I found this recipe on Pinterest a while but just tried it tonight. http://peaceloveandl...ml#.USQS_mfheSq I've made a few recipes from her blog. I don't think she's a WLS patient, just a low carber. This was very good! The only change I made was using skim milk instead of heavy cream (thought I had some but I didn't). I thought about adding some turkey bacon or chicken but it proved to be plenty with just the ham. I could only eat half. This is what I got in MFP. But, be warned, I estimate quantities a lot when I cook. I thought some of you might enjoy! (I'm a novice in the kitchen and kinda lazy but I didn't find this too challenging.)

Made these the other night and they were yummy! They aren't very sweet though so if you want a little more sweetness add some Splenda or even some honey or agave. The calorie info for these is without any of that though. Going to add some dries cranberries in next time! 1 banana (mashed up so it's smooth) 1/2 cup whole oats 1/2 scoop of vanilla Protein powder (could use more but didn't want an over powering whey taste) 1 egg white Mix the banana, protein and egg white together. Add the oatmeal and combine. Drop Cookies on a greased cookie sheet and bake at 350 for 15 or so minutes until light brown. They don't have a cookie texture per say but are a great snack if …

For all of you who are able to eat salads....I just made italian dressing tonight and I substituted out a portion of the oil for a cornstarch and Water mixture. Here's what I did: Mix 2T cornstarch with 1/2 cup water. Heat until boiling and thickened. After heating add more cold water as necessary to make a consistency slightly thicker than oil. refrigerate to cool. While your cornstarch mixture is cooling, mix together 1T garlic powder, 1T onion powder, 1/4t pepper, 1t sea salt, 1 heaping T oregano, 1T basil, green pepper or "veggie" flakes if you have them. 1/2 t of sugar (optional) put 1/4 cup of olive oil, 2T apple cider vinegar, the juice of 1/2 a lemon or li…

Is anyone else munching on these as much as me? So delicious/nutritious and completely cures all oily fatty salty craving I have! My personal recipe is: • 1 bunch kale • 1 tablespoon coconut oil • sea salt • grated asiago cheese - Preheat oven to 300° - Take apart the kale by separating it from the large stems and breaking it in to bite size pieces - Toss in large bowl with melted coconut oil until evenly coated - Spread out on to cookie sheet (you'll most likely need 2) and sprinkle with sea salt to taste and asiago cheese - Place in oven for 20 minutes or until extremely crisp and slightly browned. I always have to take the crispy ones out and put some back i…

First of all, let me say that I know that popcorn is a slider food and has carbs. I know that you should not be eating it early out because the hulls could get stuck in your suture. I am almost 2 years post op and I love popcorn and eat it in moderation. I have found a way (with some research and experimenting) to make a sweet and salty popcorn with no added fat or sugar. It is the paper bag in the microwave method. It is not glazed like kettle corn, but it still tastes yummy! Warning though, lots of the popcorn seeds do not pop, so I put a little extra in. 1/4 cup popcorn kernels (I use white popcorn) 1 tsp of Torani Syrup (I use vanilla, and I have tried brown …

I saw the Taco Soup recipe! That sounds sooo good, but I'm looking for more. Does anyone know how to cook up some mean tofu?? I've never made tofu before, but would love to learn how and make it good! I like to use Boca crumbles and Morningstar bacon. I plan to go to Whole Foods to see what other meat alternatives would be RNY-friendly. I also need recipes that my 2 1/2-year might eat. She's sooo picky--worse than me! LOL

I had a bite of my daughter's ice cream. It was so sickening sweet that i had to get a drink of Water. I went home and made some SF Protein ice cream (Lemon Meringue flavor). It called for sugar free lemon Cookies. I went to three stores trying to find SF baked goods. There was maybe one SF pie on the shelf. I ended up making my own cookies too! I just adapted my lemon shortbread recipe to be healthier. It's not lowfat by any means, but it's whole grain and sugar free. I didn't have whole grain flour so I had to use Trader Joes whole grain baking mix. It still worked, but was a little more salty that I would have liked. Here's the recipe if you want to try them. !…

Okay so when i was browsing around on pinterest i came across this recipe for a bread substitute. I made it last night and i must say I thought it was delicious. Whats even better is I am doing lilmissdiva's boot camp this week and I can eat this because it is only made with eggs cream of tartar and cream cheese ( or cottage cheese). It is delicious and very very easy to make! I was craving something sweet last night so I took a half of one and put some sugar free syrup on it. It literally tasted like a pancake! If you are missing bread and dont want to eat all of the carbs, this is a perfect substitute. best part of it is that it is extra protein! I used fat free cr…

Poke (pronounced Poh-Kay) salad is an absolute favorite of mine, but I didn't even know about it until about a year ago. I frequently ate this pre-op, but considering how great it is post-op (I couldn't get my daily Protein in until I added sashimi), hopefully sashimi lovers out there will enjoy it as well. For now I'm omitting a few ingredients (not yet on my OK foods list) but it's still awesomeness. 1/2 lb Maguro (or preferred type) tuna sashimi, cubed into 1/2" bites 1-2 stalks of green onions, chopped (not the onion part, just the green tops) 1.5 tbls of soy sauce 1 tbl of sesame seed oil 1/4 tsp chili oil 1/8 C purple laver (purple seaweed, can alsu use wa…

When I went for my 9 months check up, my cholesterol had risen to 233. It certainly wasn't from what I was eating, it is because of my heredity. So I read up on the things you could eat to help lower cholesterol - in contrast with getting back on statin drugs. I ate oatmeal every morning for 90 days, added flax seed and fish oil to my diet, and take cinamon and red rice yeast supplements every morning (pills). At the 12 month checkup, my cholesterol had dropped by 41 points to 192! The "good" cholesterol level had stayed the same, the deficit all came from the "bad" cholesterol. I was eating the Bariatric Choice high Protein oatmeal, fixed with Water in the microwave.…

My husband and I are both sleeved and we spend a TON of money on greek yogurt. My fridge is always full of cups of Chobani and Fage. About a week ago I discovered that you can make yogurt at home, so last night I did! And it turned out PERFECT. You don't need any special equipment or machines. I used our dutch oven, but any heavy bottomed pot will do. The directions look long, but it pretty much makes itself once you've warmed up the milk. It is the definition of something that a lazy non-cook can make. I got the recipe from this website. http://www.happysimpleliving.com/2011/03/06/make-your-own-homemade-greek-yogurt/ STUFF YOU NEED: 1/2 gallon of dairy milk (I used…

I subscribe to a local food co-op so every two weeks I get a bag of fresh veggies delivered to my door. This week's box had some fresh yellow squash but other than sautee it, I had no idea how to prepare. Since I am on mushies I started looking for a casserole that had a lot of flavor. This is what I found: 2 lbs of squash (could mix with zucchini if you like) 1 medium onion 1 can cream of mushroom soup 2 eggs 2 cups of cheddar cheese 1 cup seasoned bread crumbs Here is where I made some changes... 1 - Slice the squash and onion either steam or boil or sautee until soft. I chose to steam the squash in my microwave steamer until it was soft. I didn't have an…
