  6. My Doc told me to wait 3 months, which I did. I love my straws...I drink out of one everyday, no problems! Sent from my iPhone using VST

  8. I gave up liquid Protein as soon as I could! I never liked the shakes or shots! At my 3 month post op checkup, my surgeon told me that I should be EATING my 60g daily. Since then I have been eating a 20g Protein Bar (Cliff's Builders vanilla Almond) for breakfast every day along with my morning cup of decaf. I easily get in the rest of my protein during the day. I focus on a balanced diet and all Is well. My bm's are regular and I have no complaints loving my sleeve! I've lost 80lbs in 10 months and I'm keeping it moving to losing 150lbs! Yay! 11. I agree with everyone else, just be supportive...I have a co-worker who is openly jealous of the 80lbs I've lost and she constantly tries to compare her weight loss to mine (she lost 12lbs with the flu...) AND she constantly compares her "small" appetite to mine...sigh...it is what it is...do you, be supportive and the rewards and shine will come Sent from my iPhone using VST
  12. My surgeon told me to avoid straws until I was fully healed...after that, he said you will not swallow any more air with a straw than you do talking...think about it...we breathe in and out all day while we talk. Is a straw gonna kill you? I think not. I started back using straws at 3 months post op and I couldn't get in my 64+ ounces of liquid a day without a straw. I'm now 9 months post op. 23. Lol!!! I'm 15 weeks post op, down 70 lbs...and yes, Miss Kitty has reappeared! Lol! I can't wait to have my tummy tuck next year to smooth my tummy completely! Fortunately, my gut has shrunk in proportion with my weight loss. Yay! Sent from my iPhone using VST
  24. I'm back to my straws...helps me drink much more. My NUT told me I could start back using a straw at 3 months post op...I did, with no problems. Sent from my iPhone using VST

  27. I'm 14 weeks out today, by no means a veteran...but I'll take a stab at this one for you... I've lost 70 lbs and I've never followed a "set" meal schedule. My surgeon advised me to listen to my sleeve: eat when I'm hungry, and that's exactly what I do. I eat 4-6 VERY small meals a day and my sleeve has gotten me on a regular daily schedule. At 8 weeks, my Doc told me I could ditch the Protein shakes for Protein Bars...they taste way better & I hate shakes anyway. When my loss stalled, he advised me to up my daily calories from 700/800 to 1000...and waddya know? The scale started zooming again. I stick to the basics & I don't waste my time on foods/snacks w/poor nutritional value--except for pork rinds! They have replaced chocolate & dessert in my life! Everyone is unique, so there is no magic formula, but I do believe listening to your body is a great key to success. Sent from my iPhone using VST
