing. Hello All, I just got approved by insurance!!!! YEAH! It only took a year and a bunch of tests and red tape, but I did it. However, I did have to switch surgeons due to my insurance company. Has anyone used Dr Selim from Weight loss surgical center Or Kansas University? I have to use him and Kansas University for my surgery. I am currently on medicaid awaiting an answer as to whether or not I am going to get disability. I am 27 yrs old. I am married and I have a 10 yr old daughter. I currently weigh 379 lbs and I am 5"0" . I have been diagnosed with morbid obesity, CHF , sleep apnea , gall bladder disease, and I am on 3 liters of oxygen. I am currently under the care of the care of my primary care physician and he suggested the lap band precedure for long term weight loss... I feel that without this surgery I will be cheated out of a normal life .. I am desperate .. please help....

I just arrived home last night after having surgery in Tijuana Mexico performed by Dr. Pedro Kuri at Hospital Angeles. I have to say this was top notch care. Hospital Angeles was very clean and felt more like a hotel then a hospital. Even while there the hospital had staff constantly cleaning. The hospital staff was all very nice, polite, and very tentive to my needs. Most of the staff didn't speak very much english but that was ok because there usually was another staff person around that could translate. Dr. Kuri was exceptional. I have to share my surgery experience, it was more then I would have ever expected!! I was banded on Saturday the 27th by Dr. Alberto Aceves in Mexicali. The original thought of having surgery in Mexico scared the he11 out of me!! But the more I read about possible complications with the band AND me being a self pay, I decided a little more research may be needed. Hello, I'm from Dallas Texas and i've been doing reasearch on where to get banded? I've looked into lapband solutions but my insurance turned me down so now i have to slef pay and there really expensive. I've been looking at TLC Edge since there cheaper but is it really how they say "You pay for what you get for"? Has any one in this area been banded? If so where and how was your experience? I would really appreaciate any information.

Hi....I'm in Parkersburg WV and according to everything I've read,I qualify for Lap Band surgery...Problem is 2 years ago I was hit by a limo,and have been on disablitity ever since. So that of course means I have WV Medicaid...Now I desperately need this surgery...I have Asthma,herniated discs,swelling of the legs,and losing weight would improve my quality of life 10 fold.
