Hi, All Its been 3 months now and the time is zooming by. I have been eating normal food no for sometime. Basically I do not eat bread products as it fills me up tooo fast and leaves me feeling BLAH.. I will have an slice of pizza somtimes but do not eat the crust. meat is my best friend. It feels the best going down ( especially beef, like steak )... If I had a choice on what to eat every meal I would grab the meat first!!!... I can eat fresh veggies and stuff but if it doesnt chew down to a mushy consistancy then i dont eat very much of it at all. I do have an occasional soda once in awhile but never with food because the bubbles come out to burp but food gets caugh…

It's hard to believe but I got my band 4 years ago. I am down between 75-80 pounds overall. (Of course I want to lose those extra 10-20-25 lbs, but if I just stay where I am, I am ok too.) I love my band and can't imagaine life without it. In this time a lot of things have happened, as they always do. First, I had breast cancer, which came with chemo, a mastectomy, radiation, reconstruction etc. But through it all, I happily kept the band. I had only one hurdle with it though... after the mastectomy I had a wicked reaction to the anesthesia so after heaving for hours in the recovery room, the band was dislodged and I had to have a "revision." Unfortunately the ne…

Got the biggest kick today! Just realized I now really actually weigh what my drivers license says I weigh! Hopefully by the time I renew, I can (probably for the first time in my life) tell the truth about my weight and it will be lower than it is right now. It's a good day!

No saddness at all in this one! I have a pair of boots my hubby gave me as a Christmas present either in '08 or '09 and they were just the most funky plaid boots with leather steel toes and leather heels, a leather tongue and a leather strap and came up to my knees. He ordered them from a cosplay boutique in Japan when he was in Tokyo and didn't think about how small stuff ran (like that was why they didn't fit, lol)..and yup! They wouldnt fit at all. I got them out last week and wore them with a LBD and he grinned from ear to ear! The LBD happed to be about two sizes too big, but it was an empire waisted dress, so I kinda pulled it off, still. I am actually reorderin…

As of 3/14/2012 it has now been one year since I joined the losers bench. It has been such a joy. I love being able to run a mile without dying over. Shopping in the juniors section again and ordering from ebay without fear of not being able to wear the items. I've gone from a size 18/20 didn't want to admit it 22. To a size four I even bought a size 1/2 and was able to wear it. I can feel my bone structure in my ribs and it feels weird. The only thing I would change is not exercising regularly. I have alot of loose skin in my inner thighs which is not appealing for bathing suit action. I have lost a total of 93lbs I went from 230lbs o 137. For those of you on the fen…

I have my 1 year appointment on March 26th and I feel like I need to start over on the nutruition side of things. Somewhere in the last 3 months I have gotten completely off track. I lost my nutrution info from my doctor's office to boot! Any input on how I can get a good 10 lbs off by then and get re-energized into this journey? I tried talking to a friend about it but she doesn't understand because she doesn't have a weight issue or the band. I'm really frustrated and thought I would reachout to fellow bandsters. Any input on a daily routine that makes you successful? Thanks.

I had my surgery on march 1st so I'm almost 2 weeks post up. I have lost 15 lbs since surgery and 50 since I started on my weight loss journey in Jan 2011. When I went back to class from spring break someone said to me "Wow ur face is really slimming up" and I've also been getting so many compliments from ppl I haven't seen. I can slowly see the change in my face and body and I'm just super excited. Those little things, like comments from ppl or a glance in the mirror as you pass by feel soo good! Throughout the day I genuinely feel just more happy overall. I'm so glad I took this journey and even though it's just the start it feels so good. Just wanted to share. Y…

Well I finally plucked up the courage to join a face to face bariatric support group yesterday, and it was great!! Most people were pre-op, so I got a few slightly puzzled looks when I walked in, but when I explained who I was and why I was there someone said to me "Thank you so much for joining us, you are what we all want to become". In my logical mind I know I am at goal, but I was so shocked to hear it. I'll definitely stick with the group, I'm hoping it will start to help me cut through some of the psychological issues! Thanks for listening x

This is just surreal. I've read the stories of those that lost 100 pounds or more on this site and thought I would NEVER EVER be writing that post myself. But here I am!!!!. This morning I officially broke the seal and crossed over the 100 pound mark. I just cannot believe it. Life sure is different in so many ways - and being told how fantastic I look, and being hit on by cute guys, is a whole new thing and feels pretty good (I'm married so it's just harmless attention . ) I love this site and all the supportive people on here. We are all in this together and need to be there for each other as no one else truly knows what we are going through. THANK YOU to everyo…

14 months ago I embarked on an incredible journey. I have struggled with severe depression since my early teens and, like most, I took to eating as a coping mechanism. Throughout the years I have tried many diets. All of which were soon abandoned within the first couple of weeks. Towards the end of 2009 I had an injury and knew exactly what the cause was. The gavel in my mind slammed down. It was time to make a change and change for good, even if that meant taking drastic measures. I had always been against any form of weight loss surgery. Thinking, "Why can’t you just lose weight like everyone else on a normal diet?" I finally caught myself in a huge pit of denial. A…

So I haven't seen the scale move in about three weeks. This can be somewhat discouraging considering I only have 11lbs to goal. However, my cloths are getting bigger and bigger. I'm in a 5-7 jean now and it is a little strange for me I have to say. I don't know that I want to get much smaller. Is that weird? I'm at a normal healthy weight. I am exercising now and my muscles are toning up very nicely. I started this because I wanted to get healthy and I know I can still lose more but I don't want to start looking sick, drawn up, and old. Here are some before and afters. Tell me what you think. The last three are from today.... In the last one I was only trying to giv…

Hey All! I'm one month out from surgery today, and I just want to share my loss so far. Who am I kidding, I just need some attention today! So here it is: Weight: From 340 to 300 (40 lbs.) Neck: 1" Upper Arms: 1" on each arm Forearms: 1" Chest (both measurements): 2 1/2" and 3 1/2" Waist: 3" OH YEAH! Hips: 5" (FIVE INCHES!! WOO HOO!) Thighs: 3" !!! Calves: 1" Ankles: 1" Yes, even my ankles!! And, my 10 ww shoes that I could barely wear are loose WITH thick socks on!! So, in 4 weeks a lot can happen. My weight stalled this week, so while i'm waiting for the next drop, the measurements help. --danielle

Yesterday was my 6 mo. surgiversary date and, oh, how life has changed... At my highest weight I was 238 - I lost 33 lbs. before my pre-op diet, then 10 on pre-op diet, and now another 48 since surgery for a total of 91 pounds gone forever At 5'7, I'm just 5 lbs. from my personal goal of 140 I have gone from not wanting to get off the couch to regularly hiking 5 miles several days a week (and enjoying it!). I'm doing a 10 mile hike Sunday! I eat about 1000 calories a day and I'm fully satisfied with that amount of food Instead of a size 16-18 and 1x, I'm a size 4-6 pants and small tops I love to shop for clothes now I'm far more social and enjoy getting out and par…

Sooo, after a long day yesterday,I decided to take a rest on the couch. So I curl up and turn on The Bachelor finale. =) My 2 yr old daughter jumps up on the couch with me and curls up right next to me,and fits!! I have NEVER been able to cuddle on the couch with my babies right beside me,I was too big to fit with them before..It took me until commercial break to realize lol,but when I did I almost cried-I just hugged my babygirl so tight!!!! I love love love my sleeve,so much! I have lost 43 pounds combined since starting my pre-op diet to now(6 1/2 weeks post-op) and have gone down 2 pants sizes! Lovin it! =)

I know for a fact that I spent 10 years struggling with a full-blown eating disorder. It took on a lot of different forms: super restrictive dieting in high school, followed by long stretches of all-out binging in college, then coupled with periods of bulimia and laxative abuse while desperately trying not to gain so much weight from the binges. I started dieting in middle school and would go to eat alone at lunchtime with my salad so as not to be tempted by the junk food in the cafeteria. At 15, I did Herbalife and started kickboxing and lost 50 pounds. Kept it off for about 9 months and then PACKED it back on with carbs and ice cream. It was like a nightmare, putting th…

Finally figured out how to use Picasa, so have created a collage of; my 30th (pre-op, but not yet at my biggest) , my 31st (2months post op), and my 32nd last week (at goal). I'm thinking it might be true about women and fine wine getting better with age you know!

I've been a size 22 since I was 18...and just this weekend I wore my first pair of size 14 jeans! What an incredible feeling! I shopped at Express and the size large was too big...I've been buying shirts from the "skinny girl" stores too. It's so strange....sometimes I look in the mirror and I see the same person but clearly I'm not. Even my feet are smaller - I don't wear wide width anymore and I can actually wear heels without my feet hurting. I just had to share my excitement!! I'm only 12 lbs from hitting the 100's!!!

My jeans are to big already! And I went to Walmart...just looking around in the clothes to see what's out there for when I need to buy a few staples...and I found this really cute black and white printed maxi dress in a size 22/24...only one they had. So I bought it. Came home, tried it on..just to see how much more I needed to lose for it to fit...and holy balls it fits!!!!! Have to wear a smoothing garment under it...but it fits!!!!

July 2011 I was over 290. I knew I was never going to fly again to vacation anywhere unless I drove or bought a extra seat plane seat. Then I had the Sleeve! Now March 2012 at 179 pounds my wife & I will be going to Vegas for our 40th year married in July. With out the sleeve I would not even had thought of this. We have been before but last time the seat was very uncomfortable. I did tell the wife "me going to a buffett was like a eunuch going to a ***** house. The eyes take in the pleasure, but that's all we can do."

I I've decided I want to run a 5k before my surgery which will probably be in a few months. I am very excited for surgery and I want to prove to myself that I can run a 5k. I just finished my 2nd day first week of training. It is such an empowering feeling when your running knowing that your in control of your body and how far you can push yourself. Is there anyone else doing the c25k?

Ok, so after a fairly dramatic fall down the stairs back in December (skinned knees, 1 broken toe and torn rotator cuff - ouch!), I FINALLY got my 1st physio appointment yesterday. I arrive, and to my horror the physio is like an adonis (who I have to be undressed in front of - eek!). So I'm blushing away, and he starts to run through the standard questions; ethnicity, religion, allergies, height, WEIGHT! Immediately I think, oh no, what should I round it down to (I've never answered that question without knocking at least a stone off the real answer)??? Then after a moment of hesitation, I realised I didn't have to lie. The truth is fine!!! This NSV felt quite…

I weighed myself this morning (I've finally gotten to where I only weigh myself every few days/once a week). I looked down and it said 199!!!! I made my 12 year old daughter come in and weigh herself to make sure that the scale wasn't going crazy, and she looks at me funny when I'm so excited for 199 again. Had to explain to her that it was a milestone, a huge huge huge milestone!! I went shopping for an outfit for a job interview next week and was competely out of my element in the "normal" size sections! My 2 younger daughters were having a blast helping me pick out tops. My only problem is that my chest hasn't caught up to my upper stomach for weight loss, so if some…

Hey all! I am curious if anyone has Fibromyalgia and has been sleeved? I am getting mine end of April :-) In my experience of gaining wt, I have noticed a huge difference in how much pain Im in on a daily basis by every few pounds I pack on. So all you sleeve vets, has your fibro improved? worsened? How did you feel post op? Any info appreciated!! :-) THANKS!

And it's Onederful! This is my first goal post op. I'm almost 3 months out. I started at 236 and today I'm 199.2. I feel great and don't regret my decision.

Per request (LOL)... I've attached pictures from last night's event (I don't know how to make them small.. SORRY)... I had sooo much fun!!! These are my NSVs from last night... My dress is 3 sizes smaller that what I would have purchased in November!! I did not struggle to put on "cheap" pantyhose for the first time in my life!!! I bought them from Walgreens.. 3 bucks!!! Not 20!!! I wore my heels for over 6 hours... (They are too big... they 2" peep toe slings... in the last hole!!) I wasn't dropped off at the door, we parked towards the back of this huge lot and I walked to the place and then to the car afterwards I was complimented all night about my dress and pe…

Something really really funny and cool happened to me this morning! Me and my brother were at a cafe talking and catching up on stuff and a few minutes later his friend (whom i know well but haven't seen for about a year) comes over and sits down. There were no introductions just "hi" and "hello" as my brother and i did not have a slightest doubt he would not recognise me!! So when i realised what had happened i chuckled and decided to see how long it would take for him to actually know who i was! Guess what? We talked for about an HOUR and he had no idea!! He thought i was a friend and not even related to my brother!! When we decided to leave my brother dropped the…

These are my pictures six months after surgery. It had been going well. Still a low of learning on my part but I am happy! I have lost 131 pounds! I went from a size 30/32 down to a 14/16 short and an 18 pants.... So excited! Just wanted to drop in and show some pics.

I never thought... anyway I received a PM from a dear friend on Facebook this morning and she told me she was playing around on Google. She did a Search for Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy Before and After... lo and behold I'm on there. There's actually 2 of me that I found but this is the best one. Again, I never thought I'd become famous over this!!! HAAA!!! Have a blessed Sunday everyone!!!

I'm a performer (singer and wannabe actress), but my weight killed my confidence so I pretty much stopped going to auditions. About 5 years ago, I had professional headshots taken that were the final nail in my theatre coffin. They are, without a doubt, the worst pictures I've ever intentionally posed for. That includes drunken Vegas pictures, sweaty end-of-the-day at Disneyland pictures, everything. THE WORST. On Saturday, I had new headshots taken by a friend who isn't a professional. The new pictures aren't the same quality as the pro pics, but they're still worlds better. I have my sleeve to thank for making me feel and look better. If you're still on the fence abou…

I got my band Sept 2010. I was approx 398lbs. Now about a year and a half later I am 330lbs. Many would consider this a failure, but I actually feel my surgery was a success. Here is why: I have much more energy than I did before If I had not had the surgery I would be either or very close to being significanly immobile I would most likely weigh well into the 400's as my pattern was gaining about 20 a year and then 50-60 when my life was stressful. I got fired from my job in December 2010 and that would have sent me into a food tail spin It is easier for me to get clothes and even shoes as my feet have gone from a 9extra wide to an 8.5 wide or even regular depen…

How long did the severe post op fatigue last?
-
I had a nervous breakdown this weekend. It is so stupid, but I was deeply distraught, and I don't know what happened. I am 5'11" I went to get my body fat done and the woman measured me and she said you are 71 inches. I just said her height thing was wrong, and I am 70 inches. I have been 70 inches since I can remember. So I go to my grandmother's and my aunt measures me. I am 71 inches!!!!!!!!! When did this happen? I mean NOT ONE DOCTOR ever said 71 inches. I can't really recall when the last time I was actually measured. I am not 5'10" I am 5'11" I am a GIANT. And I lost 100 pounds as of TODAY!

I was starting to wonder if this day would ever come. I have reached my goal of 199 lbs. after 9.5 months. I did not think in a million years I would be in onederland once again. I have lost a total of 116 lbs and I am in better health now than when I was in my early twenties. My blood sugar has been normal since my surgery and all my blood numbers are in the normal range including my cholesterol which is 160. My blood pressure is normal and I take no medication of any kind. This is a NSV and a Scale victory all wrapped up in one. My sleeve has definately been a life changer for me.

I hope that I don't have to be a year out, 10 pounds under goal, or wearing size 0 jeans to be considered a success, but, by golly, I feel like one. No matter what program I've been on in the past, it took me 6 months to lose 50 pounds. There was no difference between Weight Watchers, medically-supervised fasting, the "crap" band, or PhenFen. 50 pounds equaled 6 months. Well, tomorrow is my 12 weeks, and I'm down 47 pounds. I haven't hit a stall yet (I know that I will). My hair is thinning a bit, but I've been through that before with childbirth and illness. I'm finally into a size 16, as in "off-the-rack" at regular clothing stores. I eat small quantities of healthy …

I had surgery 4/17/2009. I was 217 and lost about 30 the first year and was very disappointed. It was a very slow process. I continued to lose, but very slowly. I had about 5 fills and did feel much restriction. I continue to lose weight, but very slowly. Then in decemember of 2011 I had a fill and started taking Vitamins. I have not had fill since 12/2011 and been at 140 or less for the past year!! I love my lap band!!!! I wear a size 8 or 10 is great!!! I would do it again in a heartbeat! My Mom was worried about my health, but not now!!! J
