Ok so here is my quick story. I quit smoking Jan 1st 2011 and I didn't start smoking again till Nov 2011. I quit again dec 26th 2011 till about April 2012. I had my surgery Jan 9 2012. Anyways, I can't believe I gave in again. I was wondering if anyone else smokes and if anyone knows the consequences of doing it. Thanks! Jessica (diddle106)

I'm on a business trip - the 2nd one I've taken since surgery and losing almost 67 lbs. - When I went to pack my suitcase I found that the majority of my suits no longer fit; fortunately I had two that fit nicely - looser than I ever remember being able to wear them. One of them has always been my favorite. - Wore a favorite suit today that, as best I can remember, I have not worn in 8+ years. Felt great just walking around in it and when I looked at myself in the mirror from the side I saw nice curves - instead of bulges - Before I left I realized it was time to buy new underwear - two sizes smaller - let alone a new smaller slip too. Both fit nicely, thank…

I started out the this journey at 232. Never really thought I could reach my 135 goal... but this morning I got on m y scale and it said 140.2! I think I may just get there. It's been almost 10 months. Who knows... maybe on my 1 yr anniversary I will be at goal.

Last week, my best friend and 2 godchildren (2 and 4) drove to Mississippi to visit my family.. I haven't seen any of them in person since November 2011... The 10 hour drive turned in 11 and a half... it's amazing how many times a 4 year old has to potty in the span of 3 hours!! Geez!!!.. Anyway I had numerous NSVs throughout my trip... I can sleep comfortably in the passengar seat of my SUV... I also don't have to have the seat all the back to get things off the floor!! I can buckle the seatbelt in the backseat of my truck!! (the new law in IL requires that all passengers wear a seatbelt...I couldn't fit it 3 months ago!!) We stopped at Paula Deen's Resturant in …

Had a laugh lastnight. My 5 year old grandson was looking at portraits of our family before my kids were married. He recognized Papa, Uncle, and Mommy, but wanted to know who that woman was sitting next to Papa! I had blond hair, wore glasses and was about 70 lbs heavier then! He was not as amused as the rest of us were! I guess I have truly changed my looks as he did not know me. Woohoo for me! Karen

My surgeon has asked me to be in an ad for him! I was surprised and pleased. I have been interviewed by his ad agency, and the "shoot" will be later this month. I think it will be fun. There will be a video testimonial on his web site it may also be used in other ways. It surprised me because I am not some tiny size 4 person like some people get to at goal- I am happy with my size 10's and 12's. I am also not a "spring chicken" - I turned 55 last Christmas. I really would like to get rid of some jiggly saggy skin and would like my waist to be 2-3" smaller - but neither of those are happening before the end of the month! When everything is complete, I will post th…

About 2-weeks ago I bought (ordered online) some size 12 pants because my 14 were way to large on me. I bought some jeans and dress pants, and a XL belt. They arrived and I was floating in them. Thankfuly I had to go to Atlanta Friday, so I decided I needed to return them. I did, and much to my surpise I was able to put on a size 10. Never in my entire life would I have thought I could be that size. Much less not wear a XL top. Well, I'm down to a 10 in pants and skirts and a L in tops and dresses. Nice. However the sales lady brought me a size 8 in jeans. I'm thinking lady you are crazy. But, I got them on, zipped and was tucked into them. Much like wearing …

Hello everyone, Over the week my blood sugar levels have consistently been getting lower, and without any medication! Yesterday: Fasting: 114 Before dinner: 75 This am's fasting was 104! Been averaging 80-90 all day long. I am 9 days post op and still on liquid diet? Feeling pretty good. Last two days I have done 60 minutes on the elliptical and feel pretty good. I can tell I get a little tired about 1 hour afterwards, but nothing major. Thanks for reading, just wanted to share my fist success story...one of hopefully many to come. Sent from my iPad using VST

Sorry a bit long but interesting to know: When my mother was 15 years old she almost past away due to a bleeding ulcers they had to take her immediately to the ER with internal bleeding she almost past away this was in 1970 in those days a sleeve did not even exist. The doctors did not give my mother much hope but did the best they could. They remove the lower part of her stomach because it was completely destroyed and with that they had to also remove the part of the stomach that absorbed Iron and basically left her with the top part of stomach in the shape of what is called now a "sleeve". mind you this was all stiched by had, it was an open surgery no laparascopy and n…

I was listening to the radio with my boyfriend the other day and we heard this story about how no matter how much weight you lose, the people around you will always see you as "fat". They will see you currently, but in their minds it will always be a thought of, "they used to be fat." and it's true, I'm guilty of it. There is a guy in my shop that I talk to often that, after researching for my own lap band, I'm 99.9% sure he had WLS of some sort, which is great, because he is so much healthier, but whenever I see him, the first thing I think of is, wow! He's lost so much, he used to be so heavy! Does this ever bother anyone?

I gained all this weight over 10 years ago so why do people ask me it's something different about you but I can't figure it out? I say yes I had WLS and in a surprising way they say yes that's it when it was obvious. Are they faking it or am I that big you can't tell I lost over 50lbs in less than 90 days?

For years, I have "collected" various size clothes as my weight has yo yo'd over the years. And, as someone who hates shopping, this was just the way I chose to deal with having to wear different size clothes all these years. I literally had about 25' of clothes on hangers down in the basement ranging from sizes 8 to 26. I've had to go through my closet over the past year several times as my weight has gone down, but for some reason it has taken me until now to get the guts to really shed these clothes ONCE and FOREVER! Part of me is a little nervous to let them go for that fear of "what if".... but many of these clothes now are not in style, so its not all bad. …

It's official. I lost 104lbs. My body fat is 40% from 50%, waist 42 from 53, chest 43 from 52, arms 11.5 from 14, hips 47 from 61. Totaling 44 inches lost. I am totally shocked on the inches. Now I just wish I would move again.
-
Yep, no 'x' in front of my 'L' anymore. Yes, yes yes! I may not be losing too many lbs, but my body is slowly shrinking! And that's most important to me.

I was sleeved may 23, 2012. And have lost 40lbs! I have started running, riding bikes, and finally have enough energy to keep up with my three little ones. I have not had many negatives with this surgery except I'm so bored with the food choices ( yogurt, soup, eggs, sugar free pudding). And I'm sick of people's negative feed back like well you look great but I bet you could of done this with out the surgery, can't they just he happy for me. I kinda just think their jealous. Maybe I should bag up my fat clothes and give it to them! How do you deal with the negative comments?

I start back to work the week after next, so I thought I might do a bit of housekeeping in my closet. First, I tried on the few pair of pants I generally wear for work. They had to go! I was swimming in them. Then I tired on pants I've held onto because I "thought" one day they might fit. Yeah, they fit. That gives me pants for at least a month or two. Next onto shirts. I had beautiful silk blouses which I bought and could not wear becuase of my arm-n-hammer arms. I thought, Finally, I'll get to wear them. Not gonna happen...again, I was swimming in them. Dang, and they were nice and expensive blouses. Anyway, tried on the smaller one and yeah buddy! Look's …

I was in a training class for three days this week. At the first, we had to write some things down about ourselves to use in the "icebreaker" "get to know each other" time of the class. Once of the questions I had to answer was "what is your favorite food"? This stopped me cold. I really had a hard time answering the question. Before surgery, I could have answered this is a nanosecond. Now, I really had to think about it - and the foods I thought about writing down were totally different. Post Surgery A fresh, raw snap pea - nice and cold - and one that is full in its shell. A perfectly grilled scalllop or two Broiled salmon over a green salad Sauteed mushrooms …

I bought a pair of $5 skinny jeans in size 12 (Aussie which is about a 10 US) over the weekend as an item to grow into....maybe. well this morning I tried them on, just to see how close they were..and shock horror and happiness they fit, snug but wearable...yeha!!!! This is probably the biggest victory to date. Pre surgery starting at a 26/28 my goal size was a 14. I never saw or wanted to be tiny, I like curves just in the right places not bulges like before...so I am happy to get here atleast on the bottom....my tops still are a 16/18 and my boobs may stop me ever getting to a 14 as they have not shrunk much at all. Man I feel cute, curvy and sexy today...ye me

56 days ago I weighed 260 lbs... And today I weigh 218! I just thought id give an update because I remember loving them when i was pre-op. I can't believe I have lost 42 lbs in such a short time, and so easily. I wore 20/22 jeans and now am in a 16. I feel great, can eat mostly anything but sweets. Sweets make me vomit! I'm also having trouble with Protein shakes - they all taste disgusting and sometimes cause nausea, sometimes vomiting. I've found some Protein Bars that taste good so I've been supplementing with those. I eat a lot of chicken, shrimp, eggs, cheese, veggie burgers, etc... I've cheated a handful of times and had crackers or Cookies or potatoes... but …

When it seems like I am not losing, or losing too slow. I know why, however, and I know now, understand now more than I ever did - why this surgery is so invaluable. I have issues with my metabolism that is quickly regulates to whatever calories I am putting in...and it gets very hard to trick it...My sis ter was the same but instead of the furnace banking itself, hers burned red-hot. At one point she ate 4800 callories a day and was still a size 0. We both caught a very bad flu once, I lost 15 lbs and was getting "you gos!", she lost 15 and was in the hospital. I need not trick it anymore - there is no feeling of being desperate to lose before I fail on my diet. I ma …

So I went to my Dr. today 5 weeks after surgery for my first fill if needed. I had lost 14 lbs since surgery and was told I didn't need a fill. The Dr. also said that they noticed that patients who worked with their bands more, needed less fills. I have been doing this (eating healthy and working out a lot) in order to produce results. At this time I can eat whatever I want, and have had a bite of pretty much anything (pizza, bread, ect.). I have also read a lot of success stories on this site, and noticed that some people who have been really successful went for long periods of time before they got their first fill and those same people don't complain about getting …

I had an appointment with my surgeon and she was telling me how good I was looking and that my hair was looking really nice. I told her I still would like to loose about 10 more lbs. She told me not to loose any more than the 10 lbs. So I very excited to be here at the end and so now, it's almost time for maintenace. I weighed 154 lbs with my cloths on and at home I weigh in at 149 lbs. Yayyyyyyy! So happy and also scared that I won't be able to maintain my weight. If it's not one thing, it's another.

When I lost weight in 2003 and moved back home from Miami to DC I lived with my friend Rebecca. Apparently she thought I was hilarious and made a book of quotes over the years and I filled a lot of her book. Well I try to keep in touch with her so yesterday she told me that I was the first quote in her book... " the only way to lose weight is to eat nothing all day for about six months" funny that is basically what we all do.

Well, so far the biggest success I have had is getting below 300 pounds for the first time in 15 years! It happened 5 days ago, and was the BEST feeling! I had previously been 302-304 for a few days. I'm not sure how many because the scale was moved and lost for a few days lol. Then we found the scale and I weighed myself and I was 298! Woohooo! The next day I weighed myself again and was 296. I was sick for a couple days and didn't go visit my dad, where the scale is. Then today I went and weighed in at 293! It's been so long since I have been this weight, I dunno what to do with myself. So far I have lost 92 pounds since the day of surgery! And I'm just getting started!…

Yay !! I'm so excited to share my milestone.I started my pre op 3/23/12. Banded 4/6/12.My staring weight was 339. I've just hit 40 lbs down in 2 1/2 months and weigh 299. Woo Hoo ! I was getting a little frustrated I've had a lot of " life stress" over the past couple of weeks.I wasnt eating properly and was sure I had gained.but I'm motivated to refocus and double my efforts to keep the weight coming off!!

So I went & saw my surgeon today- he asked me how often I weigh myself-- about every 8 days or so. He then preceded to say that weighing yourself weekly can hurt your loss. It made complete sense to me. He said as you lose weight your clothes will start falling off, dropping sizes and so on. But because our weight loss will fluctuate and hit stalls, by looking at the scale weekly, the numbers start to dictate how I feel, not the WAY I feel. He said that I could have a great week, staying on track , exercising, the whole bit... And I may feel amazing and my clothes feel loose and I feel great, but if step on the scale and only see a 1 lb loss for that week, then I'l…

A few pics to show my weight loss: Me before. Me as a bunny (just kidding but aren't my guys AWESOME, lol). 90 lbs down. before and after on pants - size 24's (not my biggest jeans, either) and men's 36" waist . Not sure how far I will go from here - I fit into almost all 14's and some 12's (12 are tight). I am currently at 190 lbs.

Ok - so I HAVE to share this, and I will try to make it brief. I have a friend who is much younger than myself, and has fallen into a terrible relationship with a very controlling much older woman (older than myself by 5 years). So younger friend is staying at my house to get her head together and think stuff over, and older ex friend thought I would be at work, so she was going to show up and quite literally take her at my doorstep (younger friend is smoker and not allowed to smoke in yard, take it to the curb, tyvm). But I had to go home today to undo the hoses on my old washing machine (ugh a whole other story). I was parked away from my driveway for access to ta…

Hey Guys, I went car shopping last night w/ my BFF and her hubby... They're looking for a midsize sedan or small SUV.. anyway, we test drove the new Honda Accord, Chrysler 200 and some Lexus car... so, I was like.. oh Lord.. I don't think I can get in the backseat of this car... Not only did I fit in the backseat, so did my neice, nephew and salesperson!!! LOL... Then I was concerned about the seatbelt... NO ISSUES in either vehicle... the next test was whether or not I needed to move the front seat back so I could have space to get in and out of the front seat... HEHEHEHEHE.... I didn't!!!!! I'm so tickled, that finally, I don't have to drive an SUV or big, cute car...…

Well, I've been at goal a while, and thought nsvs, and indeed svs were a thing of the past, but this sleeve just keeps on giving! 1: On holiday last week my MIL sneakily took a photo of me in a skimpy swimsuit, I saw it, and althouhh I am far from habing a beach body, I wasnt horrified either! Yay! 2: Yesterday a friend posted a pic of a pub we'd been to together on facebook, and I spent ages trying to work out who the people in the pic were only to recognise myself by virtue of the handbag I was carrying! I genuinely have to keep looking at it, and checking that is what I look like now - odd! xx
