Hi everyone! I just wanted to stop by and share this crazy NSV. I was with my mom and husband, we were at a dealership looking around. The sales man approached and asked if he could assist. I was looking at a truck and my mom an husband were looking at a sedan. Well my mom joined me and my husband was talking with the salesman.( Anyway to shorten this story) the salesman thought my mom and husband were married and I was their daughter. When my husband revealed that I was in fact his wife the salesman responded, "lucky you" I was laughing so hard it was awesome!! My mom was shaking her head. I'm 46 my husband is 55 and my mom is 76. All I have to say is priceless.

This guy tripped and fell staring at me the other day lol. He got up and said to me, "you are soooo beautiful"! I told him thank you, and he just kept following me around the store (a little weird lol)- I had to turn him down, I'm going on 8 years with my BF but it was still very cute. It's funny how these things happen when you start losing weight- I haven't dealt with such things since high school lol. P.S. I attached a new pic :smile1: All smiles! Loving the new me :smile1:

Had a GREAT time out with girlfriends Friday night singing karaoke and having a few cocktails. I saw some friends I hadn't seen in a while, so of course they were very complimentary of my weight loss (and I was embarrassed). I finally decided to wear a tucked-in shirt with my jeans and new belt . . . I'm still a little pudgy in front but still pretty happy about it. I felt really great the whole night!

Yesterday I went with a friend who was sleeved yesterday. She had other friends there whom I did not know. They were concerned for her because they knew nothing of this surgery. I explained to them she will be fine because I also had the surgery from the same doc. They started laughing and said oh now that explains it cause girlfriend we were just discussing amonst ourselves that we don't know who this girl is but her dress is too big for her and she needs some new clothes lol.

This is my first post here but I've really enjoyed reading everyone's posts so thought it was time to stop lurking! I am 28 years old and live in Sydney, Australia. I had my surgery seven months ago today and I just can't believe how much my life has changed in that time. My starting weight was 280 pounds and my goal was 165 pounds (to give me a healthy BMI). My surgeon said he would be happy if I got to 187 pounds. I am so pleased to report that as of today I am 152 pounds and still going down. The last time I weighed this much I was in sixth grade!! I am now fitting comfortably into an Australian size 8 (a US 4). I do however need to stop losing weight now as I'm st…

  8. but exactly 5 months ago today I left 85% of my stomach in Frankfurt, Germany. Now here I am in Hilo, Hawaii, half way around the world and I don't want it back!!! For the most part, at 5 months post-op, I feel great! Just posted my Sunday update to give you an idea of what things look like (for me anyway) at 5 months post op. A few 'hair challenges; but other than that, all is good. Hope everyone is having a great weekend! Queen of Crop www.queenofcrop.com A YEAR IN THE LIFE OF A SLEEVER; UPDATED EVERY SUNDAY

Hi all, I've been hovering around goal for weeks but today I am finally, officially there! I weighed 134.5 this morning. It's not my normal weigh in day, but I said the day I get to goal, that's the day I declare it! Time to join the maintenance threads!!!! I'm loving my new life. Over the course of this, I have spent time worrying I would never get to goal so it is extra sweet that I am here! During the last 10 months I have learned: How to walk with my knees closer together and my back straight because I'm not carrying 100+ extra pounds everywhere I go. Tracking food and Water can be easy: I use a white board on my fridge door. I have to have a group exerc…

Ok, so here in the Uk we have a charity called sport relief, and one of their national events is a mile long fun run (tiny, I know). Mid week I decided I had to do it, so my 8 yo and I signed up thursday, yesterday my DH and 4yo son decided to walk it, and make it a family event, and today we did it!! I know its a tiny step, but puffing and panting across that finish line hand in hand with my daughter was the greatest feeling!! 11 mins 50 sec is hardly athletic, but we did it, and in sporting terms it is the only thing I've completed in all of my 32 years! My daughter and I are going to put our names down for a 5k in june, I've bee…

I read this forum a lot prior to getting my band, and I thought it would be good to post an update for those who are waiting/deciding/nervous. I am very happy with my band. I started at 250, and 3 months and a few days later, I'm down to 217. It has been a very smooth process. My constant hunger is gone. I feel in control of my eating. I can eat pretty much whatever I want as long as I go slow and chew. I don't try to diet at all -- I just go with what feels right and good to eat, and so far, so good. Anyway, just thought I'd add to the success stories here. I still have a ways to go, but I'm feeling so much better and am very happy with my decision to get a b…

Having the lapband was the best decision I ever made for myself. It has not been easy by any means and I work but butt off at the gym daily but it is worth it. For anyone that is scared of the procedure it can be done although the first few days are tough and just plain uncomfortable. Good luck to everyone on ur journey! Ok, so leave it to me to get excited about a bra but I pulled out my old bra this morning to see if it'd go around me and it fits! I haven't had a real bra on in ages and these are my favorite Wacol bras. Such a great feeling. One strange thing is how different my body is. I was about 250 when I got pregnant with my son. I'm inching toward 220 and am much thicker in the waist than I was at 220 before- at least how I remember it! Thank you sleeve!

I didn't do anything different than I had been doing since the beginning, and today the scale had moved AAAAANNNNDDDD I'm now in Two-WhateverLand!!!! I've been at 300 all this time, and lo and behold!! I'm at 296!! YES!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNDDDD...... I zipped and buttoned a pair of jeans that I haven't worn in years, and two weeks ago they did not fit. I got smaller during the stall, so have heart all you fellow stalled out people! Keep doing what you're doing and it will happen. Here's a couple pics from the beginning to now. 44 lbs later...Do you think there's a difference? (They stacked in the wrong order :/)

So I have not really been one this site much over the last few months, but it was the place that got me started on this fantastic journey so a progress report is in order! One year ago today I have VSG. I would do it again in a heartbeat and recommend it for soooo many people out there with this struggle. It has not been the easiest thing ever, and I still have battles with overeating, food addictions, and lack of self control, but I have overall made changes that have literally turned my life into complete awesomeness. Seriously. I started with my consultation weighing 246 pounds, and today I weighed in at 145.5 pounds. Yep, 100 pounds in one year, which was a majo…

Finally! After almost a 3 week stall it broke this morning and I am at 198.2!!!!! It is WONDERFUL in ONEderland!!! These 13-15 pounds that I have been dealing with for about 4-5 months (when I actually tipped 199) have drove me craaazy! I am here to tell everyone that the stalls DO break and as frustrating as it was DURING the stall, stepping on that scale and FINALLY seeing it MOVE is soooooo REFRESHING!!!!!!!!!!!! So everyone that is about 5 1/2 weeks out.... tie a knot at the end of your rope and hang in there, this too shall pass if you are in a stall!!!! ALWAYS KEEP ROCKIN' YOUR SLEEVE!!!! XOXOXOX! Amy

  22. I have to say, I am simply amazed by this journey thus far! I wanted to post my story (in a condensed version) for those of you who are thinking about getting this procedure or have just begun your journey. I have been overweight for as long as I can remember. I just ate what I wanted, and enjoyed it very much. I had little to no concern about my health. I remember in middle school, I would sit in my bedroom closet just eating a can of icing. How disturbing is that?! I finally started thinking about WLS about a year ago. My highest weight was 259 LBS. Although I didn't have any health issues, I had began to miss my monthly visitor (sorry for the TMI). This really concern…

WARNING: This is a bit long winded! I decided to post this in two parts, first a celebration of the success I have had since surgery: - Lost 64 lbs and feel pretty amazing! - Don't sweat excessively any more (was a huge problem for me before) - My shoe size has gone from tight wide width to average width. I can buy any shoes I want! Yipee! - I have donated about 6 large bags of clothes I will never see again - When I go to my favorite store I can shop where I want instead of seeking out Women's World (what a crap name). - Wearing a size 12 down from 1x/2x - I am no longer invisible. People actually look at me and make eye contact with me on an elevator…

So my pre-op and transition post-op clothes are finally all given away except for maybe a couple of pairs of jeans that are a little too big. Most of the too big shoes have left the building. I have new, smaller bracelets and I'm getting my favorite rings resized. But I finally realized yesterday what is wrong with my necklaces: my neck is skinnier and they now hang too low! Guess I'm going to have to buy a couple of shorter chains for my pendants too! Oh, my, the struggles of weight loss :-) Lynda

I had my surgery in November of 2007. I waited a few months from the time that I met my surgeon and when I had the surgery done. I literally couldn't wait for surgery date because I knew that sooner I had it done, the sooner I would be on way to regaining my life. I was depressed and letting life pass me by. My job prospects were nil, dating prospects even worse and I was unhappy at the core. At that point, I couldn't even remember/imagine what a happy and healthy life was like. I weighed in at 314 lbs on surgery day but had probably been as high 330-340 in the months/years prior. About a year prior to my surgery I was having issues with my heart and put on meds. Basica…

I watch for sales and clearance. I find my heart actually races when I am in the dressing room seeing if I fit into something and I really do! Plus all the energy I have lately WOW I walked for 1.5 miles today which is awesome for me. Need to get dinner going and plan on cleaning out a flower bed after dinner. Luv my sleeve! I know a thread like this has been done in the past, but it's sort of buried these days. Plus, I'd rather see how far away you are from surgery (rather than knowing the date of your surgery), so I don't have to calculate the duration myself. I'd also like you to complete the second portion, as I think that will help put it all into perspective. I feel like my loss was a fantastic success, 8 months 273lbs to 158; 311 at my heavest. I started at 295 and I'm down to 261 (10 lbs preop) well anyway I noticed that I've been on a stall for the last week :-( also my Dr hasn't cleared me for any real exercise yet. My surgery went great no real pain no meds to take home afterwards so I've been blessed. I went back too work 4 days after surgery (stayed in the hospital 2 days). I'm thinking I should start an exercise routine. Any suggestions?

  46. Decided on a Friday night dinner out with the hubby. First time I've been out and I was a little curious as to how it would go. We went to our favorite local diner. First GREAT thing...I fit in the booth!!!!!!! There were about 3 inches of space between me and the table!!!!! I had about 4 clams from his clam chowder and ordered an appetizer of crab stuffed mushroom. It came with three pretty big mushrooms with about 1/2 cup of crab meat heaped on top. I could only eat one!!!!! Everything tasted so yummy. I ate slowly and enjoyed just enough but not too much. Now I have the other two mushrooms in the fridge for tomorrow. LOVE this new way of eating!!!!!

My rational mind says keep going for it but after hearing the plastic surgeon speak today at my support grp, I came home crazy and full of doubts. Although I cannot predict the future, I figure at my age (54 in a month) and the amt of wt I want to lose (100#), I will need at least 5 cosmetic surgeries???? to look the way I want to look afterwards. I am not gonna cancel my surgery by no means, but I feel extra scared today. Any advice or bits of wisdom anyone? Sent from my iPad using VST
