Hey everyone! I had my 3 month follow up yesterday and am happy to report that I'm down 53 lbs since surgery! For one, I can't believe that 3 months have already passed. I was hoping to be down more than that by now but I am beginning to let that go. I stalled for almost my entire 2nd month and was just glad to see progress during the 3rd month. I have become obsessed with counting - carbs, Protein, fat grams, ounces of Water, etc. I started feeling like I was on the hardest diet ever! I was the baby in my support group yesterday, all others were 8-12 months post op. It was hard expressing my frustrations because they all had a been there, done that attitude about p…

I can't even tell you all how beyond excited I am for this It's been making me crazy trying not to go crazy announcing it before the voting time actually started haha. Sooooo I follow Shelly, aka the world according to eggface, blog. Well a couple years back she was a grand prize winner in the Progresso Souper You contest. Well she posted about it a few months back, encouraging people to enter. Well I did and GUESS WHAT! I was picked as a finalist!! WOW! Crazy right? This time last year, I was laid up in bed, in pain, miserable and 115 lbs heavier than I am today at just over a year post op. The 3 grand prize winners get an amazing trip to LA, a full makeover,…

2038. Iron GIRL) to do the scale in well over a month, so I have no idea where I am with my weight. I suppose I need to do that to get an idea of what exactly I’m aiming for. What I do know, is that I’m becoming less concerned with numbers…and more concerned with overall fitness, core strength, and endurance. I’d venture to say that forcing my body into submission by way of “perpetual training” for these monthly running events, I’ll also be forcing this last 40-50# to pack their bags and get up off me! Small Side Note: I have noticed that when planning a run [trot/jog/whateveryouwannacallit], my eating is different. There are somethings thatI don’t want in my body w…

Hello friends I'm currently looking at band over bypass surgery. I had my bypass in 2007 lost 90 lbs got to 199 then got pregnant after 10yrs of infertility. I have gained everything back and I am back to my pre weight surgery. So I'm researching my options. Anyone on here have BOB? If so how are you doing? Have an amazing day.

I am confused about the preciseness of digital scales. I did a side by side comparison with three scales. The Health-o-meter, Taylor, and Thinner where all placed on a flat level surface and calibrated as per manufacture instructions. All three gave different readings. The Health-o-meter read 185.6 lbs., Thinner reading were 183.4, and Taylor displayed 181.2. I really like the Taylor because it always read the less weight. They all were within 5 lbs. One point of note Thinner and Taylor are more sensitive as they indicate a change in Water weight, before and after bathroom visits. Just wondering do anyone else notice the inconsistency in scales. digital s…

My surgeon did not set any goal for me, so I set one for myself -- the higest range of 'Normal' BMI. If your surgeon did not set any goal for you, did you set one for yourself? And what made you choose that number?

I've read a lot on here about goals, and thought about mine. I've never dared to dream I could possibly weigh 120lbs, but why not? A goal without a plan is just a wish... And my plan is in the first stages of progress

We sometimes worried so much about the scale numbers and stalls but have you ever compare your starting sizes clothes with your current ones? This is progress Real progress and the scale numbers mean NOTHING

So I have been post op 9weeks. I guess I was in shock or I don't know what I was. That i have never said i love my sleeve till today!! Lol But I weighed in today at 205lb. Highest weight ever was 291 ( 3years ago) started my pre op diet at 268. Prior to surgery I weighed in at 240lbs. But I am sooo close to onederland, I can almost taste it! I am a slow loser I average 2lbs a week. I have a trip to Hawaii on May 4th. I know I won't be bikini ready (far from!) but I so wanna be under 200. Ahhhh I hope I make it! Btw I had an NSV... I can wrap my bath towel around myself and no skin shows!! Lol

For the last few books my body had been playing around the 198-201 mark. GRR!!! After running my first 10K and focusing on getting in a few extra oz of Water. I'm down to 186!!!! I'm sooo excited. I have a mini goal of hitting 175 by the time I got to Vegas in May. I'm confident that I'll be able to hit the 145-150 mark by September. (I want to wear a swimsuit for my bday)

So, I've been gone a while - a work trip had me pretty MIA, and work has been very busy since I got back as well. 1. The towe I use for the hot tub fits all the way around me and then some now YAY! 2. I can have the steering wheel all the way down when I'm driving and don't have to move it to get in and out of the car either 3. Clothing sizes have definitely changed 4. I sat in a booth at a restaurant after much anxiety, it was no problem - in fact, I had to scoot forward a bit in the booth to eat. 5. I got my wedding ring on and off my finger I had it cut off about a year and a half ago to have surgery for breast tumors and haven't even tried it on sinc…

Oh boy! This was a toughie for me. I haven't liked my picture taken in a LONG time. If a picture got taken that I didn't like I would delete it immediately. In fact, I've been so embarrassed about how I look, I took down my wedding picture that I had on my desk at school, because I didn't look anything like the woman that married my husband. Each time someone reminded me of that, I became more and more ashamed. SO, I had to search far and wide for a few shots of me before my surgery and to be honest - they aren't the worst! - but they are all I have, I've also taken a couple of head shots since my surgery, and posted those, too. I haven't been brave enough to tak…

How bad/tired/weak/sore did you post op-ers feel for the first few weeks. I am planning on only taking two weeks off. Is this a sensible time. I have a desk job with lifting or strenuous physical activity. I may have to use vacation time. Looking for some honest opinions.

It's not even 10:30pm and I'm literally ready to pass out. I went to the nail shop this morning for about 2 hours and it took a lot out of me. How long does this lack of energy and being sleepy all the time last, i feel useless LOL? I'm freshly sleeved as of 4/10. Sent from my iPhone using VST

Welcome fellow successes! A year has gone by since we all each posted about our nerves going into surgery, our fears, our hopes, trials and tribulations post op... and now we're on the outside looking in... as success stories, as "seasoned sleevers"! For me, I'm a couple weeks from my one year anniversary and sitting comfortably below goal! I hit goal (149 lbs) a few days before Christmas 2011 and since then I've blasted past it and now sit at 133 lbs! Occasionally I've had moments where I worried that I am losing too much, or worse that I won't be able to stop losing. I currently get in around 1000-1200 calories a day which I know is too low for me and I still s…

I really hated looking at myself before my sleeve. However, one of my dearest friends had taken a picture of me 1-month before my surgery while at a football game. This picture truly showed how large I had become. I hated this picture, but it's proof of what the sleeve can do for you. The second picture is this past weekend. The success of my sleeve is truly visible. I'm very proud to have taken the opportunity to save my life and make the sleeve work for me. Good luck to all of you who have undergone and/are beginning this transformation.

I just wanted to share with everyone that the decision to get sleeved on April 26th 2011 in Tijuana Mexico was literally the best thing that I have ever done and my only draw back was that I didn't do it sooner! This time last year I was freaking out about having the surgery, going to Mexico by myself and starving due to a month on the liquid diet, but I would do it again in a heart beat! If you are thinking about getting the surgery DO IT! don't even think about it not getting it done!! This may sound normal for a lot of you, but a lot of little things changed this past year like how people act towards me, its sad to but they act much nicer and more respectful, I've…

I am less than 3 months post-op and I can't even begin to explain how this surgery has already transformed my life! Thank you to everyone who's posts have motivated me and kept me on track. I've been sticking to an under 1000 calorie diet per my surgeon's recommendation and it has really paid off. MyFitnessPal.com has been the best tool ever and the Endomondo App has motivated me to keep exercising! I feel GREAT!!!!! Good luck everyone!!! We took photos at work today and this was the first photograph of me since the surgery. It was the first time seeing myself in a photo and I about fell on the floor. I don't recognize myself!

When I gained weight, I noticed my height went from a solid 5' 2.5" to 5' 1.75" which was sad but I knew that as we age our vertebral discs loose elasticity and we get shorter. Sun of a gun, I've been in two doctor's offices this week and both measured me at 5' 2.5" again! I had no idea my weight gain had put that much pressure on my spine. Also, I've gone back to my normal shoe size of 7.5. I was an 8 at my heaviest!

So I had a visit with my surgeon yesterday, I thought he was going to be really disappointed in because I have been disappointed with myself. I have had very slow weight and I thought he would have wanted to see more also. So I said to him wht can I do to speed up my weight loss because it is coming off so slow. he says" well you didn't have gastric bypass how quick do you think it should come off" that made me feel better. Then he says to me tell me when is the last time you've lost 48 pounds in 12 weeks. I told him well since you put it like that I guess I'm doing just fine..... All labs were good except my B1 level was low, so another vitamin that I have to take now. I…

Prior to surgery, I was at Ikea. Right by the checkout there was a display of simple kid's step stools, made of a molded white plastic. I'm a shorty, so I grabbed one and bought it. When I got home, I showed it to my husband, and started to stand on it. It started to bend! LOL - how embarrassing, I was to heavy for that kid's stool. I never did finish putting my weight on it because it was going to collapse. I put it in the closet. Last night, I was looking through the closet and came across the stool. I pulled it out and cautiously put my weight on it. It did NOT collapse. I can now use the kid's step stool. YAY! I'd post a picture of this amazing feat, but I need …

June of 2011, I was 275. Began Weight Watchers and used recipes from http://www.hungry-girl.com and lost 45lbs. On the day of surgery, January 23, 2012, I was 230. I am now 194.8. Size 22-24, 3x-4x down to a size 16 or Large. My goal is to get where I was 6 years ago, 115 lbs, size 2!!

The process for my surgery in Alabama will not take a long time so I am excitedly nervous. I just attended a college homecoming and I looked like I had eaten everything that everyone else lost. My surgery is the jumpstart to a brand new life. I have been defining myself by what I cannot do and I have a child who is watching me fail this test with obesity. I can't let that happen. I also have to remove the crutch I have used for all of my failures in life. My fear of success rest on my body image. I know it shouldn't but it does right now. I am in need of counseling. I am going to get it. My weight gain is a manifestation of something else and need to find out what. I don'…

Today is my one year band anniversary and I am down 58kg (about 130lb). I have stalled in the last month but have a fill in two weeks so that will help. this year I have dropped from a size 26 (tight) to a 14 on top, 16 on bottom. From dancing a couple of songs then telling my husband it was time to sit down, I am now staying on the dance floor all night. from being embarrassed to be seen on my bicycle, I am now a 60+ km a day lycra cyclist and loving it. from avoiding clothes shopping because nothing fit me, I am now the first person into the clothes store and I just keep on buying. and from avoiding all photos, I am looking forward to my son's wedding next week …

This morning I weigh less than my husband ( who happens to be a very in shape Marine). I have been chasing that goal for a long time. I also went from 226 to 174 and that means I past my goal of 175 and I get a new living room set!!!! Still havent bought any new clothes but I dont want to waste money. I would much rather wait until I hit my goal and buy LOTS of nice clothes.

16 months after my lapband surgery, I bought a size 14 dress today THAT FIT!!! It looks great, too. I also bought a size 16 in another style, and that's quite alright too. I was stuck in the 190's since last September, way too long. Two weeks ago I decided to try something I never had before, and joined Caloriecount.com. I've been tracking my calories, activity, and Water, and in the last 2 weeks I lost 5 pounds. I must be on to something.

So... it's almost with a heavy heart that I make this announcement. BUT I don't want to get ahead of myself, so I'll suppress those feelings for awhile. Let me cut to the chase here. Ever since I've been working for my current employer and I've discovered a certain position, I've had my keen eye on it. Always hoping, praying that when the day it comes available, I would stand half a chance of it. It turns out that day has come. I've found out through the grapevine that as of September the person who holds the position will be retiring. Anyhow, here's how the Lord really works in mysterious ways... I was curious to find out if this rumor was true. I didn't want t…

My fiancé and I have been engaged about 7 years. We were due to be married in june in Hawaii, then my soon-2-be mom in law fell I'll in hospital in march. When she showed no sign of getting better in time for the wedding, we postponed it. We got pregnant a couple weeks later. My mother in law past away that October. Then life just got in the way. We had a new baby and I got huge! I got pregnant again when our daughter was 1 and a 1/2. I really felt that NEED to be married, so I bought another dress and was due to be married when I was 6.5 months preggers. Then my fiancée's dad fell ill. Once again, we postponed it while he went through chemotherapy. He past away when my …

I met my first major goal - getting to onederland!!!! I stalled just over 200 for over 3 weeks - so for those of you stalled & frustrated, hang in there! I'm almost 4 weeks out & have released 48 lbs. I'd say lost it but I don't want to find it ever again Getting back in the ones for the first time in over ten years has given me a much needed boost of confidence.

Okay, we can all agree that the first and foremost benefit of weight loss surgery is the health benefits. But that being said, the second greatest benefit(to me at least) was that for the very first time in my life I was able to shop in the normal size sections of the clothing store, and for the first time in my life I actually had choices in style, and for the first time in my life I actually saw the person who I always though I was in the mirror...not the caricature that stole my image for the last half a century. I think I speak for all of us on this one. By the time I had lost 50 pounds I had to throw out all my clothing, everything, the only thing I was able to s…

I am scheduled for surgery on Tuesday. I'm having it done in Tijuana with Dr. Ortiz I am very nervous because I am 5'7" tall I weigh 170 pounds and my BMI is only 29. Most of my extra weight is all around my middle. I'm terrified of losing too much weight and dying I don't want to get too skinny. Is there anyone who's had the surgery with the seminar BMI as me? If so please let me know what happened with you and your situation. Thanks everyone

Hi guys - Just wanted to share because I thought many of you could relate. Over the Easter weekend we wanted to take pictures of the family. There are literally years and years of photos in our family albums WITHOUT me in the pictures (I always offer to take the pictures) because I didn't want to ever be photographed. Too painful to see those pictures. Well, this weekend, I found myself jumping in and asking my daughter to take a picture of me and the hubby. First time in soooo long I've found myself OK with that! I have a long way to go until I feel entirely comfortable on film, but I thought it was a good sign that my mind is changing and I'm liking myself a lit…

After studying before and after face pictures of so many other people, I secretly wondered, if after losing the weight if I would feel like my nose was too big or my eyes would be enormormous, or suddenly I would have massive wrinkles where fat once was. So I was pleasantly surprised with my little comparison. More evidence that when you gain weight it affects every part of your body!! Amazing isn't it? 11 Months Post-Op

I was putting together a digital photo album from a trip I took to Ireland in October. I started to get frustrated because my friend had taken this great picture, but some skinny woman was standing in the middle of it, ruining the shot. I looked at the picture at least five times before I realized the skinny woman ruining my picture was ME! LOL.

I just thought this might encourage some of you who are in the 3rd week stall. I too experienced this and this week ( week 4) I changed up my exercise routine and increased my calories by 200 which brought me up to 800 a day. I am happy to report a two pound loss this week. It isn't a huge number but it s a loss not a gain. So on that note Happy Monday!!

My surgery was 02/29 and I'm down 46 lbs. In my 26 years I have never lost this amount of weight. I am so exited and it is amazing to see results. Everyone is telling me that they can tell I'm losing. At this point I still do not see it. My start weight was 356 so 46 lbs is small in the grand scheme of things, but huge at the same time! I can feel that my clothes are a little looser. Also I have reached my very first NSV goal. My wedding ring fits!!! I was so excited to be able to put it on. I can eat more than I thought I would be able to, but still NOWHERE near what I used to. I'm so happy that I got the surgery. Sometimes I want to walk up to overweight people and tell…

So, yesterday made 7 months post-op. I just got a chance to take a couple of quick pics, in other words, don't mind the lack of hairstyle and dressier clothes. I've been exercising all along, but in the last month I have really ramped it up. I'm doing at least 30 minutes on the exercise bike per day, plus trying to work some other area of my body with weights on a daily basis. Below is my before and my today picture. I REALLY wish I had a better before picture! Stats: Start weight: 352 Surgery weight: 337 Current weight: 263.2 Total lost: 88.2 I've been losing VERY slowly since late January, but I'm seeing improvement in my shape and feeling more energetic every…

Well it's been 4 months last thursday since my surgery and so much has changed. Lost 96 pounds so far, 3x shits to xl, 44 pants to 34, and the energy level is thru the roof. I still get sick when I eat or should I say feeling of upset stomach and sometimes I vomit, but other than that, I'm great! Wish I could of had this surgery 5 years ago. It's also fun to shop for new cloths. LOL
