I have to say it is one of THE most exhilarating feelings to know I will NEVER have to shop in that horrid section of department store's EVER again! It's like being let out of jail, of the time-out-corner -- being let loose on parts of the store I haven't been allowed into for so many years. To stand in the fitting room and try on size small and medium tops that are fashionable and cute, just makes me And it's only going to get better from here. The clerks are getting to know me because I come in a buy a size, keep the tags and receipt until I wear that item. Then two or three weeks later, if I haven't worn it, I find I try it on and already need the next size down. I'…

*stands up raises hand* My name is VVixen, and I’m a ‘Numbers‘ Wh*re. *hangs head* See, when I first decided that I needed to do something drastic to get the weight off of my rather petite 5’3″ frame… all I had in my head was… numbers Numbers NUMBERS scale.png" rel="external nofollow"> In fact, from the day that I got on the scale and it had hit the 300# mark, all I could EVER think about was numbers…and getting said numbers to decrease (though in actuality, the numbers went up about 10# before going down *lol*). I had in my head that IF I’m going to have this weight loss surgery, then I need to ensure I hit *my* goal weight of 175 – preferably by my…

Hi, 3 years and 7 months ago I had weight loss surgery--sleeve. I was so scared that I would gain the weight back--because in the past I always seemed to gain it back. I learned by making a lifestyle change and eating healthy and including exercise that I do keep the weight off. I have started to exercise more lately, because I feel so much better when I do exercise. I have learned that those of us that exercise love all kinds of exercise. For me walking has worked. I am 66 and it is something that is easy to do. I purchased something that allows to to track how far I am walking each day. I purchased a NIKEPlus and it comes with a chip that you put in you…

My size 12p jeans are now so large they fall down. I really can even wear them with a belt. I just bought new size 10 petite jeans. How sweet it is! I am still wearing size either size 12p or 10p in dress pants - depends on the brand. Love my sleeve! Sharon

I went into Victoria's Secret today on a whim and got measured for a bra and I was a 38 DD. Do you know what that means??? They sell bras in my size now! So, I promptly spent $134 on new bras and undies!!! LOL. Hope my husband likes them enough to not pay attention to the price tag. LOL I decided that when I get to goal, I'm going to LaPerla to really splurge.

Ok. This was awesome! My husband has a habit of walking past me and smacking me a good one on the butt. Usually too hard and I have to whine at him. So tonight, I was wearing a pair of jeans I haven't worn in years. I was showing him the pants and I said "go ahead! Smack it!" He said Nooooo, it's too small and delicate, I might break it! HAAA!!!! He called my butt small and delicate!! He's never said anything on me was small OR delicate! (It's not really small by many definitions, but I guess compared to what he was USED to looking at....) YESSSS!!!!

I was talking to my sister, telling her that I have 70 lbs left till my goal, 90 lost since pre-op dieting. She asked me if it has seemed to go by quickly. It has gone by quickly, day to day doesn't but week to week, yes, I was a 16 two weeks ago and now I am a 14!! Then I realized, I've lost 45lbs in just over 3 months!!! HOLY CRAP that is awesome. Hope to be at my goal by my October birthday and it actually seems possible.

Hi guys it's been a long time since I visited the site. But i have found myself very discouraged and upset with myself. I have lose 90 pounds and have been eating and starting up bad habits that I had gotten rid of. My husband doesn't want me to lose any more weight so i've been sabotaging myself. Prior to surgery I wore a size 24. Today, I had to go buy new pants because all my other one's were too big. So I went to the store and tried on 20's . . . . to big, then I tried on 18's . . . .STILL too big. I then tried the 16's and they fit!!!!!!! I haven't worn 16's in over 20 years!!!!! I am so LOVING my sleeve!

Had my procedure in Oct. and I am down 75lbs. Just like everyone says along with the weight coming off, so do the inches. I have always done most of my shopping on line because I hate to shop(no matter what size I am). Any way I was wearing 3x tops and 1x bottoms. Needed a few things for summer trips. My size 1x tops and x-lg bottoms arrived today and I will be lucky to make these last the summer b4 they fall off. I was shocked to see how loose they were, to tell the truth I figured if they were too tight for the June trip, I would hopefully use them for the Jan. cruise. So my advise is not to order anything on line but rather go to the store and see just what size…

I have been banded for about 3 1/2 months and i have lost 58 pounds without a fill and plan on losing the rest of my weight without a fill. I am just so excited! I can't believe im more than halfway to my goal weight. Only 35 more pounds to go! This for me has been about more than just a band, it has been a lifestyle/ mindset change. I am so proud to be able to post and say Im doing it and in 35 more pounds i will have gotten t goal! If i said it had been a peice of cake i would be lying, but it hasnt been extremely hard either. It has just been a CHANGE, something different and new to me. I have developed a lifestyle of fitness and healthy eating that will stay with me …

I went into the OR roughly 6 months ago. The operation and hospitalization itself were not too painful. I got the surgery for free because I live in a country with universal health care. The wait was long, 9 months, but it wasn't too much trouble. The first few weeks were rough and there was some (but not a lot of) vomiting. Then I started eating what the hospital's dietician listed for me - 6 meals a day, one in every 3 hours, give or take. I don't follow her guidings too strictly, but those 60 lbs just came off by themselves. I didn't exercise intensively (once a week or less). I didn't abstain from candy or carbs - I ate less of them, not because I was "on a diet" but…

Today while at the gym the receptionist stopped me to see my ID card. When he saw my pic on the screen where you swipe your key card he didn't believe I was the same girl. My pic they took 3 months ago looks nothing like the girl I am today. 34 pounds lighter and down 2 sizes!! I am so happy and grateful for my sleeve. I almost hugged that guy.

I'm a week post op and down 24 lbs (yea me) but it still feels like a dream that I'm going to wake up and find it is all untrue and I'm still the same "big girl"' I have always been. I still cannot see myself as thinner, cannot see myself shoping in the non plus size section of the store, and cannot see myself a year down the road yet. I know it has to do with the many tried and failed weight loss atempts in the past but I still cannot seem to see me sucessful yet. When did it hit you that this was real and you were going to be truely successful at thie weight loss?

Hello everyone, I was sleeved on 2/4/12 lost 22 pounds so far. the first couple of weeks after surgery I was losing a pound or two every day but once I hit 3 weeks I stalled out at 243 pounds and been stuck there ever since. Is this normal? Monday will be 4 weeks. I haven't been over eating or anything like that I have been sticking to my diet plan. I feel very frustrated that the weight loss seems to have stopped. Any help or suggestions will be welcome

Today I went to my doctor for my monthly follow up. He walked in and said "Hey skinny!' Then he said i have lost 9 pounds since my last appt. last month and my % of body fat has gone from 52% to 36%. He asked me how many pant sizes I have gone down and I said from an 18 to an 8, and he said well don't by anymore 8's because you will be in a 6 soon! He said that I only have 11 more pounds to go until I am at his goal for me. Then he told me that I have lost more weight each month than any other of his sleeve patients monthly follow ups! Boy did I feel good when I left there, so I stopped on the way home and went clothes shopping! (But no pants just tops). LOL!

I'm looking for a few good books on WLS. I am an avid reader and would really appreciate your input on any books that you may have read about WLS. Primarily books dealing with the "after" surgery experience. I've looked on Amazon (I have a Kindle), and I see quite a few, but I wanted to get input from some folks who may have read some.

Last year at this time I was recovering from surgery, it was the best decision I have ever made for my self. I have been lucky and have not had any problems along the way but it is still a challenge everyday to not fall back in to old habbits. Anybody who says this is the easy way out has no idea that it is not easy you have to stay with it and follow the the program of diet and exercise. That being said we are all human and slip ups happen I have had my fair share of them for sure! The one thing I wish some one had told me before hand was not to get so obsessed over the number on the scale. I look at pictures of myself and realize that I have not been this small si…

I had surgery 12 weeks ago. Prior to and soon after surgery I read many posts about people a few months out and most everyone said the sleeve was the best decision they had ever made. I was so hopeful but at the same time fearful that I wouldn’t have such a successful journey. I am happy to say that I feel the exact same way as they described!!! I never thought it would be possible to feel this much better both physically and emotionally in such a short time. I have lost 47 lbs. (stalled for a week now) and down 30.5 inches! I was in a tight 20W three months ago. Now I am comfortably in a size 16. I have an NSV to share that some of the ladies may be able to relate. I…

First off, the band has changed my life for the better. It was well worth it. When I attended my band orientation I weighed 340 pounds. After my first year, I was down to 220 and feeling great. Over the last 2 1/2 years I've slowly gained back 20 pounds and stabilized at just under 240. I work out 3 times a week. I can't really eat rice, bead, Pasta or any more than a couple oz of meat. I've learned to eat differently, more Soup, chilli, oatmeal and yogurt. I eat 5 times a day and feel great with my diet. There is no doubt I eat more sweets than I should. The problem is my goal was 220 and as hard as I try, I just can't seem to get back that 20 pounds lost. I'm thinkin…

I just got the cutest message from VST saying I had posted 500 times since I joined and how they appreciate my active participation! I feel great about that! I love this site and it has helped me immensely during this journey. My husband lost his job last week and with all that added stress, instead of eating, I come here to see if I might be able to help someone or see if there is any new interesting ideas that will help me. I am a stress eater and a boredom eater and this really helps me get through some hard times. I appreciate the fact that we have this community that cares about everyone and we all understand what it is to be fat and all the repercussions t…

Here's the background data. I took an early retirement package from my employer at the end of December of 2011. They were having some tough times financially and wanted to reduce costs - so when they offered the package, I accepted it. I took a gamble on myself and my skills being marketable in the bad economy. Not a fun time to be in the job market. For those of you who haven't looked for a job recently - it is completely different than it was even two years ago. If you don't know how to use social media, have a great "content-rich" resume, and are willing to network almost continuously, you are going to have a difficult finding a new job. I am 55 years old, and am co…

I was banded Dec 19th 2011 and I am currently down 51 lbs. Its been good so far. I had one Major time of food getting stuck and that was last weds. That hurt so bad. But other than that I have been doing good. Its funny how I dont crave a lot of the foods I loved before surgery. I just know those foods are bad news and they probally will hurt. I love my band. I so hope at one year out I will have lost 100 lbs but I am just taking it one day at a time!!!!!!

After losing over 110lbs so far since last July (30lbs until goal), my passion for fitness and helping people has been a huge part of my life in these past couple months.... I'm officially getting my national personal training certification right now and want to know if you guys can give me your input on something.... I will be creating my niche and who my main clients will be and on top of obese and overweight individuals, I want to start training clients that are having a weight loss surgery or has had one.... Would someone (myself) that has had surgery and has lost a good amount of weight be in a great position and be a valuable asset to those types of clients??…

I went to the mall with my family last Saturday and found my way to the Macy's men's department. I started trying on sport coats and suit jackets. The more I did, the more giddy I became. What a joy to stand in front of a mirror in good clothing and and look good! I wouldn't even go over there a couple months ago, nothing fit and a trial of depression was certain to occur. A sales lady came over and I gushed out my entire WLS story to her. I don't know if she shared my enthusiasm or not, drunk people like me are more concerned with self expression than communication. I didn't buy anything. At those prices I will hit my goal first. Got high nonetheless. Sleeving is …

WOOT! I am no longer obese . . . just plain ol' overweight. I changed my weigh-in day to Wednesdays (because I realized that most of my transgressions occur on the weekends . . . helps to have a couple extra days to rebound) and yesterday morning I officially hit 174. I'm almost 90 lbs down total and less than 25 lbs to goal. It's a real stretch to think I'll be at goal by my 1 year surgiversary, but a girl can dream, right? BEFORE: AFTER (most current taken from about a month or so ago):

The topic title above isn't referring to my surgery experience. I've been one of the very fortunate ones that was sleeved with zero complications and actually reached my goal in just under 4 months. The surgery has literally changed my life and was unquestionably the best decision I've ever made for myself. What I can't believe is the reaction I now get from so many people that know me well. Most say that I look "way too thin" or even ask if I'm "sick" (yes, one person has even asked if I have cancer!). I realized recently that all of these people have only ever seen me the way I've been most of my adult life...obese. Which gets back to my original statement...It'…

Today I went shopping with my 16 year old daughter and we both bought shirts at Maurice's. Before I began this journey even the largest of their plus line clothes were too small for me. It just felt so good to get to try things on with my daughter in the next dressing room and then give each other our opinions on how things look. Especially when she told me one of the dresses I tried on was too big! Sharing time with your kids and not having to worry about them being embarrassed by your size is PRICELESS!!!!

I just have to say that I am proud of myself. I have a long way to go to truly become a 'success story', but I am celebrating my little successes. I have been on blood pressure meds for 25 years. Over the years I've had to have bigger doses to keep it under control. When I went back to the dr. for my fill, my bp was 90/55= low. So I monitored for a week and it was still low- plus I had dizzy spells/low energy bc of the low bp. Now, I am on 1/4 of the dose after losing just 30 pounds. Regular Dr. is pleased and projected I would be off bp meds after another 20-30 pounds. My health is so much better and I feel so much better already. The band was worth it just for …

I hit wonderland about 3 weeks ago (or maybe a month now) and i've only dropped 5 lbs since then. Crazy....I'll admit I indulged a little more than usually sugar-wise, but that wouldn't halt weightloss altogether would it?? I'm curious is once you hit Onederland its harder to shed the pounds? I jumped back on the treadmill yesterday and plan on doing at least 30 minutes of fast walking 3-4 times a week, hopefully to kick losing back into gear. Suggestions? Stories?

I need some help... My surgery is scheduled for May 15th. I decided that I better tell those close to me as they will find out when I am loosing lots of weight and eating only protein etc... But now I am second guessing if this is the right choice. I am BMI 37 since having my twins 10 months ago. Before that I was bt 31-33 bmi. My husband thinks it is so risky to get this done and I am jeopardizing my long term health. He thinks in 15 years the sleeve will no longer be the next best thing just like lapband turned out to be. Maybe he is right. Maybe I can loose the weight on my own. I don't know. Is the surgery just a cop out for me? Please tell me if these are normal feel…

I am 2 days shy of my 1 year anniversary, and I've lost a total of 92 lbs. Although it isn't the 100 I hoped, for 92 is pretty dang good and feels even better. I had some issues along the way. A fill that was too tight and I didn't say anything which lead to vomiting, which lead to a slip. That has all resolved and I am doing pretty dang well. The weight loss has slowed a bit, but my band is a tad loose and I'm ok with that. I don't have to be tortured over what I eat and if I want a half a piece of toast or some milk, I can do that with where my band is at today. The exercise is great. I can not believe how good of shape I am in. I plan on hiking Mt. Elbert this summer. …
