  1. Started by FLHgal,

Coming up on my 6 months. I have lost 70 pounds and am finally in UNDERLAND. This has been exciting and rewarding in so many ways. Fills went great...had 1 overfill and that was painful. Went from a 24W in jeans to a 14 regular. My husband banded the same week and is down 79 pounds. Life is good....

  3. I do high intensity Water aerobics most every Tuesday and Thursday. On Tuesday, my swimsuit about fell off (I bought it in February when I was still about a 24W or thereabouts) so when I saw that Macys had clorine resistant suits for 50% off I had to snap one up. I was so excited to pick a black suit with hot pink trim including a zipper up the front! My inner thighs are gross so I wear these sorta bicycle short things under the suit. the total effect isn't too hideous. The suit I had before was a tankini worn with shorts which was great at first, but when it got too big, it was a little bit of a train wreck. It did cover my thighs, but I was in danger of stepping out …

Let me say, I love SLEEVINA!!! She's saved my life.. but I have to admit she SLAYS me sometimes... but keeps me in line!!! Regrets:... Just 1.. well, maybe 2... first, I wish I would have worked a little hard during my 6 month MSWL program.. especially with exercise... the only other regret is that I wasn't open with a lot of my family and friends from the beginning, thus missing out of their support from the beginning... Reality:... LOL... well, I'm not the same person I w…

So I have noticed that my clothes were getting loose and things seemed to be getting smaller on my body but that dang scale was not budging. I was discouraged big time. Then came my gallbladder surgery last week Friday and I had all the fluids and swelling so I have been in the dumps for a while. I was wondering what gives. Then this morning I step on the scale and IT MOVED DOWN!!!! 155! I'm so happy!!! I know it's just one pound but that how it starts and by the end of 7 days I know I will be down at least 5!!

  10. So as of 8 this morning I am 198.8!!!! I have been waiting for this day for 8 years. My VSG journey started 70 days ago and I am down 38 pounds. I am so happy I made this decision to change my life for the better. To all the "newbies" out there this journey you are on is long and at times hard but I am halfway to my goal in only a little over 2 months and the struggles and soreness from exercise could not be more worth it. I am so grateful for this forum where I can share my successes! Next big scale victory 50 lbs!!!

Had my first NSV yesterday. As I was getting ready for work, I put on a pair of slacks that were rather tight before surgery. I pulled them on, zipped them up, and they promptly fell to the ground! I laughed out loud as I was thinking about the YouTube video of the grandpa singing the Pants on the Ground rap song. This is a great memory for my first NSV.

Some of you know that I have a DVT (blood clot) and two pulmonary embolisms before surgery because of pneumonia. You might remember that I've been on coumadin since last June because of those clots. I had an appt with my pulmonary doctor yesterday and he told me that I could refuse to continue taking the coumadin. He couldn't NOT prescribe it because my test results still say I'm high on clot factor, but with my weight loss and activity level, he wouldn't argue with me if I refused the medicine, so I refused it. As a precautionary measure, he ordered an ultrasound of my legs, the site of the blood clot before. I had that ultrasound today and my legs are not only clot f…

I have secretly been wanting to run into a certain ex-boyfriend of mine. I dated him for awhile before I had my surgery and he told a friend of mine after we broke up that the reason we broke up was because I was fat. Not that he had a problem with it but that I had the problem with it and I was miserable about it. He told her that if I wanted to do something about it I could and just not eat as much. hahhahhahaha! We all know how easy that is. So I haven't seen him in nearly a year and ran into him yesterday. He took a double take before he realized who I was and walked over to speak to me. The weird thing is no words came out of his mouth. He just stood there looking a…

At first I thought he was someone else, but when I asked, he said no, but he's a Dr Domkowski patient, too. That's when I realized I was talking to Mr. J!!! I've been following his journey here and on You Tube, and I knew he lived here in Vero, but I was stunned to actually see him in person! BTW, Mr. J seriously needs to update his pic on here! Saw 198.8 on the scale yesterday morning, let out a loud "Whoo Hoo!" that scared my cats and husband half to death! But he knew exactly what it was, gave me a great big hug, told me he's "so proud of me" and cried with me a little. Haven't seen a "1" on the front of the scale in over seven years. This is heaven (I'd post a picture of the scale but it has a reflective surface and didn't want to share my unmentionables with the world!!)

A girl who lost the weight on her own and then gained it back said I was an inspiration when she saw my photos. I told her that is was the surgery, not me. I am grateful for the surgery, but I didn't have to do much to lose the weight except for have the surgery. I don't think it was an easy way out, but I don't want to be an inspiration. The surgery is a difficult decision to make and as long as you make the decision to do it you are now a risk taker and there is no reward without risk. I not an inspiration. I am a mirror that you look into giving you the vision to see that you can take the risk too.

I mean, I've been through it - the ups, the downs, the in-betweens... and I had even considered writing up a huge novel-like post to spell it all out. But life got in the way, and here I am today. Time got away from me and my project fell off the map. That's okay because I think that made the picture in my mind that I was trying to canvass a lot more clear. I'm seeing the forest for the trees now - and I have to tell you, the secret of my success is far more simple than I ever thought. Finally early thi…

I had a VSG with Dr. JOhn Feng of the Palo Alto Medical Foundation- my hero. I started this journey at 280 pounds, depressed, reclusive, hibernating and in constant pain. Last week I hit my surgeons goal of a normal BMI and 118 pounds lost....WOW! Still losing and am not sure where I will end up. I went from that reclusive existance to doing nine Zumba classes a week, 8 Water classes, walking three miles a day with my husband and dog. I am toned, energetic, ALIVE!!!! Hopefully I can inspire you and if you need a buddy, I'll try to help! I was banded in January of 2007 at 322 lbs. The first six months I was the model lap-band patient. Once I started a new job and new life, I basically blew off the whole process and I had a book of excuses. I'm looking back now and I was sooo not emotionally prepared for this (I was banded at 26 years old). You see people, food, and situations in a different light. The game is different now. First, a new-found self-respect. You see how perceptions have limited you over time. And then the veil is removed and everything changes. You have more self-confidence then you could have EVER imagined in your life. I'm at 8 weeks post (OK on TUESDAY I will be), but FINALLY get to add in fish, eggs, cheese and Beans. Oh Good Lord it's been a haul. I had salmon (all of about 1/4 cup) and it was wonderful!! Also had some chili. YUMMM! I know a lot of others have been eating this stuff since like week 2, but I vowed to follow my surgeon's orders and I made it! To be honest I think it helped to break a lot of my head hunger in the past 2 months....Hmmmm...maybe that's the method to their madness. Anyway, just wanted to share that I made it!!

  48. I've lost roughly 50 lbs over this past 5 months after surgery (yay!) and I've noticed a small to moderate amount of loose skin. My question is, does this ever just improve on it's own? In theory, I shouldn't be a "loose skin person"- I'm in my 20's, I have a personal trainer, I run, I have a diet almost entirely of veggies and protein now, and I'm decent about getting water in. Did things ever just snap back into place for anyone? I know for certain the loose skin on my formerly DD breasts is not going to retract- that I am certainly going to see my cosmetic surgeon about. I'd rather not have to resort to surgery for my abdominal skin, I am hoping that perhaps …

I spent most of today cleaning out my closet. I've got 8 big bags for Salvation Army! It was so much fun trying on clothes just to see that they hung on me! Today I ended up wearing a beautiful pair of white crop pants that are a size 16. I think I bought them about 6 years ago when I started losing weight on Weight Watchers. Obviously, I wasn't a success story, as the tags were still on them! I have clothes that I haven't worn for years.....or else they were just too tight. So I feel like I have a whole new wardrobe.....all w/o going to the mall!
