I've been working out fr a while in my t-shirt and sweatpants. I feel like I finally need to buy some serious workout clothes. Sorry this might be TMI - I can't stand the jiggling and slapping sounds my loose skin makes while I am jumping around. I feel like I need something to hold it all in. Any suggestions what you wear while you are working out? and where to get them?

Has anyone practiced Bikram post surgery? If so, how soon after? I started practicing Bikram in October and I've come to enjoy and crave it, for mental and physical reasons. I would like to make it part of my post surgery workout routine. My concern is it's very important to stay hydrated before, during, and after class. Doing 26 postures in a room for 90 minutes at 105 degrees with 50 % humidity can take a lot out of you. Water is essential. I'm worried that it will be awhile before I'm able to consume as much water as I currently do to prepare for class.

I ordered this DVD because I really like Leslie Sansone's Walk at Home DVDs and was looking for other indoor walking videos. This video is led by Debra Mazda, a very feisty lady with an inspiring story. At her heaviest she weighed over 300 lbs, and she lost 140 lbs. on her own over 3 years and now maintains as a size 12 (and has for many years -- however, the picture of her on the cover of the DVD I think is a bit misleading -- she looks much heavier on the cover picture than she does in the DVD). Her video cast is all plus size women (the smallest is a size 14, ranging up to a size 18 or 20), so to me that was cool (usually in exercise DVDs the cast members are very f…

I even broke a sweat! lol I am going to do it every day that I can not get out or on the days that I do not do the workouts on the Wii Fit. Anyone else use the Wii? Hi everyone, I'm back on the board after a long hiatus. I forgot how great everyone here is! Any Crossfitters here on the board? I find it's changing my life just as much as getting the sleeve. If anyone wants to gush about their PRs,, commiserate about WODs, or how it feels to be in the presence of hardcore athletes and know that you belong here too, chime in!

I began doing Kenpo for an hour every other day and it is so fun and such a great cardio exercise !! An hour workout flew by so fast it felt like 15 or 20 minutes. Kenpo is a form of Karate that is more like boxing and kickboxing.

How do you find an exerise that you can enjoy and stick to? I'm so confused I know I need to exercise but I just can't seem to find a starting point. I'm almost 4 months out and have lost 52 pounds without exercise nut I know the key to up my loss and maintain once I reach it is exercise! I work all day have kids activities in the evening I know that's no excuse I wasted 1800.00 on a personal trainer in 2010 before my surgery only to loss 26 pounds them gain it bad and more! I have several friends and family that live within miles of me but no one seems to want to get on an exercise buddy system! So I'm just going to have to go it alone! Also, are you happy with the decision to hire one? Is it helping you? Does he go with you to every work out session or you meet occasionally (how often?) to revise and set up a work out plan? How much do you pay ( want to know the average) and where do you live? Thanks so much!!

Hello all! So I was sleeved March 15th of this year and and lost 97lbs in 5.5 months...(I didn't lose anything in August...my own fault..kinda took a break). I've been walking for about 3-5x a week for exercise but haven't for the last 3 weeks or so due to rain and wind(yes i'm a woose),. I want to do something different but am not sure where to start and what exercises to focus on. I am apple shaped and carry almost ALL of my weight on my belly. ugh! My upper arms, thighs, and butt(what little butt i even have!) have become flabby and I have about 38lbs to go (almost all in the tummy). What I want to know is ...What exercises should I now focus on? Cardio of c…

Hi all. I am currently in the 6 month nutrition part of this deal. My nutritionist told me that I need to add more physical activity to my daily routine. Problem is that I have a bad back. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on a exercise routine that was easy on the back. Thanks in advance.

Oh man... I am about to toss out my home scales.. it is saying that I am 3 lbs. heavier than my Wii Fit.. I am really thinking of sticking with the Wii's out come. At least it makes me feel better and actually CHANGES.. my home scales never seems to go ANYWHERE!! UGH My home one say I am 286 lbs. and my Wii is claiming I am 283 lbs. What to do.. what to do Oh on my Wii Fit.. I LOVE the Rhythm Boxing, and I really am not thrilled about the stepping one.. ALSO... If I am good with the slow jog on my Wii Fit.. does anyone think I can really go jog outside down the road?? I would love to go for a jog with my dog. I KNOW my dog would LOVE IT…

I've been looking around for a watch that calculates cals burned and heart rate etc... I am surprised at the vast range out there ranging from £5 - £300!! Now, I can't afford anything near the top of the range and I am suspicious of the cheaper ones. Have any of you used one? Can you recommend? It would be interesting to hear your experiences and opinions on this type of 'aid'?! Cheers in advance...

Howfar do you have to travel every day to reach your office and back home? Whatever the answer, it is not the distancethat you travel which affects health, say doctors. Instead, some other factorslike the time you take to travel, the mode of travelling and the posture duringtravel will influence your health. There are many factors on the road thataffect your state of `being healthy' -- the windings routes, undulating surfaceof the roads, potholes, road humps, etc to name a few. Theswaying of the body during journey, the sudden jerks that you are subjected towhile going through a bumpy road -- all these may lead to spinal injuries, doctors say. Researchers in Bangalore…

Last night I made plans with a friend. I was so excited all day about it. I couldn't wait to get home and meet up with her and start our exciting Friday night. Do you know what we did? We went gym shopping!!! We checked out 5 different gyms. I was just wondering if anyone has any tips to share for choosing a gym. Things you wish you had considered before picking your gym or something you couldn't live without. Please share! Anyone belong to an LA Fitness? Seems to be the nicest one with out a long term contract. Big and open. Lots of classes to choose from. A pool, hot tub and a sauna. Thanks in advance!!

I go to the gym at 5 a.m. (so I get up at 4:30). I am generally STARVED when I wake up. I try to have a small snack before I go to the gym (i.e. handful of cheerios, a few grapes, etc) so I don't get dizzy when I work out. Any suggestions for other lite Snacks in the morning before I exercise??? Thanks, Katie

Just want to let everyone know that if you are looking for a cheap and easy alternative to the gym resistance bands are great! I just picked some up off of Amazon for $30 and boy am I sore. So far they are just as good as freeweights for me and much more convenient than driving to a gym. Here are the ones that I bought and thoroughly enjoy: http://www.amazon.com/Black-Mountain-Products-Resistance-Exercise/dp/7245456313/ref=sr_1_3?s=sporting-goods&ie=UTF8&qid=1312767004&sr=1-3 Just thought I'd pass along the tip! Well, I made the BIG commitment and joined a gym with my 19 yr. old daughter! I have NO idea where to even begin! I guess the treadmill and excerise bike is a good way to start, but I am also thinking of doing the beginning circuit fpr toning. What was your exercise routine when you join and were still on the heavy side and out of shape?

I am really cheesed off at the moment... just as I get my mojo back, positive attitude and a sense of well being, I get an injury. My fermoral ligament/muscle at the front of my left thigh has completely gone and is sooooo bloody painful! I have been to my doc and he has given me diazapam and anti inflammatory tabs to take (which haven't kicked in yet) and I have to leave my training off for a coupld of weeks. Each step I take gives me a shooting pain through my thigh, groin and sometines into up into my pelvis and down into my knee... and it is leaving me exhausted and frustrated. The doc said it will sort itself out, but couldn't give me time frame.... arghhhhhh! …

Now some of you may not agree but I love the look of a muscular woman. I've had that look in the past (with a layer of fat) but now I'm lifting weights and not getting bigger muscles like I'd like. Are any of you able to "body build"? Did you bulk up after stopped losing? Apparently I'll need a dose of whey protein within 1/2 hour of lifting (which sounds yucky but I can manage). Any advice?

Yay me. Last Saturday I ran my first 5k and completed it. Yay. I wasn't speedy gonzalez but I ran the whole thing and finished. I think my time was 49 minutes or close to it. I actually was so excited at the finish line, and since this was my very first race, I didn't know I was supposed to turn in my bib tear off thingy to stop the clock and I spent a good 5 minutees jumping for joy and visiting with my friends, family and colleagues who showed up to support me. According to my cardio trainer app on my Droid, I was clocking about 15 min 40 seconds a mile. Which beats my former best time of 18 minutes plus... 15 years ago!

Hi all, I have been working out regularly on my own at the gym and one of the trainers offered me a free session.. it went great. I am thinking of signing up for a three pack with him... my question is if I should tell him about my lap band?? I am not at all ashamed of it and all of my friend and co workers know and i have been more supportive then I could have ever dreamed. I am just not sure how it will be preceived in that environment and if it even matters..thoughts?

Has anyone done the 30 day shred? This is not for the faint. The program is like working with a personal trainer...seriously. Jillian is no joke. But there have been a lot of good reviews/results with her program. just do a google search for reviews and you'll see. I am guessing it is not against board rules to post other websites since we reference weight watchers on this board so...do a search on Amazon and my fitness pal community and you'll see some amazing results. Anyway, I am only on day two but am siked! BTW, this is not for the beginner. I have heard some say they do it in conjunction with Couch to 5k and other running/walking/exercises.

I've been watching the Biggest Loser, both the American one and the Australian one and I have noticed how 'tight' the contestants' skin looks... especially their upper arms. O know they work like hell in the gym and that they spend most of the day working out and getting physio etc... but why don't they have sagging bat wings like me? I'm thinking the belly area is tight due to good underwear but the arms...? Any ideas?

So, six weeks ago, I had a tough time walking from the parking lot to my apartment. I've been steadily walking the "little D" from my hallway to the close end of my building, then adding in laps to the "big D" from the farther hallway to the end of my building. I've been okay at that, but my goal was to be able to walk to the mailbox without dying. LOL This morning, I not only walked to the mailbox, I walked all the way around the lake in the middle of our complex! I know it's probably an eighth or a quarter of a mile, so not a big distance, but I'm so proud of myself that I had to post it!! So far, I've lost 40 pounds and I've dropped one pants size. My butt is gett…

Okay... I keep checking my body fat % through this website which asks you to enter in measurement data. It just now told me I'm at 27.22% and according to the charts I'm smack in the middle of Acceptable Body Fat %... WHHOOOHOOOO!!! That said, it IS just a website and they can be a little deceiving. I don't DISbelieve it, but how can I say it's true when its just a website... they don't really know? BTW here is the website: http://www.bmi-calculator.net/ They have tons of different options to check out. It is very interesting and I think they could be really could be close in my case... I am going to search out a Bod Pod in my area. I'd like to get my bo…

I'm getting really frustrated with myself, because I don't seem to be able to find any thrill in this process. I'm not unhappy at all with my progress - I've lost a little over 30 pounds since surgery, a little over 50 since my highest weight. I'm down to a size 14 from 18W/20W. I look much better, and I know that. But when I step on the scale in the morning, and the number has dropped, there's no little jolt of joy. When I can fit into a pair of pants that were too small before, there's no feeling of victory or accomplishment. Maybe it's because I'm just working my way back to someplace I was before. Just 5 years ago, I was at a weight I was pretty happy with. I…

It's Walk to Work Day in Australia today. I live about 25km from work so I decided to add some extra time to my morning walk this morning. And for the first time ever, my DH got out of bed and walked with me. He has to travel 100+km to work today so he defnitely wasn't walking! We had a lovely walk and chat, although I did have to keep hurrying him up as my heart rate wasn't getting high enough! I drove to the town where I work and remembered that I had to drop my car into the garage for a road worthy check. The mechanic offered me a lift to work but I knew it was Walk to Work Day so I said no thanks, I'll walk. Five minutes into my 20 minute walk and it began to rain! …

Hiya all... At my boxing gym there is a lot of talk about kettle bells and the great results they give. Just wondering if anyone has tried them and how good they are? 62 years old and "wings" are getting more and more pronounced, but I know that I do not want surgery. I do arm exercises, and am really trying to focus on them, but they just flap there and mock me! Anyone know of exercises other than weights? If weights, what weight is best, how many reps? Maybe I am doing it wrong. Thanks for any suggestions.

I had surgery 8/17 and I'm sooooooooo READY to hit the gym for some Kickboxing. I've been reading posts and some say 6 weeks some say sooner. I've emailed my patient coordinator but haven't gotten a response yet. I feel like my loss has been a little slow so I'm ready to "get this weightloss party started". I don't have any pains or issues (other than the weird pain by my belly button when I make certain movements).

My husband and I go to dance classes/social dancing every Monday night. Usually it's me saying that I've had enough and it's time we headed home. Not tonight! He had to go to a meeting so I joined our friends for dinner and then we all headed off to dancing. By the time my husband arrived I had learnt a new line dance and done the warm up dance. We skip beginners because the floor is filled but we are first up for social dancing and then intermediates. Our usual finish time came and went and I was still rocking, Charleston kicking and having a ball. Eventually my husband said he was tired and we needed to call it quits but I had another dance in me so joined a new waltz s…

I have stalled in my weight loss the last couple of years. Althought I have not gained which is awesome I have become way too comfortable...I decided to get busy. I am currently on week 3 of the couch to 5K program. I also go to Zumba 2x's per week. To hold myself accountable I also registered for a 5K at the end of October. Anyone else doing this or just starting out in a running program?

Now I've been told that so long as we maintain our Protein intake we shouldn't lose muscle mass. This is rather puzzling to me as I am currently at 45% bodyfat. All told this means I have approximately 240lb of lean body mass. I know this includes bones, organs and muscle tissue. This makes sense to me as it does take some heft to haul 400+lb around. What I am trying to wrap my mind around is losing the fat and sitting there with 240lb of lbm and say 40lb of bodyfat. I'd be healthy but I never imagined being 280lb and ok. I'm just gonna be a big guy I guess. No wonder my surgeon said 210lb is not in my cards.... Does any of this make sense to anyone? I wanted to be slim…

Ok...It's probably been covered before...beat to death maybe, but the question on my mind is: Do you eat part or all of your exercise calories? If yes to either part or all, what's your "formula"? If yes, what is your best "guesstimate" on the impact this has had, pro or con, on your weightloss journey. Thanks in advance!

I have always wondered about this piece of equipment...if it is wortht the cost and storage demands and how well it works for weight loss. I live within a few miles from a gym I get to use for FREE but I feel like I would use something at home more than actually having to parade myself in front of other fit people to get exercise. Was wondering if there are any who own it and how satisfied with the treadclimber they are????

All I've been doing for activity is walking 30-60 mins at least 5 times a week. I wanted to take things to another level, but nothing seems to motivate/interest me. I have my own heavybag and love to box, but I get so winded down that it's not a very effective exercise at this point. I was recently motivated by a fellow sleever to try something new, something that my pre-sleeve self would've thought was CRAZY. I'm visiting a few bike shops to buy a bike, and teach myself how to ride again. I'm still very overweight, but to hell with it, I feel like having FUN with my exercise! I'm nervous but I'm also excited. I think it's going to be a hilarious and exhilarating experi…
