I know Im rather late here with this, But june 7th was my one year anniversary. I got sleeved june 7th of 2011 and have lost a little over 245+ on my one year mark, exceeding the centers expectation by over 120 pounds. They expected me to lose 100-125 first year but I beat it. Life for me since losing so much surgery...AMAZING! Im starting to live again, breathe again, and look at life at a fresher and better view. Ive promised myself, that this summer I would enjoy it like no other summer by going to the Yankee stadium and sitting on seats instead of the bleachers, Visit dorney park, and mountain creek and of course six flags and maybe get my ass into a roller coaster. B…

The smell/taste of it preop woukd make me gag I don't know how I will do it now. It's not chewable....just has a very strong smell and taste. Anyone have suggestions for b-1?

Today is six months from surgery. I started at 234.5 pounds and, including pre-op weightloss (beginning January 3), have now lost 57.3 lbs. I feel like I should have done more!! I don't want to waste this and I expected to be proud and happy today, but now I am just sort of freaked out. Am I on the right track? HELP!

  6. Does anyone know if the sleeve or the bypass have better long term weightloss statistics? Or are they about the same? I know they haven't been doing the sleeve as long as the bypass as a solo procedure but I'm just concerned about regaining weight in the long run. I would appreciate any information. Thanks!

  7. Hi all, I know I don't post on here as much as I would like but I do read posts almost daily. Many of you don't even know how much help you have been through my journey. I find it difficult to post replies without over thinking about saying the wrong thing. I will reach my 7 month post op date on the 21st of this month and have been at so many stalls lastings for 3 weeks plus lately. I started my journey at 220, my goal is 120 and I am currently at 162. I do my fitness pal and have begun obsessing at how much more I am eating than others and beating myself up about not being at 150 to the point of tears. My daily powerades and Gatorades make my carbs high but when I do …

okay guys, not the most flattering pic because I was concentrating, but this is a very basic Acro Yoga pose. The bottom is a "base" and the top is a "flyer". I had based many time, and sorta flew, but that day, evan if it doesn't show it, I took my hands away and completed the posture. I held it for about a minute, supported by her feet on my pelvic bones. This is a NSV all its own. I can’t buy this. I can’t “afford” surgery for this. I didn’t get this because of anything other than my persistence. The classes are at Blue Tree Yoga in Houston, and they are donation. So you can’t not “afford” it…I did it…it just keeps going in my mind like that. “I did it”. For the firs…

  10. Hey all, Went to NUT today. Felt like a pop quiz. What are you eating, are you taking Vitamins, are you getting Protein, hows the Water intake, are you tracking? Not sure I left with any knew knowledge, except that pre op testing showed I was already very low in VIT D (32). She weighed me and said, down 12. And walked to her room.. where is my BOOYAH!! thats one of my toddlers!! PMSL! That is 26 pounds in 3 weeks.. without trying specifically to lose, just following the plan and getting protein. Last night I had errands to run after work, between that and rainstorms, I ran too late to go to the gym. By the time I got home, I was CRANKY. I grumped around the house, put on my workout clothes, decided against the Wii because I would have had to move the sofa with husband attached to it, tried the mini trampoline that made my back hurt, and finally grabbed a dog leash and dog and went for a brisk walk in the drizzle. Did about a 2.5 mile walk around the neighborhood and tried to let my mind clear a little. On the way back up the street, I had an epiphany. I just walked over two miles at a fast pace, and I was not sweating, gasping, limping or being dragged by my…

Well it hit me like a ton of bricks this morning when I stepped on the scale and the first number was a "1" instead of a "2" that this is really working! I don't want to say the band is working for me, because I feel like I'm working with it. I'm doing more than my fair share - jogging or hiking 3-4 miles a day, counting calories like a mad woman, taking my Vitamins religiously. The band gives me that gentle reminder to slow down and eat responsibly because I may not get to eat a whole meal - only eat what my body needs, I can't afford to waste hunger on crap food. I can't say my journey thus far has been hard or easy, but it's been different. Making myself a prio…

I thought I would share a few NSV's I've had recently as I find these very motivating. I was banded May 10th but I count since I started the program in February. Since then I've lost 70lbs and continue to lose about 2 lbs a week. Anyway on the NSV's: 1. I was able to buy a new belt today at a normal store, I didn't have to go the Big and Tall store. I wanted to keep the old belt and I had been punching holes in it to keep using it, but I work in a professional office and the shabby look doesn't fly. Anyway I went to the store to actually pick up some socks and figured I'd try on a belt just to see and low and behold it fit!!!! 2. I am a guy and shave every mor…

I keep hearing, "you can do it on your own", "you haven't even tried yet". I am trying to walk more and swim more, but this body is difficult to move. Any words of wisdom out there??

When he saw me he stared at me for a few seconds and told me I was skinny! Never has anyone ever called me skinny, skinny and Paola have never been used in the same sentence. What an awesome feeling! Granted, I am no way near done, but its awesome when you efforts are acknowledged. Thank you Jesus! For I know that without him this would not be possible! I love my sleeve!!

That means that my month long stall is OVER!!! Hip hip hooray! Today I flew on a plane. Previous to surgery I was pretty sure I would need an extender - today I had about 7-8 extra inches of seat belt And, I have lost 40% of my excess weight in a little under 9 weeks. I still have a ways to go - 65 more lbs, but I feel like it is going to happen. Happy happy day to everyone!

I am now in the smallest clothes I had held onto from about 8 years ago, and really need to do some shopping as the styles are definitely dated, but I don't want to buy any until it's a smaller size! The sleeve is far superior in every way, and I could not be happier!! Another big difference this time is this message board- it is so full of encouragement, so full of good information, an…

  44. So yesterday was my 2 month post-op Surgiversary! Overall, I'm feeling pretty great! Down 49 lbs (1 lbs away from my first goal!) and nearly 27% to my goal weight! I think I have my expectations set too high! I had surgery 11 days ago, back to work, exercising and feeling great! Lost 13 pre-op and 13 last week! So believe me when I say I'm ecstatic with being down 25 lbs. I guess I've read where some people lose a lot the first week but none the next...I'm there and it's frustrating! It goes down one, up two! I know it's probably because I'm not getting enough! Any encouraging 'it's normal' type words of wisdom would be much appreciated!

So I went and bought some on sale last night..went down 2 scrub sizes and my coworkers said that I have been hiding under the bigger ones ( well honestly..I was being cheap because the bigger ones are like wearing pjs.. But they aren't flattering) so I thought I would break down and get new ones..so today..I am rocking some curves! LOL!! Slowly but surely will win this race against the bulge!
