Hi everyone, I'm a little late in getting on here, I have my sleeve in 2 days, June 26. I have enjoyed reading everyone's posts, but have felt that at times it was a little overwhelming. Do anyone of you understand where I'm coming from? I have an awesome doctor and team so I have been well educated in every area. I am excited and a little afraid mostly of how I will feel immediately after surgery. I hope I don't wake up with nausea . I have had a great experience kin the past 3 months. Lots of appointments since early April, but things went like clock work. I was approved within one week of my paperwork being sent in . I feel terrible for those that have to wai…

Hi, everyone! I had my VSG on June 6th, and so far, so good! I'm in DC, and had it done by Dr. Daniel Tran at Howard University Hospital. He, and the rest of the staff were absolutely stellar, so if anyone on here is having surgery coming up with them, you're in good hands. I haven't had any side effects like the nausea and GERD everyone promised, although I definitely overdid it with straining myself, because my lowest belly stitch is very painful inside me. You feel so 'okay' afterwards that you forget you've had surgery! I'm so happy that I'm off the liquids and onto the pureed now...two weeks before and two weeks after was too much. I ate a cottage cheese as …

But I have been gaining since I started. I have been diligent on my protein but Im worried im not going to lose weight again. I also started and quit today drinking diet soda. I tried it two weeks ago and when i didnt get sick or uncomfortable I kept at it. Has anyone had feelings of falling off the wagon 5 mths out. Any encouragement wld be greatly appreciated.

Hubby and I went to Vancouver for my information seminar. It lasted a little over 2 hours but it was very informative about all three types of surgery. Cathy said that right now the doctors have been doing more "sleeves" than bands because the weight loss is faster. It is a toss up as to which I would choose but sometimes fast isn't always the best. Next step is to send in my insurance paperwork and find out if it will be covered. I have a very sick feeling that we have a no exception clause in our contract with Premera and they won't even consider it. I'm not going to get my hopes up because I don't want to be disappointed. Like all things it is in God's hands and if t…

Hi everybody. I have been reading this forum for days and days so I thought I would finally write something. I am in the stages of getting a surgery date. I have to have an upper endoscopy on 6-3-2012. After that then they will submit everything to my insurance. Then I'll just have to wait for their approval. I was diagnosed as a pre-diabetic in May so I have cut out all caffeine, all soda's, and all sweets. I am happy to report that I have already lost 15 pounds!! Greetings, My name is Veronica aka Chubarella. I'm 39, married with no kids. I live in South Texas and I work as a telephone operator at a hospital. I currently weigh 310.2 pounds. My highest was in 2008 at 363 pounds. I have known for many years that I wanted weight loss surgery. The gastric bypass was still new to me, so I was scared and never looked into it. By my mid 20s I would have liked to have done the gastric bypass but I couldn't afford it. Into my 30s, I decided to try the Atkins diet and I was able to lose 70 pounds, but once the holidays rolled around, there goes that lost weight. Fortunately, I've been able to keep half of that lost weight off. T…

I am hoping to meet people on here from all over. I was born and raised in Texas but moved to colorado in 2006, I want to meet others that can relate and well just be there for one another. Hope to talk with some people and hope all is well

I have always been riculed about my weight. I finally decided to do the ultimate. I have been to the seminar and after talking with friends who have had bypass I have decided to go that route. I will see the surgeon on July 3 and will get the ball rolling. I know I qualify but I am still nervous. My family will support me but my husband does not want me to do this. I just need some positive support.

One of my incisions (the left side and the largest incision where the most work was done) is now red and swollen around it. Granted my boyfriend ended up leaning on my stomach around there with his elbow a few days ago, but I'm terrified that's unrelated and something terrible is happening and I'll have to go back into surgery. I'm 11 days out and the area is swollen, red and warm and hurts (also sensitive to touch) and I've had a low grade fever on and off for 3 days - Kaylee Ann

Ok so I got the call today and my preop is in the morning. My surgery is scheduled and a time is set and I'm a nervous wreck all the sudden. I've waited so long and now its almost here and I'm Freaking out. Has anyone else been this way? I was all calm and collected. I've quit smoking...off caffeine...doing this crazy diet. All to get healthy and have this surgery. Now I feel nervous and sick. I've had other laparoscopic surgeries and did fine. This one I'm thinking what if my liver isn't shrinking...what if something changes. I guess I am just having some crazy thoughts right now.

Hi everyone! I just got my band on Monday 6/18/12 but I already went through a bad experience. On Tuesday, I felt that I was going to die because I had a bad chest pain and then started vomitting. I vomitted all day Tuesday so called Dr and was told to go back for a check up. Well the problem was that the band was too small and completely shut so I had to go through surgery on Wed 6/20/12 again to get a larger band. I do feel much better but now I feel as if it is not tight enough because I don't feel full. Is that normal?

Which dont get me wrong I think is fantastic (I could never have done that on my own) My question to other banders is does this seem a fair amount to loose in 4 1/2 months ??? I do understand everybody looses weight at different rates but I just didnt want to be too impatient but then dont want to get annoyed either as its coming off and I never gain. Just looking for someone's advice with a little more experience of the band than I have. Claire

Hi. I am a married 33 year old woman. I had my surgery on June 11 in Chicago. Everything is finally starting to go well. I had serious heartburn after eating anything until today. :-) I have been overweight since I was 8. I was able to significantly loose weight two times by practically starving myself and excessive exercise. Even with the major weight losses, I was unable to get under 200 pounds. My doctor kept pushing Weight Watchers, but I was too ashamed to be weighed in public. She had lost weight by going, but even she ended up gaining the weight back. I am still following what I'm supposed to, eating healthy, exercising. I work 4-10s and on my feet 95% of the time. I've seen my surgeon last month and said that it really varies from person to person...I only want to loose about 30 more pounds but with the pace that I am going, it seems like it'll take me forever!!! I haven't really been to my support group because I am just frustrated/ disgusted way beyond belief. Some people that had this done, don't even exercise nor eat healthy and they still loose the weight! So are there people out here…

  49. I was banded on 5/21. I did a 10 day "liquid" diet prior, but actually it allowed fruit and cottage cheese, so I didn't suffer too much. Between my 10 day prior diet and the week after, I lost 16lbs. It seems like I've leveled out, but I'm struggling with a lot of mental battles. For context, I lost 25 lbs before surgery on my own across 4 months. I needed to know I could do it and I made a lot of small lifestyle changes. The dietician visits helped more than I expected to show me what I was doing wrong (I was mostlyl on track, but my portion sizes were out of control.)
