Well I had my pre op appointment today. My surgery is Monday, April 23rd. I am down 13 pounds. I was so happy. I didn't think I had lost that much. I think the nurse was more excited than me. Lol. The big day is 4days away. I'm so excited and nervous. I know that's normal and I will be fine. The nurse told me when I go home if I have any questions don't hesitate to call. She said no question is a stupid question. That made me feel so good.

Hi, my fellow losers! I can't believe that tomorrow, the 19th of April will be my 1 year anniversary of the sleeve! Last year at exactly this time, I was a mess, worrying about everything that had to do with this surgery. I was getting my band taken out as well, and I was petrified. I prayed that everything would be O.K., just as all of you did. This was my last chance and I was so afraid that it wouldn't work. The one thing that I could hold on to was this site. Thank God for all of you. You said what I needed to hear, and I hope that during this year, I helped some others with their fears and frustrations. I won't hit my goal weight, but that's ok. I am thrilled …

Hi all, I did really well for my first 5 months or so.. then I had a "too tight fill", and they took some out. Now, I cant seem to lose wieght. I dont feel like I am eating too much - maybe not making the wisest choices.. Does anyone have any suggestions about what I can be eating on a daily basis to be more successful??

  5. curious on what was the biggest obstacle to overcome after surgery, was it exercising regularly, not drinking soda, protein shakes, or something else

  7. So, I'm new here and really encouraged and excited by all of the people in this amazing community! I've recently just started my pre-surgery diet and it's probably one of THE hardest things I've ever done. Here's the low-down on me -- I'm 24, recently married, living in Washington state and I'm currently at the heaviest I've ever been at 511.5 lbs. It's an awful number that scares the beejeebers outta me, but I'm learning to say it out loud as a serious reminder of why I'm choosing LapBand. So, I'm seriously struggling with this 60-day diet. Basically, because I am so overweight my surgeon has required me to do an extensive pre-surgery diet. I am supposed to do 3-4 of the…

Hi Everyone, I have been reading through the forum for a few weeks but decided today was the day to say hi. I am 23 and I am a few months into this journey. I've already had my initial consultation with the surgeon and have started scheduling appointments with the nutritionist and psychologist. From all that I've been reading, you all are such a helpful group of people and I am looking forward to all of your support and to be a support to someone as well. Thanks in advance for everything.

to all "seasoned sleevers" please speak to me and others about being sleeved the 1rst year mark and maybe into the 2nd....year. would like to know if the sleeve is still assisting you. Obviously, you need to be eating properly, and drinking. I've known since I was a "baby" sleever in diapers that the sleeve is only a tool. I fully get that. now that you have passed "childhood" and have made it to "adulthood" how goes it. I'm sure you can eat more, very carefully - how does the sleeve help you now? thanx kathy ps i know this has been asked before, please refresh my memory.

I had my lap band inserted on April 9th and I'm feeling good; a little tired and a little slow but that's getting better. My journey began in September 2011. After my initial consult I realized that I needed time to commit to the changes I knew had to be made if I was going to be successful with the band. I had a lot going on in the last quarter of 2011 so I decided to put the lap band on hold until things settled down. On January 12th I went back to the surgeon's office and began the process. My insurance company did not require much preparation so I was able to get banded a little less than 3 months following this visit. I am so happy to have found a place to learn ab…

Hi Everyone... Just wanted to say that my surgery went great on Monday. I am so impressed with Dr. Ortiz and Obesity Control Center in Tijuana. I had no nausea, no gas and very little discomfort. Yesterday I relaxed by the pool and got a little sun. Today I went shopping with my mother for about 3 hours and all went well. I have been trying to get as much Fluid as I can but honestly, its hard to get anymore than about 4-5oz's down at a time. So, I am just sipping, sipping, SIPPING!!!! LOL It's funny though cause every time I sip it feels like my stomach is talking back to me with the gurgling noises. So, I just say "your welcome" LOL Anyway.... Thank you for your praye…

After reading many websites, I realized that I could use a little (or a lot) of support. This site is just what I need. My surgery is scheduled for 9/13. I am on day 7 of a 14 day preop liquid diet. It is very difficult. I completely understand why the diet is needed but if I could stick to liquids only for 14 days, would I really need to have my body operated on? Why can't I use this same will power and lose the weight the traditional way? I know why. I know myself. That might work for a few weeks but I would break. My binges are small ones either. In the last year, I have regained about 60 lbs. that I had lost during dating a man that wanted 'perfection'. When t…

I had my gastric bypass on March 22nd. The surgeons and other people say I should be re-introducing soft foods into my system. Some days I can eat pudding Jello yogurt....and some days even broiled/grilled chicken. However for like 2-3 days I haven't been able to eat anything. I'm barely even drinking Water. I force myself to so as not to become dehydrated. Before the surgery, I was on a partial liquid diet and I drank glucose controlled Boost and Glucerna shakes. Do y'all think it would be ok for me to resume drinking them just to get some type of nutrients in my system? Even the Protein shakes come back up sometimes and the water based ones are just gross. I had my Lap band fitted on Saturday 14th of April 2012 with the hospital group. It has been 4 days now and I am getting better by the day but, still find it hard to get up and down off of chairs and in and out of bed. I am still quite swollen in my port area and I am still getting some pain. I'm also struggling to drink as much fluid as advised and I don't normally find it hard to drink? As I'm new to this I would just like to know if this is normal and how long this will last?

I had an upper g.i exam and was told nothing was stuck in my throat.....HOWEVER there appeared to be a "tightness" (whatever that means) So now I have to get an endoscopy and have a balloon inserted to expand the passageway or the pouch opening .
