I would like to hear some success stories that are a year out and how much weight they have

It has been one year since my surgery. This has been the best year of my life. when I started this I was 460 pounds. July of 2010 I was 450 when I went to the surgeons office for the first time. April 7, 2011 I was 410 pound the day of surgery. So I have lost 176 since surgery and 226 total. I have 54 pounds to go. things are slowing down and I went to my surgeon yesterday for my one year visit and he says this is normal. That I need to bump things up though with excercise and watching extra caerefully but he is very impressed with what I have done already. This forum has helped a great deal , and showed me the sleeve does work. I was suppose to get the DS surgery and when he went in I had very bad gaul stones stuck to my adominal wall and he needed to take care of that and was afraid of infestion so I got the sleeve instead. I was upset at first but got over it and joined this forum and saw that the sleeve does work. i am very happy now for the sleeve instead of the DS. Dr. G says that i could of had the rest of the surgery this year but he said that I was so successfull with the sleeve that I don't need it. I am determined to loose this last 54 more pounds but in the meantime I feel great. I am 50 years young and feel 20 again, I have been given my life back.

My sleeve-aversary is coming up on April 18, so I'm 1 week shy of 1 year out. :-) So far, down 118 pounds from morning of surgery, 149 overall (I can't believe I just typed that). Seems so unreal, in a way. Everything about how I eat is different now, in a good way--I can honestly say I ate like a kid without any sort of remote attempt at nutrition before (except for the 2 years of veganism, LOL). Now, I am very aware of everything I put into my mouth, but without freaking out about it. I enjoy food even more than before, and I still feel fabulous after eating (not sleepy and sluggish because of too much of the wrong kinds of food!).

My husband and I are both sleevers, and it's been really fun to sort of transform ourselves into healthier, thinner people. The biggest change I have found is that I am less worried about being "in the way," as I am no longer so self-conscious about my weight. I also really love being able to dress in cute styles instead of my former "wardrobe," and I use that term loosely. I also find that other people really do treat me differently at this weight; men have literally run ahead of me in order to get to a door to open it (and I am not a petite young thing, at 6'2" and almost 50 years old!).

So I say, if this surgery feels right for you, go for it! It's a great tool, a very useful, long-term tool. I am so grateful for the chance to live longer and feel better about life--all due to the sleeve!

I am 14 months post-op. I started at 232 and size 22-24 and now I weigh 138 and wear a size 6-8 (I am 5'8"). I'm not self-conscious anymore about how I look or what people might think when they see me buying food. When I bought anything that wasn't "diet" I used to think that people would be saying to themselves, "Look at the size of her and buying ice cream! She doesn't need to eat that!" Two weeks ago I bought four boxes of Easter candy for my nieces and nephews and the thought never entered my mind what people would think because obviously, from my outside appearance, I wasn't going to eat it all. (I could have, slowly, but I wouldn't. I like being thin too much.)

It's just such a change from before--

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
